I'm from CA visiting and originally thought I was getting actual crispy fried taquitos aka tacos dorados but I guess here they mean tacos. I wasn't complaining though because these were the best asada tacos I've ever had! The meat was perfectly seasoned and it was not overcooked at all. It was juicy! Rice was very flavorful. The chilaquiles was spicy but tasted pretty good! Loved that everything was flavorful and straight to the point when ordering. Our waitress was really nice. I wanna love this restaurant. I've been here a few times and I have to say it's OK unfortunately it's just OK. We asked for Overeasy eggs and they came with a solid yolk. While the potato egg breakfast taco was delicious the chorizo was just OK I did really like the pancakes. I have to say I didn't order them, but when offered some I ate a third of them. read more

I ordered a dozen "fresh" homemade flour tortillas for pick up. I paid over $11.00 for my request, when I got home (5 minutes later) to sit and have dinner with my family, we couldn't even pull apart the tortilla! They had been microwaved, they were horrible! Had my annual pilgrimage to the RGV and I couldn't resist the famous Botana platter. A heaping of beef fajitas on top of fresh made corn tortilla chips smothered with refried beans and gooey cheese, a side of guacamole and two corn quesadillas. Dayum! It hit the spot, but what made it special was the Valley's concoction of sweet tea, which I am still trying to figure out how it is made - very unique taste. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered a botana for 2 along with other items and paid a total of $78 and change. The botana came with dry and hard pieces of chicken and beef fajitas. There was barely enough beans and cheese on the tortilla chips. It was cold. I was so disappointed because it looked like someone ordered it a day before but didn't pick it up so that's what they gave me. Had been here for breakfast never for lunch. Felt like having a home made caldo and to be honest made the right choice. The restaurant it self was very clean the staff very nice. When asked about suggestions the waiters was nice enough to recommend a lunch plate. I noticed that they have Saturday lunch specials which is rare to see at restaurants since specials are usually Monday- Friday. That was a plus!! So when you think about it Zamora's has special mon- sat. My husband had the fajita plates. As per my Husband good flavor, good quantity but would have liked less bell peppers and onions. I had the caldo de res, good portion very good flavor if you are looking to eat something that your mom would make this is it. The only thing I would change a bit was leave the meat a little bit longer cooking to be a bit soft, but that's just me. Price : very reasonable, our tab was about $21 which is not bad for the lunch we had. We are definitely going back and trying more of their food items read more

Disappointing botana to say the least, got home it was already cold (5 min drive). Fajitas were cold and tough, tortillas cold too, AND barely any cheese on the very STALE corn chips. Over 40$ and this was the result, called management for ANY remedy and was told there was none. Turned off from this place and lost our business for good. read more

Went for late lunch today after 2pm close to 3pm, I order one of their lunch special - Tacos de Alambre I believed it was the name, it comes with charro beans as a side, second time tying the beans there was a chewed toothpick :(, I told the waitress about it and she even grab the toothpick, went to the cashier they look at for like 2 to 3 min and went to the kitchen and that was the end of the story, no sorry no it will not happened again or at least for the cook or chef to come to my table to apologize about situation. What tells me they are reusing the leftovers from other costumers :0, not good for a late lunch. 1 star but should be minus 5 stars. Curb side delivery! Ordered the botana for 3 and it was a lot. Flour tortillas were delicious. Everything was very well made and delicious. My parents enjoyed the shrimp cocktail. We had leftovers for the next day but the fajitas tasted weird. Overall I will order again from here. read more

This has got to be some of the best Mexican food I have had...and I am VERY critical of Mexican food. I had the steak rancheros and goodness! Definitely get it. Salsa is great. Chips are great. Tortillas are great. All around a stop! Be careful though, gotta know your Spanish. read more

Ordered three cheese enchiladas with no American cheese on top. Special order of regular cheese anyway the cheese came unmelted inside and out. I had to take them home to re-cook them myself. This is my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant, the price is low and portions are incredibly generous! Service: The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, they even remover you after they see you a couple times. I come to the valley to see my family and ALL I want to do is eat Mexican food. My brother told me zamoras has the best botona. As a die hard Costa Mesa fan I didn't really think it could be true. We ordered the botana tonight and it is in fact THE BEST botana I've had! The fajitas were very tough but the flavor of everything was so good I can over look that. A group of six ate here for lunch today and were disappointed with our food. I ordered a botana for 1 and the fajitas were poor quality and tough. My coworker had a plate that included the fajitas and she was also disappointed with the texture and flavor of her meat. My other coworker ordered the entomatadas and was thoroughly disappointed with the consistency of the sauce and temperature of her food (room temperature). This was my second attempt at this restaurant and I'm sorry that I gave it another chance! The first time I ate here, I ordered the carne guisada and enchilada plate and the carne guisada tasted and looked like shredded, over-cooked meat. Went to this restaurant, cause I'm big on authentic Mom and Pop places..found it by accident because we didn't want to wander too far from our hotel (hey, in our defense, we worked hard allll day and we were starvin!) So, we walked in and although its not richly decorated, the FOOD is delicious. The chips were homemade and waay crunchy with homemade tingly in your mouth salsa..Then after a truly mexican cold beer, we feasted on every known mexican dish in one..yep, you get a sample of everything on one plate...I rolled out of there with a smile on my face... If you are in the mood for good Tex Mex food this is the place to go. You won't find a trendy place with all kinds of deconstructed foodie plates. You'll find good yellow cheese enchiladas, crispy tacos and chalupas with excellent refried beans and rice. It is a family restaurant filled with, you guessed it, families. The kind of place your parents took you when you were a kid. I still need to check out their Chicken Fried Steak, which I was assured is excellent. But this place gets my thumbs up! read more
