The building is relatively new and is well maintained, clean, and has a quiet, relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere. El Pollo Loco is famous for their grilled chicken, salsas, delicious sides, and a variety of dishes entrees starting their chicken; burritos, tacos, chicken bowls, salads, soups, family platters, etc. It's one of the few places that have multiple gluten-free options (I found out since I have a family member allergic to gluten). The young lady who took my order was friendly, courteous, and patient while I asked questions. The food really is delicious. I've never gone inside so my review is just for the food. I think the food is really good. My family and I have really enjoyed it the handful of times we've eaten from here. I tried a fit bowl for the first time today and I also noticed they have keto options. I'm looking forward to getting more salads from here on days that I don't want to eat a heavy meal. I go here often, 1-2 times per week. It's easy, quick, affordable, and tasty. When you want a reasonably healthy option, it's a good default. When fresh off the grill, the chicken is hot and delicious. My favorites are the ranchero burrito, pollo bowl, and combo plate. The 2- or 3-piece (found out recently you can select which pieces you want, eg. 3 thighs) with sides for $5-7 is a value. Coupons and promos are almost always available, which make dining even cheaper. There's also an app that scans your receipts and tallies up your points (1 point per $1). At 100 points, you can redeem $10 credit. Eat there enough and using the app is worth it. The unlimited salsa bar is a nice touch. Employees are always friendly and courteous. read more

I told her I gave you 40.00 and she said no you gave me 30.00. God says if they steal from you do not ask for it back. We got home and our order was wrong. This location is better than the one in McAllen!! Drive thru operator was very friendly and helpful. Once I got to the window I was greeted again in a very friendly manner (I'm shocked because you don't see that in the RGV very often) i don't think a lot of people know this location is open and maybe that's why they are not as busy. read more

Love pollo loco but this location has consistently prepped our drive through orders incorrectly more than any other restaurant we visit. I'm not over exaggerating either. For roughly 10 visits, 8 of them had critical errors in food prep. Wrong items in burritos, missing ingredients, mixing up of items in specific preparations...have had it all happen. Today's break the camels back issue was avocado produce stickers in our food. Tried seeing if this newer location would eventually get it right because our family loves pollo loco so much, but not anymore. Shame on us really for going back so much. If you go here DO NOT USE THE DRIVE THROUGH and check your food before you leave. Nothing worse when youre hungry than getting home to a completely wrong order. read more

Very disappointed in the quality of the food prep. I had the ultimate double chicken enchilada plate which looked really good until I bit into the second of 2 enchilada and to my surprise I got a mouth full chicken knee yes you know that hard piece at the small end of a chicken leg full and uncut. My son had the 3 tacos al carbon which came with more cilantro than chicken my wife had the pollo bowl which was good except for the 1/2 a cup of raw chopped onion. We drove by at 9 pm hungry for dinner and we spotted this place. At first it looked like another KFC style restaurant. When we walked in we were surprised at how nicely designed and decorated the place was! Everything looked really new and shiny. The menu is extensive from healthy options to grilled indulgences. I got the mango salsa chicken salad and it was perfectly made. My bf got the original pollo loco bowl, which was decently sized and filling for $5. The staff even brought out our food! There is a decent selection of fresh side dishes, but they should be listed on the display above the counter, not merely in front of the register, as this slows down ordering. We have been here half a dozen times and never has our order been prepared correctly. Staff and register and those in the kitchen don't agree on the description and content of menu offerings. More training is required for staff. Menu is complicated, many duplications, hard to navigate. Food is fresh and tasty but a salad with chicken can have anywhere from 3 to 8 ounces of chicken, and the number of shrimp is never as pictured. Food served should at least resemble the picture. Also, pinto beans and black beans are not the same thing. read more
