Craving an asada torta so I Ordered in because my lunch is on 30 minutes and i work clear across town! Super friendly service. I've came here for years, and keep coming back! Today, I was a bit disappointed, their lettuce was old and dry and the bottom bread was super soggy and they missed the avocado. I'm use to having the bread be a little crunchy, not this time. And I've ordered to-go many times before.

I opened Apple Maps and…read morechecked the pismo beach area and Ventana Grill was the first restaurant that stood out to me based on location, therefore, I made a reservation. Note that the parking lot, depending on which day you go, can fill up very quickly. The location is right off of the 101 and easy to find. We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes at a booth that overlooked the beautiful views of the Pismo Beach coast line. Our server, a younger black woman, who told us her nickname was 'TiTi', if I'm not mistaken, was wonderful. Her personality and hospitality was infectious and exceeded 5 stars. She brought us fresh hot corn and flour tortillas with a small cup of brown sugar butter and three different salsas to try. Everything was delicious. We ordered the surf and turf special which was a jumbo shrimp on top of a filet mignon that rested on mash potatoes and a creamy/savory white sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptionally good. My only takeaway would be that I found the food, especially the lobster Mac and cheese to be pretty salty. Definitely excited for my next visit.

He spoke very quickly, didn't smile and seemed to just want to get through the order. In addition, his accent made it even harder to understand. Our drink order was messed up. They gave us the wrong drink as a freebie which we didn't like. I guess to make up for the mix up. Then our dinner came immediately before our tortillas as appetizers. Catch of the day was sea bass with a few veggies and rice. Definitely not special. The flourless chocolate cake was dry. Overall a very underwhelming dinner. So sad. Probably not going back.

From the hostesses to the bartenders to the chefs, everyone knows how to create a beautiful experience for the guests! In the past I've tried the afrodisíaco dish and was blown away but I wanted to excite myself with a different dish so I chose the Mixto dish and wow! The flavors just burst in your mouth with how bright they are, the dish is set under Ceviche but this is so much more elevated than your typical view of ceviche dishes! My boyfriend ordered the Dragon Lake cocktail and absolutely loved it! The ingredients are so well incorporated you don't find yourself tasting a drink with overpowered liquor that drowns out the other ingredients! He's a bartender so he appreciates a well made drink! On his end he loved his plate although I didn't catch the name of it, it was beautifully plated and it showed through with the taste of each bite as well! This is a MUST visit if you're ever back in the SLO area.

We decided to have two appetizers with a large moqueca with seafood. All dishes were excellent !! Service was good too! Price was reasonable I strongly recommend one to try this place.

Moqueca has one thing going for it immediately: location. Sitting quietly in the harbor in Channel…read moreIslands Harbor, the setting is relaxed and pleasantly unpretentious. It's the kind of place you stumble into after a day on the water, which actually feels appropriate for a seafood-forward Brazilian restaurant. The problem is the food never quite matches the promise of the name. I lived in Brazil for a while, so I tend to chase those flavors when I see a Brazilian restaurant. This place tries, and the food is perfectly tasty, but authenticity is where things start to drift. The menu hits some expected notes. You'll see things like moqueca, picanha, bolinho de bacalhau, camarão ao alho, and caldo verde. On paper that all sounds promising. But the execution feels softened and Americanized, and the overall menu reads like a curated sample of Brazilian dishes rather than something that feels rooted in an actual Brazilian kitchen. Moqueca itself, the dish the restaurant is named for, should be a vibrant stew layered with dendê oil, coconut milk, cilantro, lime, and peppers, the kind of thing that hits you with aroma before the spoon even reaches your mouth. Here it's fine, but it lacks the depth and brightness that make the real version so memorable. Feijoada shows up as a special some days, which is good to see, but honestly it's the kind of dish that lives or dies by its ingredients and slow cooking. With good cuts and some patience I can make a better one at home. The biggest red flag on the entire menu, though, is what's missing. There is no Pão de queijo. For a Brazilian restaurant, that's almost an affront. Pão de queijo is practically the national snack; warm, chewy little cheese breads made with tapioca flour that show up everywhere from bakeries to gas stations in Brazil. Leaving it off the menu feels like opening an Italian restaurant and deciding bread isn't necessary. Portions are also very American. Plates are enormous. That might sound like a positive, but it often just means a lot of food gets wasted unless you pack it up. For those of us staying on nearby boats in the harbor, hauling leftovers around isn't exactly ideal. None of this means the restaurant is bad. The food is good enough, the seafood is solid, and the harbor setting is pleasant. But if you're coming here hoping to revisit the flavors of Brazil, it falls short. It feels more like a Brazilian-inspired restaurant designed for American expectations than a place that truly captures the cuisine. It's enjoyable. Just don't expect the Brazil you remember.
