I'd only been here one time before, but I thought the food was excellent, & I knew they were pretty close, so I called. The sweetest young woman told me that they had $2 taco Tuesdays! Beef/chicken, soft/ hard shell. I was honestly so hungry, I took a bite of the middle 1 & that's why it's turned around, and doesn't look all that great. They were excellent. Those tacos were stuffed, I could only eat 1, brought the other 2, home. I didn't eat a whole lot of chips, either, but let's talk about the homemade salsa! Spicy perfection! You can purchase a lg ($8) or small ($4). I got the Lg one, and Pam the #NumeroUno waitress in the entire , was kind enough to put the salsa into 2 containers for me. I was really grateful for that because if I'd had just the lg container, my small household probly wouldn't hv finished it b4 it, expired(?). Pam was just a gem all the way around. Great spot, excellent service, kid friendly...you must visit.

Unfortunately, it completely took away that little glimmer of hope I had. The service is honestly the best part -- the employees are super kind and welcoming, and they always treat you with respect. I really appreciate that about them. But everything else just misses the mark. The ambiance and decor look very cheap and thrown together -- it feels more like they raided a dollar store for decorations. It really needs a lot of work to match the quality you'd expect from a restaurant charging the prices they do. The food is okay -- not terrible, but definitely not great either. It's just average, which would be fine if it were priced fairly. But for what you're getting, it's way too expensive. To make matters worse, they've never gotten my order right, which gets frustrating after giving them multiple chances. Overall, I can't recommend Los Pinguinos. It feels like a waste of money, and I left more disappointed than anything. I wanted authentic flavor and a nice experience, but this just wasn't it.

Now here we are celebrating another family members Birthday and we were a party of seven tonight (Six of us were from the previous celebration)... stay with me, there's a point I'm going to make. So, we all had very different orders and drinks two months ago and everything was fabulous as it always is and it just so happens that we got the same Waitress tonight that we had before and not only did she remember us, but she also remembered what each one of us ordered. I mean food AND Drinks... down to the Sugar Rim on the Margaritas and the side shots on some other drinks being served! She even remembered that I ordered Lime and Cilantro on the side of my meal and had a preference of Corn Tortillas! COME ON MAN!!! PIA IS AMAZING!!! Juan Miguel's... I don't know what you guys are paying this young woman, but whatever it is... it is not enough! She is phenomenal! Don't get me wrong, we come there for the fantastic food but Pia has made the experience something much more special than we anticipated. She's truly the type of employee that you ALWAYS take care of. She's good for business. We'll see you guys next month. We told her so and we know one thing for certain... SHE WON'T FORGET!

My wife and I started off with some drinks, the blueberry lavender margarita and the mango sunrise. The first thing that came to mind when I tried the former was "Mexican long island." The mango sunrise was delicious, and one of the better margaritas I've had locally. As for the food, we began the meal with complimentary chips and salsa and bowls of chicken tortilla soup. The chips were a bit stale. I order chicken tortilla soup most times it's on a menu, and this one was solid. For our appetizers, we got Miguel's nacho grande and a deep fried flour taco. Of these, I definitely preferred the nachos over the taco. I also preferred the flour chips from the nachos over the regular corn chips. For our entrees, my wife got cheese quesadillas, and I got the trio fajita. The quesadillas were run-of-the-mill. The trio fajita includes chicken, shrimp, and steak, and is quite a hearty dish. For dessert, we got the flan, which was to die for. My 3 favorite dishes from the meal were the soup, the nachos, and the flan. I would rather drive down to Mexicantown to get my fix of Mexican, but Juan Miguel's is a spot I would go back to.

All I can say is keep them pouring. The Cowboy Burrito is pretty darn good and enough to share. Micala (spell check) our waitress the last time is pretty good too. Ambience/atmosphere sucks as the place has been open for over a year and is just wood slapped in the walls. Need to finish like yesterday.

We are idiots who want to spend out hard earned money on substandard service and food. If you want to TLDR: Go to Taco Bell. Starters: Chips and a salsa flight kinda thing. There was Pico. I didn't try, my son did and said it tasted like vinegar. There was a cheese sauce kinda dip thing. The cheese skin was already formed when it reached our table. The cheese sauce thing was alright. If I never have it again, I won't miss it. Then there was the guac. To the staff making the guac, don't use the avocado when it turns brown. That's not good, not appetizing. I found some none brown, and it was over powered by the cilantro. So, I guess when you cannot make guac, bury the taste in cilantro. Bottom-line on this: Avoid it. Save the cash. Dinner: Barbacoa street tacos. My son ordered these. Three of them. With a massive side of meh refried beans and a mound of dry "Mexican" rice. One bite was enough, he did not finish. Enchiladas: My wife ordered cheese enchiladas, and they showed up with the mountain of dry rice, and bland refried beans. She ate half of one, said they tasted funny. Dipped chips in the beans and ate that. She said she regretted coming to the restaurant. Not just the enchiladas. Chimichanga: Same rice. Same beans. Daughter said that she'd rather have Taco Bell. The majority of the meal was left untouched. Tacos Pastor: Same rice. Same beans. Bland. How do you make bland Pastor?! I ate them as I was hungry by this point, but something seemed off. Like they were phoned in. And...today at Sams Club, I found: Pastor Taco filling in the re-heat section of the Club. The shape of the cut? The same! In fact, I'd bet that that's what I was served. Reheated (in a microwave) Sam's Club Pastor. Then there's the service. Rude is the first impression, follow by total apathy. There was no one in the restaurant when we arrived, and only one person came in while we were there. The entire staff were buried on their phones. When they had to engage with us -- which was rare -- it was as if we were asking them to roll a boulder up the side of a mountain. They simply didn't want to be inconvenienced. They wanted to be tipped and that's all they cared about. The cost of the meal vs the reality of the meal: $100 for four people, for substandard, bland Mexican food, that could be outdone by a fast food outlet. Add in the apathetic staff, and I cannot stress strongly enough that you should avoid this place. Save your money. If you must have Mexican food in Oxford, there are other places. And all of them are better. This restaurant deserves to go out of business.
