It's pollo loco so my expectations weren't high to begin with, at all but damn if I wasn't unpleasantly surprised. If you're eating here you obviously don't care what quality food you're getting, but what's surprising is the managers don't care about your experience either. From the unclean dining area, to the non-existent greeting (eye rolls) you get from the employees at the register. This place leaves much left to be desired. The food is just okay. I had a really disappointing experience at this El Pollo Loco. I tried to use my rewards points for a free meal, and the app clearly showed the reward was applied yet the staff told me it "didn't go through." I couldn't even use it again because the app showed it was already redeemed. When I spoke to the "manger", the only response I got was, "It'll be back there tomorrow," which is ridiculous considering I was standing there today trying to get my food. If I could give zero stars I would, terrible customer service, blamed me for getting my order wrong when I repeated it twice. Went inside to tell them my order was incorrect & was met with DISGUSTING attitude from the 'manager', she also proceeded to retrieve my receipt from the TRASH. We walked out & saw that they still did not give us a receipt so we went back in, asked for a receipt & they automatically went "OH MY GOD" with an attitude & started talking bad about us in spanish assuming we didn't speak it. I still have not heard back from El Pollo Loco "Customer Service." "Olivia R" is clearly a BOT. During an 10/9/25 inspection by the Health Department MAJOR VIOLATIONS were noted and it was Rated a "B." I ordered 2 chicken bowl. I get home and the smell was different, i looked at the bowl and the chicken also looked different. I tried it and realized they had added carnitas (pork) to my bowls. Seems to me they added the wrong meat to get ride of it, since it was shredded, old and dry. I don't appreciate them selling me something I didn't order. What if i dont eat pork? Anyway, we couldn't eat it because it tasted weird. Obviously it wasnt what I ordered. I hope they're not mixing the pork and chicken because thats cross contamination. Then, they suddenly told me there was a "system error," and I had to pay the full price. When I asked for the manager, I explained that it was their mistake and that I had already been charged $10 less. It's not a high-end dining experience for sure. But ... compared to other El Pollo Loco restaurants in the area -- especially the horrific one in Cathedral City -- this is the best El Pollo Loco in the Coachella Valley. I had great service. I think I took longer deciding on my order than they took to have my food ready. It was fresh and delicious and they didn't skimp out on anything. Very generous with the chicken. Big pieces. Only downside is they charge extra for creamy cilantro dressing but it's worth it. Only fifty cents more for each. I love that stuff. I also got a chicken avocado taco. The 2 starts is based solely on the customer service and the rewards app. We all know that this is not the best Mexican food around. I came on national burrito day because they are offering buy one get one free. You have to be a rewards member and have their app. The app is the worst! It gives you all these offers but you can only use one. So the input one I can use was the buy one get one free. I scanned the Coupon and it was expired. It says it expired at 507pm. I was ordering at 5pm and paid at 512pm. The cashier said she wasn't train for this. I was about to walk out and she said she would ask the manager. The manager came over and looked like I was asking for a million bucks off. All I ask for them to honor buy one get one free coupon on national burrito day. She did honor it but talk about bad customer service from the manager. She then goes and locks the door. They're not even closed. I am now letting people in the door. I got to the Palm Desert and the La Quinta restaurants where the price is the same at both restaurants I went to the Indio restaurant and was over charged for the same order I order in the Palm Desert and La Quinta restaurants. The manager told me that their restaurant has different pricing because it was owned by a different person. I asked was it the same menu if so why do you charge more? He said different owners. Went to this El Pollo Loco Around 11:57am because I was in the area and craving their Chicken Nacho Combo. After I got home to start eating after a few bites in I looked closer and noticed a straight piece of hair in my nachos. I took a few photos of it and called to speak with the manager, who asked me to bring it back and he would replace it, as I drove back to show him, he tried play like it didn't see it on the chips and gave me $5 out of his personal wallet and took the food back with an attitude. With this whole Covid19 stuff going on, I will make sure to just fix my Own meals from here on out. I won't be going to this restaurant again. read more

Not impressed with the Chicken, is was not cooked very well and the wings were so small you need tweezers to get the meat off them. The quality has gone way downhill, and even the taste is just ok. Its under seasoned and just blah tasting. The sides are not much better. Chips were undercooked and absolutely inedible, only some were cooked correctly. It's chaotic behind the counter. My order was taken by two different people. They were switching duties. In the end, my chicken came with breast meat when I ordered legs and thighs. The chicken was not marinated enough and was somewhat dry. I got 4 green salsas and one red salsa. Cole Slaw was watery w/ not enough mayonnaise. The side salad was just lettuce, almost no dressing, and 3 small chips. I remember when Pollo Loco was delicious and you were able to serve your own salsa's. Now you can't even order "just the chicken and tortillas" anymore, but you have to order meals with sides. The sides cost nothing to make and therefore have a very high profit margin. 2nd attempt ordering drive thru at this location (Indio). Chicken was extremely dry. I ordered a meal with 3 pieces and two sides. My two sides were salads, their basic side salad. Went with salad because last attempt rice was hard and beans had no flavor. So why did I have to pay for salad dressing? 50cents for each salad. Shouldn't salads come with salad dressing? After my experience at the La Quinta El Pollo Loco, all I can say is - Yay, no food poisoning! This restaurant was clean and had someone working full time clesning the floor, tables and salsa bar. The only negative was the restrooms. I didn't go in to them but there was a steady stream of non-customers who did so I didn't feel the need to find out any information about them. The food came out remarkably fast and was nice and hot. It may be farther to go to but it will be the only one I go to to get that delicious chicken. read more
