My wife and I have been eating here for years now. The first thing that brought us in are their fish taco specials on Tuesdays. We then began to explore their menu and have gotten carne asada, salmon, mojarra frita, their chicken platter, and even steak. They even have live music certain days of the week. If you want to eat outside, they have a patio with heat lamps. There is also a bar where you can order a beer or mixed drinks. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Food was ok, not extraordinary good, and i do have to recognize that their octopus wasn't as tender as it should be- scallops & shrimp were fresh in taste. The servers were very nice but the food just wasn't hittin. I came on 2 separate occasions and felt as if the food could be much better being that it is a food chain from Mexico. I got the aguachile and shrimp cocktail and there wasn't much flavor especially in the cocktail. I also got the fish tacos on the other occasion but I've definitely had better. Don't get me wrong the vibes were definitely there with live music but the food is just not hitting as it should. Well, I'm back home from this resraurant and I even had to go and look up my Yelp login, which I haven't used in forever, just to come here and say how much I LOVED food there! Some people mention the service, etc, these guys are real people with real nice attitude, not rude, they ARE very friendly and I have no idea why some reviews about service are so so. We were asked to sit down to wait for our order, it did NOT take long. So the CRAZY TACO is actually pretty crazy and insanely deliscious - protein overload - Meat, spicy shrimp and also mushrooms. Well, yeah, some fat but live a little. Very very very yummy. Then there is another spicy shrimp taco for me and ceviche/tostada. Everything was so good I feel sad we are done with the dinner already. It was a takeout so we had to rush home to have our dinner. Anyway, now I know what to do with my hunger, when I'm in Chula Vista next time. Too bad we didn't wait long enough for a live band! They have a live band and I feel awful that we got our takeout order so fast, but the time the band was about to start we had to go... Now I wish I knew where else they have their truck (I know they have one outside the restaurant and one in San Ysidro, at the Las Americas Outlet parking, at least the did). I live far from there so I'm kind of looking for their truck now around midtown San Dego. SEAFOOD NEGRO DURAZO !Un Orgullo Sinalonese! Of the batch of food trucks, this one caught my eye because of the name. I don't speak Spanish so seeing a specific word threw me off guard. I usually pay no minds to seafood food trucks but when a crowd of people and line seem to favor this one, it was worth a shot to try. But I didn't have high expectations. FISH & CHIPS - Wasn't feeling fish tacos but was craving fish in some form. This seemed suitable. Well, it wasn't the fanciest presentation but for a food truck I appreciate their efforts of not just dumping the food in a to-go box and actually attempting to arrange my food nicely. Thank you for that, I smiled when I opened the lid. The fish were more like fish nuggets but I felt the servicing size and serving portions of the fish were perfect for my appetite. The fish tasted good, the seasoned fried batter had a nice crunch and the layer of batter that covered the fish wasn't so thick; more fish than batter. It came with lemon and tartar sauce which were both nice compliments to the fish nuggets. Surprisingly the fries were good too. They were shoe string fries, fried perfectly, and didn't find one soggy fry! If I see this truck again, I will order this again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This was a meal so it also came with a beverage and chips. Unfortunately, most drink selections were sold out along with the chips. So by default, I was given without a choice the Jumex Duranzo drink and Churrumai's con Limoncito chips. I'm Asian so I had no idea what these items were. This great seafood food truck is always in the parking lot of the Las Americas outlet. My daughter loves the fish tacos here. So naturally after shopping, she said she was gonna buy me fish tacos for dinner. The lady who takes orders is always nice. Took our order right away. Food came out in about 10 minutes. My daughter ordered 4 fish tacos and a garlic shrimp taco. All were delicious. She really liked the garlic shrimp taco. I felt like it was just little shrimp with jarred minced garlic on a flour tortilla, but she really liked it. Fish tacos are perfect and I love the chipotle sauce on the side. Food was great. Service was good. Atmosphere was not good when we visited recently. The crowd that visits these mariscos type restaurant is sketchy sometimes. I don't know why. Last time my wife and I were there there was a couple seating behind us that appeared to be under the influence of either alcohol or drugs (most likely drugs). They were very loud and the "lady" started simulating sex with her male companion with full visual and sound effects. It was very explicit and don't appreciate it when my wife and I are there trying to have a nice lunch or other people there for the same reason. Negro Durazo staff didn't do anything and just let it go on. For this reason we are not coming back. There are other similar restaurants that probably are not as good as Negro Durazo (food) but I prefer it this way without the adult entertainment. read more

During a work trip down to SD, I ventured to the border to get my fix for some great tacos. As you can see in the pictures, this was beautiful, but I only saw the tip of the iceberg until my first bite. I had three of these tacos in two days. I made a Tik Tok about how I fell in love with this taco. I felt like I cheated on my wife when I ate this taco. Are you following me so far? When venturing off to the Parking lot of the Las Américas Outlets, I saw three taco trucks. I was happy. I walked up to the Birria truck first, but after eating so many Birria Tacos in my life, I wanted a change. Seafood called my name. And then there was the blue truck. That's where this love story begins. I ordered the Negro Durazo without knowing what infidelity I was about to unleash. The first bite was like kissing your celebrity crush while standing in front of your wife. I savored that taco for a great while until that last bite. Then I was sad. I called my wife and wouldn't shut up about this taco. Hands down the Negro Durazo Is the best I've ever had. Then I called my mom. I told her about this taco for ten minutes. Ordered the aguachiles with shrimp and Cameron in green sauce to go and it was delicious! First time trying, so I don't have anything to compare against, but they included a good amount of shrimp and octopus, not too much cucumber as I've read in reviews for some other places. They separate the aguachiles and the tostado to resemble yourself, which was good so the tostada wasn't a soggy mess. It came with saltines, assuming to help with the spice which is a bit stronger due to the lime juice. I liked the spice level, but my mouth was burning a bit shortly after They are open later than many other restaurants which I appreciated. Their website didn't work for me so I took some pictures from the menu that's available via QR code at the window where you can place to go orders. Likely will come back for some more! read more

Finally found a Mexican Style Seafood Eatery this side of the border!!! All of the dishes we've tried are fresh, tasty & PLENTIFUL!! The "Maleficio" is a Favorite! The Scallops are perfectly tender & the flavors are AMAZING!!! We also tried the Negro Durazo cocktail, it's was perfect! The combination & amounts was just right. And everything again was perfectly fresh! The only reason I took a star is customer service, that is one of my biggest pet peeves. I've worked in customer service my entire life and I always say if you don't want to help & serve people then don't work in customer service. (Period) And working as a restaurant server you are serving people 24/7... I don't think a customer/client should ever feel as if you are bothering them. Negro Durazo has been one of my to-go places since I moved to this area.. Initially, I found about this place during one of my visits to Tijuana. I really liked the food there, and I liked the fact that I paid Tijuana prices. About a month and half ago I had a friend from out of state visiting and I wanted to take him to a good restaurant. Initially, my intention was to take him to the restaurant in Mexico but since he is undocumented we had to discard that option. As a result, we ended up here. We both liked our food a lot, I had my usual Coconut Breaded Shrimp and he had a healthy baked fish (it's cooked inside a piece of aluminum foil), no idea what the chef is doing, but my friend was happy with it. As predicted, this restaurant's prices are significantly higher than TJ's, but the food is really good so we did not mind spending a few extra bucks. And by the way, TJ's location is about 4 times bigger than this one. Definitely keeping this place handy, can't wait for them to reopen and enjoy more delicious seafood. read more

This review is based on a dine in experience in December 2018. I was near the Chula Vista mall and wanted a quick bite for something different. Since I had already tried everything at I decided to go a few blocks north to Negro Durazo as a buddy of mine recommended the place a few months back. Negro Durazo features standard Baja California coastal cuisine. After scanning the menu for a couple of two or three minutes I settled on a Gobernador Taco and a margarita. While I waited for my order chips and salsa were brought over. My taco was great and the margarita was good. I was disappointed in the ounce to dollar ratio. If you come on a Friday night expect to hear a loud band playing. I was a bit puzzled that the wait staff were all male. The men's bathroom could use a renovation.
