The food here is top notch. Truly delicious every time. I don't quite know how they get everything perfect every time. We've come here 8-10 times since they've opened and the consistency is impressive. We typically order the family meal + empanadas and we're always very satisfied. The cheese empanada's are incredible. We have rotated through the chicken, pork, and brisket family meals and are always impressed by how tender and perfectly seasoned everything is. The portions are incredible too, so we are always eating leftovers for days afterwards. I dont love the new change where if you order ahead they dont start making it until you arrive and pay (we usually pay in cash). But I assume this is because a customer didnt arrive after placing a big order and their margins are thin. Not convenient for me, but the food is good enough that Ill work with them on it. read more

Great food and excellent service! We ordered the crispy fish arepa, veggie arepa, and chips with guasacaca. All of it was delicious. The star of the show was honestly the sauce in the green bottle on the table. Not sure what it was but it tasted like a cilantro lime crema and it was good on everything! read more

This is a new restaurant off the Argyle Red Line stop in the Uptown neighborhood. Fun decor, incredibly unassuming. You're here for the food, not a lot of bells and whistles. Order and pay at the counter, and they'll bring it out to you. I didn't even ask if they have a BYOB policy, but there was no alcohol on the menu. I had brisket arepas. They were filled with fried plantains, black beans, tender brisket, cheese, and sour cream. It really was a delightful experience and incredibly filling! Go check them out. Love this place as an addition to the neighborhood! There are so many things on the menu I want to try so we'll definitely be putting this in our rotation. For our first visit we got the chicken tacos and the Venezuelan taste meal, which is an awesome option to get a little sampling of several items. Portion sizes were generous! The tacos are not tiny little ones that will leave you hungry. One of our favorite bites was the empanada, but everything was good and tasted fresh, clean, and healthy. I was a big fan of El Rincon De Fabio. The food was flavorful and very reasonably priced. The interior is still pretty bare bones given that it's a very new place, but the service was very fast. I can't help but compare this to Bien MeSabe given their cuisine, proximity and my affinity for Bien. Rincon is less frills, a more focused menu, and more affordable. The quality is a notch below Bien, but that is to be expected with the price savings. Overall, a worthy opponent but not to the same level IMO. Rincon would get a 4.5 from me if I could, but since I can't I round up. Definitely a welcome addition to Argyle! read more

Welcome to the neighborhood, El Rincón de Fabio! Just recently discovered that we had a Venezuelan restaurant in Uptown. I love my arepas so now I have somewhere to go within walking distance. Yes they had a nice selection of food that I can eat on their menu and the items are reasonably priced. Eventually I will get to taste everything on the menu, that I have no restrictions to eat (everything but two items). It is a great discovery to get a taste of Venezuela before I bring my family to Chicago. read more

Absolutely delicious! We live down the street, so were excited to see a new local spot. We got takeout and were blown away by how good the food is. We got a steak arepa, fish arepa, and taquenos. The steak was super flavorful, the fish was crispy and had a really tasty slaw, and the taquenos were exactly what were were hoping for. Will definitely be going back and will become a regular spot. Not amazing I tried arepas in the past at Florida a few times and they were amazing so I thought here was gonna be the same. So sad I been wanting to try them for so long. I ordered the Queen and was mostly cheese. Cilantro sauce wasn't even amazing. I really wanted to like it since I tried arepas before and they were great. Is ok food is food but since I try better in the past including a fantastic cilantro sauce I can't give better review. Is ok but not amazing. Woah! Was very surprised by our meal tonight, so incredibly flavorful and delicious. Surprisingly, it was much better than our regular arepa restaurant. We had the tequenos, vegueara (steak) arepa, crispy fish arepa, and chicha. Each arepa comes with two small/medium-sized arepas. This was too much food for two people, we have plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We ordered takeout and everything was fresh, hot and ready when we arrived. The restaurant is small but cute. We will definitely be back to try more items and will dine-in next time. read more

I have never gone to a Venezuelan restaurant before. I was excited when my doctor mentioned that one had opened up on Argyle Street. One of my favorite Hispanic dishes from any of a number of countries is rice and beans. I lived in New Orleans for a year and developed a love for the dish. It is very different in different places. El Rincon does black beans and rice. It is fantastic for lovers of same. They are new and the meni is new to me (again never had from that country before.) The U S Army put me in Panama where I met plantains and I was not a fan. This place knows how to make them tasty. I had thePantacones. That is a fine sandwich using large slices of fried plantains instead of bread. I was very happy. I now have a different opinion of plantains. They are a new restaurant. The decorations are festive. The tables are card tables with folding chairs. I know a lot about restaurants. They are doing it right. They spend a lot of money on high quality ingredients. Much of their cistom is to go as I saw. When they have been open for a year and the money is coming in more speedily I am sure that they will replace them with fewer and better tables an chairs. I am sure that they will get there and they are smart in their business sense. I have seen restaurants that spent too much on tables etc. and did not last. Don't wait for the fancy tables and pass up a chance to try this interesting and new food. I believe that the man that I spoke with was Victor. We talked food and a lot about Venezuela. I had entertained dinner at this restaurant with a friend on 11/2/ 2023@ 5:00p We asked to be seated at a table when at the counter. The man attending told us that myself a Latin American. My friend African American and I had to pay before seeting ourselves. When I tried to communicate with the employee in Spanish. Being we are both Latinos. He refused and only responded to me in English. While speaking to other Hispanics in Spanish. After paying for our food we noticed a white party behind us being seated before paying and handed menues. My buddy and I were not afforded that hospitality! Nor was the treatment or experience inviting. Sounds like discrimination goes on at this restaurant!?? Uptown is an inclusive diversified part of the city. As well as the Argyle Business District. The food was so good! I've not had Venezuela food before, so I had no expectations. I got some arepas, both cheese and meat, and a chicken empanda. I ordered ahead of time, and it was ready on time and hot. Everything was flavorful, and I had enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The items I got were fried, but I didn't notice any grease. Even when I reheated the next day, it wasn't soggy and kept well. I'm excited to try again. read more

This food was delicious, which makes the poor service we received so much harder. From the moment we walked in, the server/cashier was standoffish and told us (interracial couple) and the only other Black customers in the establishment to order our food at the counter when we were ready. I didn't think this was weird until I realized all other customers were being served at their tables, given polite conversation and attention, and paying after their meal was finished. Im not at all someone who expects service workers to perform niceties, but this guy was straight up rude to us. The discrimination in treatment and processes was the most blatant I've experienced in any business, and left a sour taste in my mouth. Super unfortunate for so many reasons - the obvious racism being top of the list. But also because I could see myself being a regular here (I live just down the street). However, NO ONE deserves to be treated that way at any establishment, even if it's not a 'race thing'. read more

We read about this new restaurant in Block Club Chicago and decided to take our two toddlers there for dinner tonight. All four of us loved our dinner (we got a bit of everything), including our 4 year old repeating "super, super, super good" throughout the meal. The service was quick as well. I ordered veggie tacos to go. They were good but the corn tortillas on all 3 broke as soon as I picked them up. They were still good but they need to double up on the corn tortillas in their tacos. That's my only complaint read more
