Was there for a conference event, and then came back the next day for the full speakeasy experience. For the conference private event - top marks. Would hold something like a small wedding welcome cocktail hour here. Cocktails were batched in real time from a preset menu and good. Food was same as the speakeasy experience but served in trays with the waitresses. As a Speakeasy/ craft cocktail bar, this was everything it should be. Mixologists were excellent at a level similar to Oculto 477. The bartender offered a clarified Mai Tai inspired cocktail from the daily specials and it was completely worth the cost. That kicked off a craving for a classic Mai tai like False Idol, Trader Vic's, or Smugglers Cove. The bartender was able to deliver despite not being setup as a tiki bar (no mint garnish, crushed ice etc.) It was made with block ice but the cocktail tasted as it should. Great service, and top notch experience and would return and even consider booking for an event. Excellent ambiance, service and experience.

I mean, people totally still watch sports here of course and so do I, but what I mean is the space is bright and expansive, the location is lovely, and the monitors are ginormous. More importantly, the food and drinks are at least somewhat interesting. Not even sure if I've had hard kombucha before. I probably have, but I don't remember. These are largely light, sour, and fruity, which are the sort of alcohol I've been addicted to lately anyways. And they have cool fruits like dragonfruit and lychee. The bowls and fruit salad were what originally caught my eye. I was not feeling a berry salad, so I got a carne asada bowl, and it was delicious. The steak was soft and peppery, and the ratio of ingredients was well balanced. The hummus, kale, and salsas made for a fun Mediterranean flavor, and the basmati rice was fluffy and consistent. It's sad, but it's hard to find an Asian restaurant in town that makes a rice bowl this good.

The ambiance is relaxed, everyone is there enjoying their time and food/drinks. The drinks are my highlight, they taste so good and they are strong. The food was also surprisingly very delicious. I dont know what I was expecting but even the chicken nuggets were good. My son is already asking when we can go back to Novo for his yummy food.

And, only then will I entertain a night out unless I'm with the right group of people. I've been to this bar several times now and it's been nothing but good old fashion fun. You can be yourself and no one bothers you. It's not crazy crowded, at least when I've been there during the weekdays. I can actually find a seat at the bar or just lounge in the back area on a couch. There are also tables and chairs to choose from. There has been a DJ, live band, karaoke or just plain music jammin. The highlight for me: the bar tenders ! They were attentive and friendly. Shout out to Justin and I forgot young looking female bartender's name. Shout out to her too This bar may not be as lit and inviting looking from the outside, don't judge. Step inside, give it a try Oh and see how many frogs you can find around the bar ...I counted about 15 plus.

Their tacos are very flavorful and good size for the price you pay! These are definitely the closest I've had, taste-wise, to Tijuana style tacos here in SD. I would definitely recommend coming here, especially if you want to save yourself from the drive to Tijuana & the border crossing time back. My top recommendations from here would be the Taco de Cabeza and Mulita de Adobada! On a Thursday evening, this place had a good crowd, which suggested that it would be good! They have plenty of indoor seating, along with some limited patio seating. The parking lot was a good size given how full the place was! Aside from tacos, they have a great variety of Aguas frescas and beer! They also sell different Mexican snacks, as well as desserts! During this visit I only tried the menu for Taqueria Tiajuana, but I'll definitely be back to give El Cacho (seafood) a try!

Service was perfectly fine. I had no issues at all. Staff greeted us with a smile when we walked in. They were always checking up on us when we needed things. No issues at all. We had 11 tacos, cheese nachos, 2 beers and 1 margarita and it was about $50! So worth it! I highly recommend Kalaveras for Mexican food. Great vibes. Great happy hour prices. I think this place is good for large groups also. It may not be kid friendly later into the night but it's very worth it!

There's cool Mexican art on the wall and table was clean and wiped down. There's not too big of a menu and what they have is made really well. The chips and salsa were good. I like how light the chips are. The free salsa had more and better flavor than the red, but both are good. I got El Bàsico burrito and it was like how I used to eat it growing up when my parents would make it for me. I asked for a side of the poblano salsa they use for the chilaquiles and it was so good! It became with a side of plain crema. I left full and happy! My wife got a Quesataco with a side of frijoles and papas. The taco had a lot of meat and was super tasty. They gave you a small side of consume and that didn't disappoint either. The papas didn't have too much flavor but were nice and crispy. The beans were my wife's favorite.
