One of the better Mexican restaurants in Effingham! The food is delicious and the staff is amazing, we dined on a Saturday around 5 and it wasn't too busy. The guacamole was the freshest we had the county, and the food was too. We had the arroz con pollo and the camarones à la diabla, delicious! I will say there was a LOT of cheese, I would ask for no cheese in the future. I feel as though that took away from the taste. The prices are great too! Plenty of parking, and the chips and salsa were delish. I do wish the inside got a deep clean or renovation, but nothing too bad that wouldn't bring me back. read more

I've eaten at El Ranchito many times since I moved here to Springfield, GA. The food's consistently good and reasonably priced; and the service has been good. My only issues with the restaurant - no webpage and no online menu I can easily view. You can find some websites that has pictures of the menu but unless you have a magnifying glass or can read small print - you can't read the menu. Please create a website or include a link to a current menu so customers can place a 'to-go' order. read more

Greeted with fresh chips and amazing salsa... The food at El Ranchito was very flavorful. I ordered a delicious combination plates, with a shredded beef enchilada and a chicken tamale, served with rice and refried beans. We dined right after lunchtime, the ambiance was chill, we were seated immediately, and our food was brought out in great time. Service was great. Classic Mexican food, you almost do not need to even look at the menu. But the food is good, cheese dip and salsa are great . Service is hit and miss, the girls there are all good, but a few of the men.. not so much, they forget about you once you get your food. We eat here a lot, My sons and I eat here often, it is right up the street from the house. As others have said, it is the typical Mexican restaurant, with the typical menu. The staff has always been very friendly, but at times they seem overwhelmed, this place gets packed at times. There have been a few times that we had to park in the parking lot next to them, and wait a few minutes to be seated. The food is always good, I love their chili releno! Since Mexican is my family's favorite food to eat when we go out to eat, this place fills our need. Oh, and if you like margaritas, theirs are awesome!!!! read more

If you want nachos don't go here literally asked for just plain cheese nachos and they messed it up and brought it out fully loaded nachos with decent cheese melted on top. After we told them it was supposed to be just plain cheese nachos they brought out another one less than a min later and didn't even attempt to melt the cheese at all looks like cottage cheese and was cold. read more

The food was alright though nothing notable. The margarita had no alcohol or really flavor at all but the worst was the service. The young hostess was almost actively hostile. Not friendly at all and didn't seem to even know the basics of waitressing or the menu. Even though this is right down the street it's worth it to go somewhere else. Will not return. read more

We had a family dinner here with some locals and out of towers. We called to see if they could accommodate a group of 14 and they said that they could. It was not busy when we were there. The service was slow and spotty. Meals came to the table a few at a time. What arrived was less than attractive. Small amount of beef in a steak taco, with only shredded lettuce on the side. My fish tacos had two small pieces of fish, purple cabbage and pico de gallo that had was mostly onions. Other people thought that their meals lacked flavor. The chips and salsa was good and not overly spicy. Probably won't return. I hope this restaurant gets their act together so they will survive. read more

It's been over a year since we ate here. The food quality & service had been going down for a while. The final straw for us was the stale chips. When asked for fresh, the waitress brought us the original chips that had been run through a broiler and were nearly burnt. We asked for new, and it was several minutes later when she brought a new basket of stale chips. We told her these were stale as well, and we were told "That's all we have." We placed our order and when it finally came, my wife's taco salad bowl was nearly burnt and my chimichangas were extremely well done. We told our waitress about this & she replied, "Maybe we'll be better next time." We told the manager about our experience as we left and barely got an apology. Haven't been back since, and dont plan to. 9/27/19 - after receiving assurances from Angel that things had improved, we decided to try again . Bad choice! We placed our drink order and they couldn't get that right (unsweetened tea wasn't & Coke is not Sprite). The chips were still stale & overcooked. Then our meals came out - our D-I-L's taco salad had undercooked shrimp, the chicken & beef looked horrible. My wife's nachos looked like they swept them off the floor & were not what she ordered. My chimichangas were supposed to be fried - one was not, and they were both drowning in sauce. To top it off, the service was atrocious. I thought our waitress was in training, but it turns out she was the one the manager left in charge, since he was not there. We decided enough was enough & left. The salsa here is good and they have a really nice spicy one if you ask. The staff is always nice and friendly though never really exceptional. The food is decent. I've never had a bad meal here. I've never had an amazing meal here either. It's decent. That's all there is to it. We will continue to eat here; it's close and fills you up and it's not a chain. So the one good thing, I loved the salsa. And that's the only good thing. Food took forever and I wish now they had just kept it. Two plates came out swimming in cheese water. Everything else was bland and tough. My husband bent his fork cutting a burrito! While this is a typical Mexican restaurant with the usual menu items, it is somehow better than many others I have been to. Our food always comes out hot -- but the plate isn't hot as if it just came from the microwave like others I have known to do. WORST MEAL EVER!!! I guess if you use door dash, they figure you can't complain. Ordered a combo that was supposed to be 2 entres and rice and beans. I was offered a choice of meats... I chose shredded beef. I ordered tamales and Chile rienos. There was two tiny strings of chicken in the very over cooked tamale and some sort of ground mystery meat in the Chile. It was the color of cat food. The rice was dry and flavorless. The so-called refried beans had no beans! It was something soupy and bean colored in the bottom of the plate and was soured like they'd been kept at room temperature for way too long. Totally inedible. read more

I stopped in with family who eat here regularly when I was in town visiting. The service was ok and they brought me a spicier salsa when I asked that tasted good. I should state that I grew up eating Mexican food so it has to be great food for me to really like it. This is a an Americanized Mexican food place with the typical burritos, tacos etc. I would of probably given it 3 stars for the taste of the carnitas and salsa but my husband and I felt really sick that evening and the next morning. My husband and I try to go out twice a week. Well We just moved to the area and wanted to try Ranchito. NEVER AGAIN! The ceiling didn't look like it has been cleaned in months. the dust was just hanging from the fans and tiles on the ceiling. Blowing and falling into food. The salsa was more like soup or baby food. It was horrible. The nachos were not bad but didn't have much flavor. Service was lacking. I sat for most of the time with an empty glass. We ordered our food, Cheesy Steak Burritos with pico-de-gallo was horrible and had way to much cilantro. It was so bad it made me sick with the amount of cilantro. The refried beans and rice was OK but again, hardly any flavor. The steak inside the burritos were nothing but fat and gristle. The sauteed onions were either burnt or not done. The place is highly overpriced for the product and it was the worst food my husband and I have ever had. It was a waste of $30 and I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone who asks. I will tell them to drive down to Rincon and try another place. read more
