I found the staff very welcoming and engaging. I was disappointed in the food, and the portion. I found the prices a bit steep, and the quantity rather small. Normally when you go to an ethnic restaurant, the portions are huge. Not here. Also, the food was as salty as many of my family members. I liked and prefer Coronas on Augusta in Gville. I won't be back. If you like expensive, meager portions and salty food, have at it. read more

Best place to eat Mexican in the area. Try the carnitas or the molcajete!!!! The chori-queso is amazing. Also their prices can't be beat. Great food, great drinks, great staff!! Also Ask for Pancho. He's the best!!!!! read more

Wonderful food, friendly staff. Food is served in a timely manner. Love this restaurant! Beautifully decorated inside.

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and we were seated right away. We had drinks and our chips immediately. We love the menu pictures and choices. I had chilaquiles and my daughter had an enchilada combo. The food was also super quick to come out. It was hot and fresh and tasty. The service was so good as usual. This is my favorite Mexican food place. Thank you! read more

We love Sureno in Powdersville! We've been going there for years and it's one of our faves. We love the friendly staff, great service, awesome food, and how quickly we get our food and to go orders. It's at a convenient spot in the middle of Powdersville and they have an outside eating also. It's not a huge place or the fanciest place but they have the best food and staff. I will say, not a go to if you're just looking for a bar and mixed drinks. They're good, but I don't think that's their main focus. Recommend the fajita nachos, quesadillas, cheese dip, and any of the combinations. read more

Wow!!! Awesome dinner. Had chili verde and burrito macho both full of flavor. Not bland, very much authentic Mexican. Best Mexican I have had since leaving CA. Service outstanding. Highly recommend read more

My fiancée and I have made this our go to Mexican restaurant, we eat outside and have always had good service. The chips and salsa are very good and their cheese dip is also very good, the cheese dip Is a little thin but still tasty, have had several items from the menu and have been kneaded with everything. read more

Love this place!!!! Food is excellent. Be sure and try the tamales. They are the best I have ever had. Even when they are very busy, the service is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. read more

Was looking for a last minute dinner and stopped here for a hot meal! The atmosphere was nice! Great music playing in the background! Our bartender was very friendly! My biggest concern with this establishment was that the cold mugs and glasses were stored in a freezer that had what appeared to be mold in it! I wanted to love the food but it came out late and it lacked flavor! There was nothing about this establishment that screams I should come back and give it a try, usually I'll give each bad review I give a second chance but I honestly just don't want to return! read more

Food was very good and flavorful. Service was prompt, and professional. Will visit again.

We have eaten here three or four times with friends after church. It's always good... never a disappointment. Service is attentive, atmosphere is on the better side of Mexican restaurants. The place is clean and neat so hey, what do you expect? We have never run out of chips and salsa, which is one mark of a good Mexican restaurant. Chips are great, salsa too. Not too hot, but flavorful. One of the few Mexican places that I will go back to. read more

The food in the atmosphere here is nothing to write home about but it's not a bad place to eat. It's middle of the road and the prices match. They had a nice patio outside which I sat at and I thought it was comfortable. Out of 10 I would give this place a six or seven. read more

I went went to this restaurant a couple of months ago and Apparently all the staff were fussing with each other and didn't seem to have a problem letting everyone in the restaurant know. They were fussing with each other and also acting very rudely towards us. When they delivered our meal they almost hit my niece in the head with a plate because they were jerking the plates around and fussing with the other staff. The food wasn't great, the inside looks nasty, the staff were terrible. I will never go back again. I don't know how they have any business. read more

I will start off saying the food was yummy, but..... the service was disappointing, my friend and I ordered margaritas, she ordered pina colada and I ordered mango on the rocks, well the drinks came out frozen, we called him over and told him that is not we ordered, he said what we wanted did not come on the rocks... I said well that was not what we ordered nor were we notified that the drinks were not served on the rocks, we stated that we did not want them, so he went to his coworker and said the "puntas" did not want the drinks, he said it 3 times before my friends notified him that she does understand him, he never returned to check on us afterwards, we asked to speak a manager, a lady who was the hostess came and we told her what we experienced, she comped the meal... the point is the waiter was disgusting and nasty!!! read more

This is a review I hate to leave. I've been going to El Sureno for take out, at least once a month for about a decade. Over the past year however, it's been more like once a week. I like the food. It's good, and not terribly expensive. I've had a problem with the service lately though. Of my past 5 take orders, 4 of them have been missing something that I either ordered, or something that should just automatically come with the order. An example; On one of my orders, I've asked for fresh guacamole. Got the guacamole, but no chips to go along with it. That's ok, I'll just use my own. On another order, some fajitas for two. Fajita dish is there, but ooops, no soft tortilla shells to make the fajita with. And on and on. I made the young man at the register aware, but he seemed like he couldn't be bothered. I bid them a fond farewell, and maybe I'll check them out in a year or so. Maybe they'll have gotten their act together by that time. read more

I give this place a solid 4.5 stars. People were friendly, helpful and on top of it. Food was great.

Stopped in on our way home from a trip. Chips were hot and fresh and husband really enjoyed his lunch as well. Didn't have time to plan ahead so was a little discouraged buy the 3 stars but we both would say a solid 4 from our experience. read more

Their flavors are amazing! This is coming from a Puerto Rican/Black woman who KNOWS spices and flavor! I've never had a bad experience, even when they're packed to the brim on the weekends! read more

Awesome place. Great food and good prices too. Authentic quality. They used to not sell coffee but to my delight they now have it. It's good too. More varied menu than many. Lunch specials available every day including Sundays. We have found our regular family Sunday lunch destination here. Already looking forward to our next visit. read more

Amazing food! They had it out to us so incredibly fast! Such nice people, will absolutely be making this our regular place!

Not COVID prepared!!! Won't let you eat outside when there was space and other people outside. We were told they had to fill the dinning room first. They are not properly cleaning tables and chairs. No one is wearing masks or gloves!!! Avoid this place at all costs!! read more

My classmates and I were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food at El Sureno. I enjoyed my Tex Mex quesadilla after we randomly stopped here on the drive back from Atlanta. It was relatively inexpensive, a boatload of chips and mildly spicy salsa were constantly refilled, and pleasant company made for an overall good experience. read more

I ordered the Chimichangas and I live like less than 2 minutes away. The food tasted okay but my biggest complaint is the food was so cold I couldn't even finish eating it as I really lost my appetite after less than half of it. Don't know why it was so cold unless they had an order already that someone didn't come and get so it was regifted to me. read more

Unimpressive food. Nice folks. Two in our party and had to wait about 7 minutes for second order to arrive. Hot food but more sauce than substance to the enchiladas. read more

My fav place for Mexican food. Love the fajita's, rice, refried beans, and their salsa's are the best! Also love their pink lemonade! To add their service is super fast. Just getting ready to order take out from them today. Happy July 4th to me n my man! read more

My wife loves Mexican food, therefore I tolerate it. We me here for lunch last week, and I must say it was great! There are only 1 or 2 Mexican restaurants to which I go willingly and this is now at he top. EVERYTHING from the quick and attentive service to the tasty chips and salsa was wonderful. The chile relleno was better than any I've ever had; more like a delicious Mexican stuffed pepper than the usual flavorless pepper drowned in cheese to cover the lack of flavor. We will definitely return this restaurant. I may even suggest Mexican without being asked... read more

The food was great! My husband loves tacos and he was extremely pleased. My two children enjoyed their tacos (they have a pretty large children menu). Per my daughter, the taco meat was really good and she liked the queso. Service was quick and very polite. All in all, very good. read more

The food was acceptable and pretty standard for this type of Mexican restaurant. The service was less than stellar. Our server basically just put the plates on the table with a half-hearted attempt to determine who they belonged to even though they were very hot. And even though I asked for a tamale, it was never delivered and did not appear on the check. Judging by the conversations at the register, mistakes are a common occurrence. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Food is great and fast and reasonably priced. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the take-out service is horrible. We never receive everything we ordered. For example, ordered fajitas and received no tortilla's on more than one occasion. I'd give 4 stars for the taste of the food. read more

El Sureño never disappoints! My family and I have gone here for years and prefer nothing over it! The service is great and food is amazing.

This is a great Mexican restaurant & by far my favorite. Food is always great as well as the service.

Just enjoyed an absolutely delicious take out dinner from here! I ordered a stir fry shrimp dinner with chips and queso. I also enjoyed their flan for dessert. Everything was soooo tasty. Customer service was also wonderful. I walked in and ordered. They had my food ready in only about 10mins or so. Great place!!! read more

Wonderful homemade Mexican food! We were staying at a motel down the street and felt like Mexican food. What a great surprise to find food of this quality! Starting with great salsa with a nice kick, we had the Chili Verde and the Burrito Macho. Both fabulous. The drinks were HUGE. Great value for the price but we would have gladly paid more for food of this quality. read more

My husband and I visited this place during the week. I've been here before with a friend and it was good and expected the same when I took my husband. He ordered the carnitas, one of his favorite dishes. When he received it, the pork was dry so he didn't eat it. The plate sat there on the table and it was obvious he didn't touch it. One of the waiters came by, saw the plate, asked him how it was so my husband told him - it was dry. The waiter said "I'm sorry" but gave us our ticket with that menu item still on it. There was no action to try to remedy the situation, no "can I get you something else"... nothing! We went up to the front counter to pay and my husband told the staff what happened and they said "it's our policy not to take food off your bill". What?!?!? I have never heard of this! After some argueing, she eventually took it off the bill but we should not have gone through that. The customer service is HORRIBLE! We will definitely not be back. read more
