Very good but the cheese was not to my liking. My husband liked my dish. I'd just had different cheese at other tex mex restaurants. I plan to order another dish next time. AMAZING service! On that alone I highly recommend this place when you are in the area. My drink never lasted even a second empty before it was refilled. The waiter was very polite and respectful. The food came with free chips and salsa which is a major plus and the fajitas is a 8.5/10. I tried a few other items on the menu and it was just as good or greater than my 8.5 rating. Eatable food would be a good start. I ordered cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The cheese tasted like butter, similar to gas station nacho cheese. The beans and rice had NO flavor at all!! My husband's quesadillas wasn't cooked all the way through and the cheese was barely melted. There are some negative reviews, but they do not reflect our experience. Yes, the food is Tex Mex (I'm not sure what some people were expecting.) but it is well done and served hot. We eat here fairly often, and they get the basics right. The service is generally fast and responsive, albeit without a lot of chit-chat. My son was accosted by a middle aged white woman at this restaurant. While sitting at the bar attempting to read and have a dinner, this woman starts yelling and accusing him of not talking to her or purchasing her food and drink. He explained that he was studying, to no avail. He was taken aback a bit. Initially, he thought maybe she was joking, but no! She went as far as calling him a 'nigger' in a very threatening manner. If that were not troubling enough, the staff at the restaurant witnessed the entire scene. They said nothing! It was business as usual. He called for a manager. They apologized, but this rude woman was not asked to leave. So, he left out of disgust. Please think twice about patronizing this establishment. It is potentially unsafe! By ignoring this poor behavior, they are condoning it. The funny thing is he's a regular customer at this restaurant, they all even know him by name. What the heck is going on here. The first 5 years of operations definitely a 5 star. We ate there at least 2 times a week. Lately its just hit or miss, mostly MISS. The brothers need to get a grasp on the kitchen and get back to what they used to do. I have to say food is better inside but for some reason the quality and freshness drops off drastically with To Go orders. Just recently on my order the chips were very stale and the taco shell was inedible. You couldn't even bite it into. No crunch at all. And the red dip is never the same. It's like if you order to go food they use the old stale stuff to try and get rid of it. Please bring in a better cook and get someone involved in quality control. Skip the queso dip. It's either Velveeta or Ricos. No peppers or any spices in it. Nothing original note to write home to mom about. I got beef, chicken, and cheese enchilada trio. Rice was good, beans normal. I felt my enchiladas were too "wet", as in they weren't drained enough. The flavor however was great on the chicken. Very moist inside. You can tell the chicken was freshly shredded. Beef enchilada was as expected, as well as the cheese. If you get enchiladas, stick with the chicken. This place catered fajitas for my work, they were great. I'm not opposed to returning. Not the worst, but not like my home favorite. The environment was great. Stopped in to eat while in Houston. Very disappointed... I read and heard such good things about this place. To top it off our waiter was RUDE! He acted put out having to take our order. My poor sister had to wait till he finished laughing and chatting with the other waiters before she could get the rest of her food. By this time we were all just about done. Always Great and Always Fast! Faustino and the boys always provide an excellent product. I believe the fajita beef is the best in the Kingwood area. Really good food at a fair price. This place is a family tradition after events in Waller.

We have been coming here for years and liked the food but not the salsa. Today 11/2022 the salsa was great! They finally have good tasting salsa and good food. Enchiladas all cabron with fajita beef are the best and so are the tamales. Service is great very attentive and you don't wait long for anything. We have been going year for at least 5 years. Every Monday for Mexican Monday's. that is how like to start our week. Four of us eat and margaritas. So the bill is right at $60 No big deal right. I have a coupon for $5 off $25 purchase so I say I will pickup the tab. When I get to the cashier she tells me she cannot honor my coupon because these were lunch specials. I explained to the young lady that one of the guys didn't have a lunch special. He had ordered off the regular menu. She told me that I had not spent enough off the regular menu i.e..$25. Wow I ask to speak to the manger and the other young lady tells me she is the manager. Never seen this lady before. I know who the owner is we have been coming here for years. My friends and I always ask the question. Do we want "Cheep Mexican" or "Expensive Mexican"? It all refers to Tex-Mex. This is our cheep Mexican place. We can usually get out of here at dinner for around $12 a piece unless you're drinking. This place started in an old Mr. Gatties and had about 10 tables. They are so well liked in the area; they have expanded 4 times in the last 6 or 7 years. They now have engulfed almost the whole strip center, and they are still packed on the weekends. Chips and salsa are really good; the Chalupas supreme is my favorite, with crunchy baked corn tortilla, refried beans, crisp iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, fresh guacamole, and lots of fajita chicken or beef, which is always tender and excellently seasoned. Other highlights include the Chef's special which includes a chalupa, taco al carbon, flauta, beans, and rice really tasty and a lot of food. Their enchiladas are really good but defiantly on the tex-mex side, with ranchero sauce and fake cheese over the top very tasty! Just to specify when we want expensive Mexican we go to Papacito's and order Fajitas but it is very costly especially with drinks. So El Ranchero really hits the spot and doesn't break the bank. read more
