We just stumbled across our newest favorite place for lunch. El Pollo Rico is located on Everegreen Way and Casino in a strip mall and it's absolutely DELICIOUS. I had green enchiladas and my husband had the Barbacoa and Horchata. Food came out quickly and hot and everything was fantastic. The sauces had so much depth and flavor. The tortillas were obviously fresh and housemade, serve steaming hot. Service was kind and helpful. The restaurant itself was very clean. An added bonus is that there's a great Mexican grocer and bakery right next door. So good! read more

Came here with my wife to have lunch after passing by this restaurant daily. I'm so glad we did because the bbq chicken was great! My wife got the mole plate and I got the half chicken plate with chiles toreados and grilled onions on the side. The chicken was flavorful and it came with some good rice and beans. The place was busy when we came in but was clearing out while we were waiting for our food. The staff was very kind and helpful. They take credit cards but tip is left in cash. So if you're planning on eating in the restaurant, make sure to bring cash to tip the staff. We'll definitely will be back to try out the rest of the menu. read more

I am a gringa, but a smart one, because I know where to go to get good tacos. They were very nice to me even though no hablo espanol, my order was 100% correct and DELICIOUS! (even with me trying to ask for "verde limon" for my tacos). The limes were fresh and juicy, I asked for nothing spicy and it was flavorful but not spicy at all, but my favorite thing there was the PULLED CHICKEN! Omg YUM, it was juicy and fresh and so tender I almost went back to get more to bring home but traffic is horrifying so... next time!! This review is just for the food! Recently had some takeout from this spot. I'm not normally a grilled chicken fan, but this place reminded me that grilled chicken can be excellent! Juicy, tender, crispy skin full of flavor! The homemade tortillas were excellent. The carne asada street tacos and the chicken tacos were spot on. And all of the salsas that I tried were solid. The real "Fast" food place! Stopped by this place for dinner. Ordered the Enchiladas, Burrito and the grilled chicken. Not sure how they managed it, but the food was on our table in another 5-6 minutes. I am sure they haven't rushed it. The food was really good. Loved the we burrito - it was flavorful and they made it spicy, just like I asked them to. Enchilada was delicious -they have served the rice & beans on the side as well. This is hands down one of my favorite places to eat. It's a good place to bring a friend or partner, even a family and share a good BBQ Mexican Meal. The Pollo Entero Meal is our go to and we share it together or with people we have with us. Everyone is really friendly, and do speak English, but it's very much a place where a lot of local Mexican people go so the main language at the restaurant is Spanish so don't be overwhelmed. read more

having driven past here for 3 years on evergreen way, i forced my friend to take the hard turn into the parking lot and stepped in to eat chicken! the chicken is grilled on a grated grill and delivers a nice, smokey charred flavor. the #3 dark meat plate had crispy skin and moist meat. there are other mexican dishes on the menu. the beef enchilada with green sauce was declared delicious! by my driver. we watched many bowls of some kind a soup delivered to the tables. it was not on the menu board. next visit will definitely include the bowl of chicken soup. read more

Finally found a place that reminds me of my hometown in California. The food is amazing!! I had the Combo #1 (all white chicken with rice and beans) the chicken is grilled perfectly, beans are delicious, rice is cook at perfection not dry and has flavor. The lovely ladies behind the counter are very nice and thoughtful. Best thing about there horchata and Jamaica are made in house. Which is great because I do not like the machine dispensary. Tortillas de harina are big and delicious. She brought me salsas to try, I only tired the green salsa and it was so flavorful.. I didn't not try the others because I loved the green salsa. Overall the place in my opinion is the best place to eat in Everett! Next time I come I'll try other foods in the menu. I am very pleased with my experience. Left with a full tummy. For those from socal who want an El Pollo fix, this is the place. It's a fusion between El Pollo and an authentic Mexican taco stand. Their marinated grilled Mexican chicken is moist and flavorful. I love El pollo's wing lovers special and their wings were crispy and not oily - just like El Pollo. The meal comes with rice, beans and tortillas - all of which are authentic and taste even better than El Pollo. We also had the 5 taco plate for only 8.50 - pretty good deal for a semi-fast food restaurant. We had Tacos de lingua which is a sure sign of authenticity. I highly recommend this hole in the wall. I really wanted some good tacos de lengua (cow tongue tacos) and walked in to get some take out. The workers were really nice and welcoming and when I asked about ordering tacos to go he recommended the 5 taco combo. They cooked it up quickly and gave me enough salsa in to go containers. The flavor was really good with everything....tacos with lots of cilantro, onion, lime, lengua was not fatty, the tortillas were nice and soft, the salsa was spicy but not overwhelming where you can't taste the food. I entered the restaurant and walked up to the cashier. I told her what I wanted to order and that I wanted to dine in. I proceeded to pay and then take a seat. The food came in a timely manner and was alright. Portions were small compared to what I've had at similar places. I ate my meal and then proceeded to leave the establishment. As I was walking outside in the shopping plaza, I was chased down by a server from the restaurant yelling for me. I turned around and she claimed I didn't pay! I told her I paid when I first came in, but she didn't believe me. So we walked back to the restaurant and once there I remembered I had my receipt. I showed it to her and she said ok. I then walked out. There was no apology, nothing. I'm a man of honor and to be accused of dining without paying really bothers me. I agree with Ben C. if you walk up to this place you won't be impressed, but if you don't go in you'll be missing out on some of the best Mexican food in Washington state! If you've ever been to El Pollo Loco in California, this place is very similar. I've known about El Pollo Rico for years and went there for lunch when I worked in Everett six years ago. Many of the patrons are local Mexican laborers on the way back from a nearby construction project. The chicken is marinated in a secret sauce made of various spices and fruit juices and then grilled to the peak of perfection! Yum!!! It is one of the best kept secrets around. Just about everyone that goes here speaks Spanish natively and I love being the only Gringo inside because I'm the Gringo that's in on the secret! The asada tacos are equally wonderful and are served with either corn or flour tortillas and are garnished with cilantro, onions, and radishes. You'll be given homemade salsa, and a homemade green and red chili sauce to season your meal with. One goes here for the food and not the atmosphere! This is absolutely my favorite Mexican restaurant in the state for flavor! read more

I grew up in California where I had access to El Pollo Loco. Here in Seattle, I miss that type of cuisine?....food. El Pollo Rico is kind of like this. They are missing a couple of things that I'm accustomed to but on the other hand, they try to fill my void. I'm used to going up to the counter, ordering and getting my grilled chicken a few minutes later. Here, they kind of make the chicken made to order....meaning you might have to wait a half hour while you wait for them to grill a bunch of half chickens for your order and other orders that might be ahead or after yours. They have good hot sauce and good tortillas. I miss the coleslaw and the salsa. I like to order food and bring it home where I can make the side dishes to fulfill my experience. We also tried the tacos and the chicken soup. I thought that the chicken soup was pretty special. I wasn't expecting much, but the broth was rich with flavor. The tacos were good, but there are other places in the Seattle area where you can get good quality tacos like this. Once again, I would have liked these more if there was guacamole or salsa or chopped cabbage or cheese options to accompany. This is good food that has the potential to be even better. read more

I walked in and I was the only Gringo in there. every thing is in Spanish , but that is OK I speak food Spanish well. Here is why they didn't get 5 stars from me. I ordered the house specialty the charbroiled chicken. I Think I may have gotten the Gringo special. The taste was very good but it was dry o so very dry what a disappointment after sitting there smelling this beautiful chicken smell and bite into mine and it was so dry. Went here today 30mins before they closed and honestly didn't have high hopes that the food was going to be good as it is hard to find bomb ass Mexican food in Washington but I'm glad I was proved wrong. Tried tacos de lengua and asada which were bomb along with both the salsas. Also tried the grilled chicken that came with rice and beans which again was hella bomb. Had a Horchata on the side which was refreshing and not too sweet and not grainy at all, well blended up and just perfect. Food was nice and hot and everything seasoned just right! This restaurant is small but the food is of very good quality. The pollo en mole is the very best I have had outside of Jalisco. There is always horchata and agua de Jamaica as well as domestic and Mexican soft drinks. Ordered half chicken, carne asada and quesadilla. Chicken was good but a little dry. Carne Asada was over cooked and wasn't really worth the price for the 1 piece of dry skirt steak. I live down in Lake Forest Park, so I've only eaten here once. My experience was similar to several of the other reviewers. The inside and outside are strictly strip-mall bland in appearance. But the menu was refreshingly different for a Mexican place. The grilled chicken appears to be their specialty. I got the half grilled chicken combo plate (with rice and beans). It was quite tasty, but some of the chicken was a bit dry, and the rice and beans side dishes were standard. However, if you put either of their two salsas on them, that compensates. And the portion size really fills you up for $6.95. read more
