We had not been to El Rancho for a couple, due to poor service and mediocre food at our last visit. We were in town and decided to give them another try. We were seated quickly and our drink orders taken. Tonya our server & cook was very geacious. She informed us the cook had to leave so she would be cooking and she was not sure how the food would turn out. Well, the chimichanga was cooked perfectly and tasted great. We spent 20 minutes talking to her after we finished our meal. The seating is typical tables and booths and they had music playing softly. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience. We arrived early 1 pm on Valentine's Day. The salsa is bland but my girlfriend doesn't like hot salsa so that was ok. The chips tasted stale but it was lunchtime so maybe they were old. The entrees are served without beans and rice but that was ok. But they charged $7 for extra chips and salsa. So it was bland stale and expensive. Unforgivable. Then they refused my Amex card. So I have forgotten any positive aspects of the meal. read more

Checked hours online. Said 9pm. Showed up at 7:20. Waiters 15 minutes. Was told the kitchen was closed and that I needed to gone to the business to find out the hours. Don't bother going. I won't be back to try it again. "you should have called" is an attempt to push blame to your customers for your not maintaining your hours in Google, your website, and yelp. This is a simple task to maintain 3 locations operating hours, it takes 5 minutes. In addition, your hours should the hours you serve your customers. If a customer shows up before closing they get served. If you want to close the kitchen early then change your hours to the times the kitchen is open read more

This place gets two stars because the staff was pleasant and got our order correct. Never brought/offered drink refills. Enchiladas were bland. The taco salad I ordered had RAW hamburger in it. It was also swimming in a liquid that I thought may be water, it was also overfilled with lettuce. The women's bathroom floor was disgusting. We told our server about the raw meat, first she tried to question it as if it were just colored by the seasoning, but then she agreed it was raw. Bad food, worse ambiance, parking lot pothole city, needed wader boots just to get from vehicle to door of restaurant. Waitress was was nice albeit As an update to my review, and due to the owners kind gesture ; I should have been more fair in my review as to include why I did not care for the food, I had the chili relleno and the tamale . I ate the tamale and it was ok light on filling though , however that chili relleno was a mess , tasted previously made and reheated so it's outcome was soggy and limp. The salsa tasted heavy of oregano for some reason, and although the waitress was nice she never returned with our tapatio hot sauce. It was a rainy cold day and the parking lot was full of deep watery potholes. I really think if the owners care like it sounds in their reply maybe I was just there on an off day. Husband ordered a chimichanga and didn't understand why it looked different than the picture showing one large chimi when he got two tiny ones...I would like a good Mexican restaurant in town so hope this helps. I came here for dinner, and the restaurant was actually almost full. I ordered the sizzling plate of shrimp and fish, which came with onions and bell peppers, as well as a plate of rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce (I got it without beans and sour cream though). I also ordered churros for dessert. Surprisingly, my churros came out first, and they were filled churros with apple sauce. I wish it had said that on the menu, and it came with a bunch of whipped cream with sprinkles. The churros were covered with sugar and drizzled with caramel I think. They were a tad sweet, and even though they weren't hot and fresh, they were still crunchy. I wondered how that was achieved. My sizzling plate came out soon after, and it was very bland. I felt like they just tossed on the fish and shrimp without actually cooking it on the plate with the vegetables. I was not a fan of this dish at all. The fish and shrimp weren't hot, and all the flavor was in the onions and bell peppers. The guacamole was really fresh and tasty though! Lettuce and rice were average. All this was about $20 post-tax, and it was a lot of food. They also give complimentary chips and salsa which is cool. The service was average, and the ambiance was quiet and comfortable. read more

Pretty solid little neighborhood Mexican place in an old Dairy Queen. The owners wife waited on us and was very helpful and friendly. Margaritas were pretty mediocre, tasted like they can from a mix. We were seated waited 15 minutes for her to get our drink order( there were two other tables four people total), okay fine...then told her "helper" "well they're going to have to fu&king wait" (implied to my family) okay fine, swallowed that too. So another ten minutes goes by...waiting to get our drinks...out comes our food...here we sit no drinks, no silverware...the waitress says"I'll get you another plate for the children" I replied "no thanks, I'm not concerned about it, but I would like forks and our drinks though." She looks at me and says "oh great, another rude bitch" I've quickly replied "excuse me!?!?!" If every small town could have a little Mexican restaurant like this, they would be lucky. Nothing fancy, but good, solid food. The highlights being those simple pleasures like fresh chips and salsa and phenomenal refried beans. Surprised by the perfectly cooked and spiced garlic shrimp.
