Amazing food and customer service. Love the vibe and cleanliness. Claudia cooks each meal with so much love and passion. Each meal we've had here was so authentic and full of flavor. Her son and her show excellent professionalism and care for each customer who stop by. Reasonable pricing as well.

Owner is super attentive and welcoming

Sip Happens... and So Does a Solid Taco Night…read more My husband, daughter, and I were in the mood to shake things up with margaritas somewhere new, and our daughter pointed us toward Copita Tequileria y Comida. As we cruised by looking for parking, it was clear we had picked a lively spot--buzzing energy everywhere: inside, outside, and even upstairs. We were quickly seated indoors, though on such a beautiful day we assumed we'd be offered outdoor seating. No big deal--we asked, and they happily moved us to a shaded table with plenty of space. Much better. Drinks were first on the agenda: margaritas and a michelada, all refreshing and exactly what we were hoping for. Our server, Michelle, was friendly, attentive, and even shared some helpful tips about perks with our American Express Platinum Card--a nice, unexpected touch. We kicked things off with queso fundido, though a brief mix-up brought us chips and guacamole from another table first. Once we pointed it out, it was quickly handled--but honestly, it looked so good we ended up ordering it anyway. No regrets there--it definitely hit the spot. We hadn't planned on a full dinner, so we went with lighter bites. The tuna tostadas and halibut ceviche were a hit--fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. I went with the tortilla soup, which was good and nicely presented... but didn't quite wow me. I've been on a bit of a tortilla soup tour lately, and this one leaned a little heavy on the tortillas (soaking up too much broth) and had more zucchini than I expected. That said, major points for serving it piping hot--something a lot of places miss--and the avocado was a great addition. One thing worth noting: I didn't catch it until later, but there's a 4% living wage surcharge added to the bill--and it's taxed. That caught me off guard, and I'm still not entirely sure how that works in California. Overall, a fun, energetic spot with great drinks, tasty bites, and solid service. Not perfect, but definitely good enough to come back for another round.

Mexi-Can Acopio is a…read morephoenix-rising-from-the-ashes story, as this building was the original home of Lorena's Taqueria before a terrible fire in 2012 forced them to relocate to their new digs on N. 13th St. Wisely, the family held onto the property for years before their chef-trained daughter, and the restaurant's namesake, Lorena, decided to repurpose it into a contemporary, elevated Mexican restaurant, along with her also chef-trained brother and a few others whose combined oeuvre of experience includes Michelin-starred Chez TJ, Alexander's-by-the-Sea, and Naschmarkt, to name a few. The Good: * A small private lot, as well as street parking, is available. * Reservations via their website * Outdoor, dog-friendly seating * Great bar program with signature cocktails and a nice selection of local brews on tap * Small, curated menu that changes seasonally * Great service from our server, Jayleen * Costillas de Elote (aka corn ribs) may seem like a nothing dish, but man, it was bursting with flavor and was one of the (many) highlights of the night * The Carne en su Jugo was a great riff on a classic French cassoulet, but with a Mexi kick in flavor * I couldn't resist the Duck Mole dish, as it featured two of my favorite foods in one savory and delicious plate. The confit duck leg was fantastic and fell off the bone, and the sweet and savory chocolate mole was the perfect foil. However, to me, the unheralded star of the dish was the fried masa brick, done up like a classic potato pavé, which deserves a special shoutout * For dessert, their rendition of Tres Leches cake was fantastic! The crispy turulete (corn-based cookie) on top gave a nice crunch to go along with the sweet cake, and the tart notes from the green apples really tied it all together for a complex and delicious dessert The Meh: * Happy Hour (Wed-Sat, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., and all day on Sun) menu and drinks are limited to the bar area only * Only open for dinner * As many have noted, the neighborhood is a little sus, but honestly, it's not that bad. Just lock your car (as you should everywhere these days), and you'll be fine--I promise The Ugly: * The number of people I know--or have seen online--who hate on elevated Mexican cuisine is kinda crazy. As if only French or American cuisines are allowed to be fancy--it's honestly a bunch of bullshit. If anything, LUNA has shown for years now that it can be done, and Acopio continues in that vein Conclusion: I had high expectations coming in, and Acopio met or exceeded every one of them. I'm a bit surprised they haven't received a nod from the Michelin Guide yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if one is in the works at some point in the future. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group unless you have a reservation. I ordered the duck and was high surprised at how delicious it was. It's a small place but has indoor & outdoor eating. Lively (Latin?) music & an extensive menu. If you have a large party or are with picky eaters, this place has it all. I ordered their egg scramble with chorizo. 5/5 The rice & beans were seasoned so good. Even as sides, as individual items they were DELICIOUS. The chorizo & eggs weren't overly greasy & the tortillas were good. My partner ordered the steak sandwich. 4.5/5 Flavor was amazing. The steak was a little chewy. The sauce on the side complimented it very well but not necessary as the flavor of the steak was great by itself. I ordered a strawberry mimosa, as well. It was really lacking for me. Didn't taste any strawberry. Just looked like pink champagne. 2/5 Overall, the food & customer service was great. Clean bathrooms. Good vibes. Will definitely come back & try the rest of the menu.

The server finally came back out and we put in a food order and we both ordered another drink because of how long it took the first time. I got the qeusabria Taco which was pretty solid given it was my first time trying it. I would definitely order again. My buddy had gotten two tacos, and the first came out and he had been long done before the second one came out. Overall, good food, decent prices, multiple seating options depending on how you're feeling, but the service was not good. Because of that I don't know if I'll go back.

Check your empanada for mold!…read more We stopped by for breakfast and got chilaquiles and a chicken and mole empanada. Enjoyed our chilaquiles (do try this if you stop by), and were wrapping up our meal with the empanada when we discovered a chunk of fuzzy blue grey mold in the MIDDLE of the empanada about 1" in length and 3/8" wide. The empanada was already cut in half and wasn't showing from the outside or the cut area, but the mold was in one half of the empanada and I broke the other half which was normal looking. Thankfully we spit it out, and didn't eat the bite that we took. The waitress had offered to replace it but we said no because we were so shocked. We were kind of disappointed that the manager didn't try to come and address the issue with us. Just left it to their serving staff who quickly cleared our table and gave us the check. Might go back for the other food items, but definitely NOT the empanadas.

Long overdue since I frequent the place:…read more If you are craving a reliable, no-frills Mexican spot in Cupertino, this place delivers exactly what you hope for and then some. We grabbed three burritos to go, two with adobo chicken and one with the Del Mar fish. Each one was packed generously and full of flavor. The chicken had a nice depth of seasoning, and the fish option felt fresh and well balanced. Portions were more than satisfying. I made a small customization request to shift the cheese from one burrito into mine, and they handled it without hesitation. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly. For the quality and size, the pricing felt reasonable. The setting lands comfortably between casual and slightly elevated. It is a step up from a typical taco shop, but still laid back and easygoing. There is seating both inside and outside, which is a nice option, though the patio sits near a somewhat busy street. Parking can require a bit of patience since it shares a strip mall lot with other businesses. Aside from that minor inconvenience, it is a dependable choice for a satisfying burrito, and I would happily come back again. Did I mention the staff have great stories?

Uniquely among the few places in this area I've tried that do have sopapillas, theirs are sometimes hollow so you can put the necessary honey (which comes with) inside. Sometimes. Some are hollow and some aren't. They come 8 to a plate, in the shape of pie slices, and they're quite crisp on the outside. It's pretty good, best of the breed locally, but I still miss the big pillowy ones from New Mexico. For the meal beforehand, I tried the special of corn chowder. This was very plain-tasting but reasonably hearty. Strange salsa bar. The salsas come with shallow wooden spoons with which it's impossible to get a decent quantity of any of the liquid salsas into the little paper cup.
