Visited during their first week open. This place is full of nostalgia from my home state of California. Love the photographs along the wall, bummed my friend and I didn't remember to take advantage of the photo opp. On the date we visited, they had an artist adding much needed artistry on the windows that made it look and feel even more like all those El Pollo Locos I've been to back home. I personally was really excited to know that they have added shrimp as pretty much a replacement option for all the chicken entrees. I ordered the shrimp tostada salad. Omg. I forgot how much I missed their cilantro dressing, YUM! My friend remembered everything, even remembered to grab an order of their yummy churros. A great way to end your meal! This tickled that nostalgic nerve. I have been dining at El Pollo Loco, since I was probably my daughter's age. Finally, there is one in Louisiana. Sooooo close, yet a bit further for frequent visits. The chicken is grilled over an open flame, served up with either the creamiest mashed potatoes, whole kernel corn salad or beans. You can order a side of tortillas to blanket over some chicken for your own taco or mini burrito. The salsa bar is fabulous, too! My favorite is the spicy avocado sauce. It still tastes just like how I remember it. I love that they have modernized the look of the restaurant, but still have the ope grills, where they cook all the chicken. This is definitely a healthier alternative to the fried chicken and don't worry... flavor is not compromised. Flavor is all there in the chicken and the salsas just help enhance it. Now, I am hoping one comes to Baton Rouge soon, so I can have it back in my life more frequently like I did, when living in California. The delicious, slightly charred chicken was beyond delicious, the beans were good, and the large salsa bar was filled with at least a dozen choices of salsas, cilantro, and other things you would want to put on your chicken or your burrito. Also, the price of $8.95 (I think) for the 3-piece dinner is a very good value... You cannot go wrong with EPC... I will be back soon. read more

I heard good things about this place so I decided to try it out for the first time and it was just okay. To me, there is nothing really special about it to make it stick out but I did enjoy it overall. There are so many choices on the menu and the prices are reasonable. If you want Mexican food, this is the place to come for it other than taco bell. They did have a large salsa bar filled with several items to put on your chicken or burrito. One thing I did try was the queso and that was delicious. Everything was hot and fresh when I got it and had a good flavor to it. read more

Finally something new it is a great healthier addition to Mexican food available in the area. The grilled chicken is juicy and delicious you can pick up on the citrus marinade. Hadn't been to a Pollo Loco in a couple of years so was kinda looking forward to it. Regret activated. It was honestly the worst. The tortillas, the beans, the rice. All extremely average. And for the love of Pete, how about you guys branch out and actually serve REAL homemade-like tortillas?!?! You can get them everywhere nowadays! No reason for the premade, mass manufactured ones that are only good for disc golf. Anyway...the Coke was good. But the chicken?! Ohhhh the chicken...can 100% say it was the absolute worst in all the land. And maybe the Quantum Realm too. IDK. You'll have to ask Ant Man. But on this plane of existence, it' was the worst chicken ever. And I've put a lot of things in my mouth over the last several decades. On the plus side, Christmas is right around the corner so I was able to fashion a really nice wallet for my wife made from the ultra dry chicken skin. Higher quality fast Mexican food at an affordable price! Skip the Taco Bell, Dell Taco, Taco Bueno, etc., if there is an El Pollo Loco around the corner you need to go there! While I was living in California from 0 to 31 years old, El Pollo Loco was one of my goto places along with In-N-Out! This was before social media was a big deal, prior to myspace, so it was a long time ago! Unfortunately, this El Pollo Loco is the only one in the Great State of Louisiana! This is very sad. There should definitely be more including NOLA and BR. The one in Lafayette looks nicer than any of the El Pollo Locos I remember going to in California, maybe because the company has rebranded, but none the less it looks extremely nice and clean inside. If I lived in Layeffe I would be a regular. The only beef (pun intended) I had was we received the corn tortillas instead of the flour tortillas that we ordered, so make sure you check your order! The manager was really cool and I hope El Pollo Loco expands in Louisiana, even more so than In-N-Out Burger which does not even have one restaurant in the state. No big deal. The food quality has not wavered, and I have not had any complaints on the service. I love that you can get relatively healthy food at a great price. The brocolli was So fresh that I just ended Up getting two sides of Brocolli instead of choosing something else. Their mashed potatos with gravy are really good as well!! Listen y'all. The food is amazing. I pretty much always get the nachos. LOVE the nachos. Spoiled on your nachos and can't get nachos from anywhere else. Ever. But when sitting inside, all I want to do is enjoy my nachos and borrow your wifi. I really don't need to be asked if "everything's good" 4 times in 20 minutes. Like come on! "No, I'm good, thanks!" "No, I'm good, thanks!" "No, I'm good, thanks!" "... I'm still good, thanks!" What could you possibly do for me anyways?? The salsa bar is always stocked and open. There are trash cans everywhere. Utensils and napkins are available for me to get myself. You even have an open fountain drink machine with tea, and next to it is every condiment possibly necessary! Stop sending your amazing employees out every 5 minutes to ask customers if they need anything, especially when it's not busy and there's no reason to gently push people out.
