My family has been coming here a lot lately. The food is great and the service is friendly, when DINING IN. **DO NOT go through the drive thru.** We ordered our food (family of 3) and I specifically ordered cheese enchiladas. My partner said jokingly "they probably will give you chicken anyways" and I replied to check our food like as if it were like other taco fast food places that mess up your order via drive thru. Well, to my surprise at home, my enchiladas were indeed chicken. I couldn't eat it, had to throw it away so I paid for expensive beans and rice. Truly disappointed, I called the restaurant. They're willingness to make my order correct couldn't justify my drive time back and forth again from the restaurant. Again the food is great, I tip 20% always, so naturally I'm disappointed about this issue. So lesson learned, dine in only for us from now on. Otherwise, I'll go to the new restaurant on Kitty Hawk & Toepperwein. Leah's has yet to mess up any of our to-go orders. read more

I was so in the mood for some South of the Border cuisine but the BF was less than 2 blocks from home when I reached him to grab something on the way. In an effort to avoid Mickey D's, I requested he satisfy my cravings by stopping at "the place on the corner that's always busy". We both had the cheese enchiladas with beans, rice and a crispy taco. We where not disappointed by any means but not blown away. It was comparable to a really really good Taco Cabana. Now, you must know that when it comes to Mexican food, I'm not only a connoisseur but I'm a snob about it. It takes a lot to impress me in this food genre. Like you gotta bring your A game. A for Abuela... She might need to do the cooking to impress me. That being said, I must say that it was a pleasant experience and they earn the rating for convenience and portion size mainly. My boyfriend and I went on Sunday and we had excellent service (as always), and the food was hot and delicious. I had the huevos rancheros plate, and he had the pork chop and eggs, and we shared a bow of oatmeal. (It's a rather large serving, no complaints) Their "atole de avena" is soooo tasty, and brings back childhood memories. Not to mention; it's served with thick-slices of Texas toast. This is my absolute favorite place to get breakfast tacos since my high school days! No matter how packed they are, their food comes out in a reasonable time and also at the same quality. I would recommend calling ahead your order if you're picking up to go. However, I think that when you dine in the tacos are a little bigger! My favorite tacos are potato & egg, bean & cheese, and chorizo & egg. Always ask for extra sauce if you're ordering Togo because it's easy to use a whole pack for one taco. This place is a local legend! Affectionately known to my boyfriend and I as "Sab's", this is our go-to place for breakfast weekend or weekday. The tacos are definitely their number one selling point! HUGE tacos (not just breakfast tacos), and their incredibly cheap!! Our favorites are our own concoctions: -- sausage, egg, and bean -- carne asada, egg, and bean And then of course the classic bean and cheese is delicious here!! Oh oh!! And the Al Pastor taco is my close second favorite!! We've also enjoyed their carne asada plate, fajitas, enchiladas, enchiladas en mole, crispy tacos... Don't forget to grab an Horchata or a Sweet Tea!! They do it right here!! I come here frequently with my boyfriend and I never have a bad experience. My mother came to visit and she recommends the puffy tacos. Breakfast is amazing too. My dad LOVED the chorizo. I don't have a favorite dish yet. All of them are very good so far. The flour tortillas are home made and very good. Alicia is the absolute BEST. She always has a great attitude and a smile. It's really the only "real" Mexican joint on this side of town. Their horchata and carne asada tacos are good; their caldo is medicinal, totally something i have to have on cold days or when i'm feeling under the weather. But the staff thinks the music is for their personal enjoyment. it is LOUD LOUD LOUD and they won't turn it down even when asked. I came here following recommendations from a superior at work with elevated expectations -- it was elaborated upon to me that this establishment served the best mexican food in san antonio, despite it being in converse. so with high hopes in mind, i drove my happy rear eight miles east to converse, despite there being perfectly decent-looking tacquerias and mexican restaurants right outside of my work vicinity. My first impression of the establishment was that it was packed with the right color (sorry for not being PC but this is probably the best way to get this message through) of people inside the joint -- the moment I walked in to the restaurant, I was pleased to see that the restaurant was mostly populated with people of a darker skin complexion--not to steer away any of you fair-er skinned people, of course-- which is usually a good sign for any "ethnic" restaurant in their non-native land. Since I was a little short on time, I ordered a burrito con carne with my favorite and most noble cut of the cow (lengua) and took the order to go. Being sunday afternoon, the restaurant was pretty packed so it took them a little longer than I'd expect for them to bring my tongue-rice-and-beans-wrapped-in-flat-corn/wheat-flatbread, but the lady at the counter was nice enough to offset this inconvenience in the form of a small consumable bribe. (note to any californians reading this review: i have yet to find a tacqueria in texas that just gives you chips+salsa as part of your meal when you order a burrito) Anyway, on to the proverbial bread and butter itself: the tortilla was toasted, which is a huge no-go in my burrito paradigm, but the lengua was almost cooked to perfection; the meat was both chewy and soft at the same time, instead of having the cheap boiled-down flavor. The salsa/sauce they drowned the lengua in had an unfamiliar, yet nice tangy flavor to it which was pure joy for my tastebuds, despite the fact that I was trying to consume this meal in a moving vehicle. I do realize it's probably both unwise and unfair to judge a mexican restaurant without having tried any of its traditional entrees, so i fully intend on giving this place and this review an update after a second visit, hopefully in the near future; but for now, this hungry yelper remains satisfied. read more

This review is for the breakfast tacos. This is your typical San Antonio style TexMex place, just like the places I used to go as a kid. I suspect they have been here a long time, and the prices seem like they are from the 1980s (where else can you get tacos for $1.29?). Their salsa is delicious, and really enjoyed the chips. This place was actually really good. I went with a very large group, probably of about 20 people for a rehearsal dinner before we went to the church. The service was FAST... Even though we were such a large group, our cups were always full and we had our food so incredibly quick! The food is traditional tex-mex but for the price, incredibly affordable. I got the #30 that came with an enchilada, 1 puffy taco and one regular taco all for about $6 and I couldn't finish my food I was so full! The service is very friendly too. read more

Saborsitos is an old and new favorite place for Mexican food. All the dishes we had then and now were very flavorful and of good quality. The borracho beans are a good substitute for the refried beans and if there is a fee for the change it is well worth the charge. We would dine here many years ago when it was a convenient location, now it is still worth the 45minute drive for us just not a frequently. read more

First thing I notice as we enter is an abundance of seating. The waitresses immediately greeted us and took our drink orders. The food definitely falls in the Tex mex category, but it was scrumptious. I ordered the chicken verde enchilada and they were delicious. I got the chicken fajitas. The chicken was dry but it was still good. The tortillas was to die for good. Very soft and warm. I love food with a lot of seasoning but the rice was extremely salty. Tasty food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. My family loves to order take home from here. I love the mole enchiladas and the chicken fluatas. My mom loves their borracho beans. My son loves the carne burrito with gravy on it. They make sure you have enough food, so you will be full. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because sometimes they make a mistake with our order and twice the refried beans have been really dry. Since I mentioned this to the woman at the take out window, she always makes sure my order is right. It was our first time here. We went for an early dinner to beat the crowd. My enchiladas (cheese) were warm at the most and typically one would expect gooey creamy cheese inside. I was disappointed to see that the cheese was not fully melted at all and the Queso on top was just shredded/crumbled and not melted at all.
