Spontaneously stopped here for dinner while driving down Morgan. Overall the food was excellent and fairly priced. I think this is an expansion of El Taco Azteca on Cermak, which has amazing tacos, with beautiful, creative menu items. The presentation of the food surprised me because I didn't know it was Azteca, I couldn't take a picture before diving in. Freshly fried chips came with a thick, mole-esque red sauce that was delicious without any heat. We had a vegetarian torta and a birria chilaquiles. Both dishes were well presented and tasted great. The torta bread was slightly pressed and had an amazing crunch to the crust. Flavorful vegetables were a highlight. The chilaquiles came with a side of rice and chara? beans. A couple of small dings that resulted in 4 instead of 5 stars. They ran out of eggs so I was substituted a small piece of chorizo, kind of wish there was more there. Also, we ordered a side salad with the torta and fries came out. Otherwise, I recommend trying this place. I'm excited to come back and try other dishes. read more

I wanted to like this place so bad. I have ordered from the Pilsen location a few times. I know about their loooooooooong wait times for food and decided to order over the phone. I ordered at 3:14 pm. The person in the phone said 12 minutes. I got there 15 minutes later. My food was not started. Someone came in to ask for a pick up order and decided to eat here instead. However they said that they only had 30 minutes to eat. I saw them make their food first. 15 minutes later my food is barely being prepared. By then, I had been there for 20 minutes yet after they said my food would be done. I was expecting a small wait not a 40 minute wait time in a restaurant that's empty. But once they started cooking my food, it did come out 12 minutes later. Anyway, I got the birria chilaquiles. They were different but very delicious. The birria didn't really taste like birria and the chilaquiles tasted more like regular red chilaquiles with chuck roast. They weren't bad but they're not what I was imagening. I will not be returning to this location or their Pilsen location as the wait times are not worth the food quality. read more

We've been to the Adelitas a few times for dinner but stopped in for brunch for the first time today and it was wonderful! We had the red chilaquiles and the enchiladas suizas (from the lunch/dinner menu). I had the enchiladas with half green and half red sauce so I could try them side by side and figure out which one I liked better. Both were good, but I liked the red better. The enchiladas were plated beautifully and tasted delicious. I chicken was moist and tender and I really like the melted cheese. The red chilaquiles were sooo good. They were unique because they didn't have the crispy tortilla chips, which I am a huge fan of. I was nervous I wouldn't like them, but the flavor was out of this world. The tortillas were mixed in cheese and the red sauce. It was rich and creamy, almost like a lasagna. I would definitely recommend brunch here and look forward to having the chilaquiles again. We walked in on a Friday night and The place was empty only us two dining in. Also, It smelled like cat in the restaurant and I think I know why.... But won't say anything on here(coughhh..cough... cermak). After about five minutes of sitting down comes the waiter with the menus(okkkaaay). Followed with water shortly after. We first ordered shrimp empanadas and Coca Cola tacos. And told the waiter we would order more in a bit. As we do so. 25 minutes later comes out the empanadas. Empanadas taking 25 minutes when you're the only person in a restaurant is crazy. But ok, then approximately 10 min later comes out our TWO TACOS. So here we are 35 minutes into service for 2 tacos and 2 empanadas. As we waited for the first two items we ordered sopes trio dish and a steak dish. Now comes out the sopes. And we are probably 50 minutes into service. We finished the sopes and we are still waiting on the steak dish. The waiter comes over and ask my girlfriend about her steak dish like did you order fajitas? My jaw dropped. Here we are an hour into service and you're asking about my steak dish that was ordered over 30 minutes ago?? We respectfully asked for the check and the steak dish to go. As I had to get ready for work. This was supposed to be a quick meal. Nothing nice about the ambiance. They have fake flowers on the table in don julio glasses with WATER lol. And again it smelled like cat. Ok, quick food review. Coca Cola tacos were nothing special. I am confused as to why they were voted by Chicago's best. Also, I'd avoid putting cucumbers on top of tacos. ~_~ Shrimp empanadas were ok. Sopes were good. And none of our food came out HOT! Every dish came out topped with some fried strings.. epazote possibly? Looked like crumbled potato chips. NOT A FAN. Salsas were just ok. The meat quality is ok I've definitely had worse. I'm really kicking myself for not just walking down the street to MARTINEZ for a quick dinner. As I first read the menu I had high hopes for this place. Popped in here with coworkers for $4 a la carte Taco Tuesday. Parking easy and Yelp check in gets you a complimentary aqua fresca. Only the quesabirria is excluded from TT, so regular price at $10 for two with consommé. I got the Coca-Cola torta and it was great! A little smaller than tortas elsewhere, but at $10.50 just a slight markup from the taqueria in Bronzeville closer to work. It comes on a square ciabatta that seems smaller than a traditional bolillo. All the tortas I believe come home fries to make up for the size/price but I'd trade them away for a size bump (since a price drop doesn't make sense if regular price on two tacos is $10) The ingredients that dressup this torta? the pork belly, chipotle mayo, black bean spread, panela cheese, aruglula, and grilled jalapenos. No crowd though we did make a reservation for five. Table service, with non disposable plates, utensils, cups. When I take my leftovers home next time, I'll remember just to ask for wrap and a bag and skip the styrofoam box. They were ok with separate checks with each of us checking out up front. The waitress was very nice and got the order right! Now onto the food. This place has really unique plates. I had the muy pink Chilaquiles. My friend had the quesabirria Chilaquiles and another friend had the enchiladas. They all come with your choice of beans. For the taste of everything, it lacked a little flavor and everything was cold. I wanted to ask the waitress to put our food in the microwave, Their café de Olla was so good! Piping hot and fresh! We have gone three times and each time we left disappointed. On our most recent visit, we ordered a torta and the carne asada. The torta was good, but there was far too much salt on the beef in the sandwich. The carne asada was quite bad. It was ordered as medium rare and it came out well done (it's so thin it's impossible to cook medium rare). Predictably, the steak was tough. To add insult to injury, they charged $3 more than what was listed on the menu. We paid, but we mentioned it to the server on our way out, who made a phone call (to the owner?) and said she'd credit $3 to our credit card. We didn't ask for it, but cool. Over a week later, no credit to our card and the wrong price is still on the menu. Previous visits had assorted issues with the food and one bad fruit fly infestation. We ordered a steak burrito, Al pastor taco and a torta milanesa. They were big and we only ate half of each. The al pastor taco was flavorful and moist. I could eat 3 tacos and be happy. The steak burrito was big and b4 said he couldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting. I ate half of my torta. It came with fries which were ok. I could do with out them. Wow - this place was amazing! We went for dinner on a Friday night and we're shocked that we were the only people there! When we sat down, they immediately brought us a free cup of soup which was absolutely delicious. We then both ordered the torta, which came with truffle fries. HOLY MOLY those fries were literally some of the best fries I've had in a long time. They were very clearly freshly cut and absolutely delicious. The torta itself was amazing. It had the perfect mix of textures and flavors - the avocado and pickled onions were just the cherry on top of a delicious sandwich. I live down the street from The Adelitas and that's not good because now I'm tempted to eat every meal of the day from here....it's THAT delicious! I stopped here last weekend for dinner with a couple of friends and we were blown away leaving at the meals we had. I ordered the Flautas, which is delicious and presented well. My friends had the burger and Torta De Milanesa and both raved how much they enjoyed their meals. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt I was sitting down at home the way we were treated. The Adelitas stands out in Bridgeport as one of the best restaurants (in a neighborhood with great eats). New Mexican restaurant that just opened up in Bridgeport. Of the many that are already there, I'd probably rank it near the bottom, but that doesn't mean it's bad by any means. Just that it has stiff competition. It has a small dining room, that is BYOB which is nice (just limit to 3 items per person though). I've ordered twice items to go. I got the milanesa torta, and the steak burrito, which were both good for sure, but maybe a bit overpriced, especially since the burrito didn't even come with rice and beans. Oh well, if nothing else it's at least a new different Mexican option to try in the neighborhood. And it's now the closest one to my apt. read more

I and two friends visited this restaurant on a Thursday evening. When we arrived at 6:45p we were the only diners there and when we finished eating and were leaving there was only one other couple there. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the food we were served was beautifully presented and tasted great. There was one server and she was often confused giving us incorrect information about our order which we had to correct her via the menu. There was no printed menu and we had to upload the menu to our phones. I found it odd we had to do this and it was tedious scrolling through the online menu. I order tamales and was told by the server that they did not have any tamales that day even though there were extensive tamale options on the menu. But the real deal breaker for my party was that the bathrooms which both lacked paper towels and we were expected to use TP to dry our hands. We will not be back. read more

The service was extremely slow, and the food was not great. The smallest tampiqueña dish I've ever seen. We revisited for Valentine's Day and then for Taco Tuesday two weeks later. We were astonished at the improvement. The plating and the sauce choices were very thoughtful. Empanadas, yeah! They are BYOB put provide really nice wine glasses that make any wine taste great. We had the Valentines day special plus a cheese stuffed pepper with sides and both the shrimp and the mushroom empanadas. V-day dessert fell flat, not up to the gourmet-ish standards of everything else, but otherwise no complaint. The steak was the thin style but good flavors. On Taco night we had five different tacos: mushroom, ceviche, al pastor, cochinita, and borracho (my favorite). Araceli the waitress is invariably pleasant even when beleaguered with a crowd. The Adelitas Restaurant originally opened in 2021 and it was clear that it had a way to go before being able to compete with the other established restaurants in the area. But it's revamped, under new management, and I'm thinking that it might just find its niche in the slowly burgeoning Bridgeport food scene. Went there to take advantage of a soft-opening 50% discount, which is a pretty good incentive to get you in the door. Well, it worked, and we had a lovely evening. As a table, my wife and I split the Guacamole de Fruta, Enchiladas Mis 3 Moles, and the Calabacitas Rellenas, with a good pitcher of Horchata, and, frankly, I would recommend each of them as being tasty and beautifully constructed. (Sadly, they were out of the Lime Jarritos I wanted but, hey, you can't have it all.) Will probably return once the re-opening kinks are worked out (in particular, the music was provided by a YouTube playlist that kept stopping and restarting... just sign into the account, someone!), which will be balanced by less of a discount, but I can only imagine that it will get better as they settle in. read more

Decided to give them another try and what a waste of time. Horribly slow service. There were only us and two other tables. A four top was there first got their food, we were in second as a three top. And then a 2 top came in at least 10 minutes after we did. It took them at least 25 minutes to bring out one coffee, and a tea. The two top got their food (and they were ordering brunch items just like us), at least 15 minutes before us?! Finally at about the 35 minute mark we got 2 of our meals. They gave one of us bacon instead of sausage. I had to wait at least 10 more minutes for my meal to come. After that much waiting, they brought the wrong item?! As much as I'd like to support small businesses, we will not be returning to Adelitas. Seriously sloppy, bad service. I don't understand how they can be this slow and still mess up our simple breakfast order. read more

We've been meaning to go here for months but just haven't had a chance. We finally made it and it definitely won't be the last time. The food was excellent. Every single item we had was delicious and it was all cooked to order, which makes a huge difference. We were greeted with a free cup of this delicious poblano and tomato soup. Even though it was really hot outside, we had it all because it was so good. Next up was the octopus and chorizo appetizer. Amazing. Probably the most tender octopus I've ever had. We then had a couple of tacos: al pastor and the shrimp. The homemade tortillas were so good slightly different than any I've had before and I loved them. The shrimp was delicious with a nice little kick and the al pastor was so juicy with just the right amount of pineapple. She also had made a huge vat of watermelon juice/water. What a perfectly refreshing drink on such a hot day and it went to so well with the savory spices in the food. Can't wait to try the breakfast next. We will definitely be going there again. I hope others do, too. It's never very crowded as it's not easy to spot on a low-visibility street. I'd love to see them stick around. Final word: the server was so pleasant and so nice. I was excited to see a new restaurant opening in the neighborhood and I called Adelitas to inquire about vegetarian options. The host checked with the chef and said he can make veggie enchiladas. They were DELICIOUS! The poblano cream sauce was incredible and one of the best vegetarian enchiladas I've ever had (and I eat alot of enchiladas!). It should be added to the menu for all to enjoy. Me and my boyfriend stopped by to check this place out & their food, attentiveness, and atmosphere was 10/10. Starting from their welcome sampler 'soup of the day'. It was a carrot habanero, delicious, spicy and we loved it so much we had seconds! The coffee had that authentic Mexican flavor, so good that there was no need to add sugar or creamer! There food was everything too, starting from their chicken mole, to their skirt steak, chilaquiles, frijoles with quesito and hand made tortillas. Super rich in all the flavors.
