So was in town and haven't had a botana in over a year since I live in Dallas. Yelped "Good Botanas near me" and Zamoras popped up looked it up and the food looks good so decide why not. Ordered ahead and went and paid mind you for a botana for 2 it was 40ish dollars. Kinda pricey but everything has gone up and once a year for a good botana ill do it. When the employee brought my food I was damn thats a lot of food got took it home. Well let me tell you it looked better than it was. Ill start off with tortillas were on point really good, beans for good also. But thats where it ends opened up box with the botana and meat looked good but as soon as I tried to chew it it was dry AF! Ordered a mixed botana with beef and chicken and I had to drink water just to swallow very disappointing. But on principle cause I paid 40buks I continue to eat it cause what was I gonna do throw away 40 buks. I noticed that it seemed like the Styrofoam carton was raised under the food didn't pay any mind to it until I got to the bottom and noticed that they laid the food on bare Styrofoam mind you HOT food. What in the absolute fuk for a restaurant to be in business for this long and do some dumb shit like that is mind boggling. Anyway I noticed I was scraping Styrofoam with cheese and looked under the box and saw that the cheese and beans had melted the box underneath! You have got to be kidding me what moron decided it would be a good idea to put Hot food on bare Styrofoam at least line it with some foil like every other restaurant does so your customers aren't eating pieces of Styrofoam melted into cheese. A staple place for my MIL who is a regular. Simple restaurant with a variety of options on their menu. Open concept and could get a little loud if it has all tables filled. Servers were very nice and very fluent in Spanish. Food was good. I had a chorizo and egg taco. read more

I was craving Mexican food and was recommended this place by a local, and I was blown away. Best Mexican place I have been to, even including the Houston ones. ATMOSPHERE: I came for lunch on a weekday and this place was POPPIN' (a testament to how good it is!). I had a 20 min wait. The inside is pretty typical and was clean. FOOD: So good. I got a chicken chimichanga. The chicken was what really separated this place for me: it was so flavorful and seasoned perfectly! The chimichanga was smothered in sauce and melty cheese but this only complemented the flavor of the chicken. SERVICE: Pretty good. It look some time for the food to come out and for a waiter to come by to check on our table, but given how busy it was I definitely understood. PRICE/VALUE: So much food for a really reasonable price. Having leftovers was great though. Overall, such a good choice for Mexican food. Apparently this restaurant does not care if you get food poisoning from their food. Horrible customer service. Placed an order for pick up and they forgot to give me complete order. Had to drive all the way back because of their negligence. Spoke to manager, Victor, and he didn't appear to be at all concerned. Such lack of professionalism from supposedly such a good restaurant. So the new opening in McAllen...... we had a party of 6. My family wanted to try the new location! Thought it would be amazing, everyone ordered, didn't wait that long for the food to Arrive. So that was a plus! But I was the only one with no food?? We asked where it was. The manager came to our table saying it was going to be 5 mins, they had misplaced my food at another table. Waiting 5 more minutes, and finally it came. I was the only one eating at the table while my family had theres in boxes....... Food tasted great, but the service... please be better. Was in the mood for good Mexican food. A guy from the hotel suggested this restaurant. So we went, and holy smoke, you better show up hungry! First of all the place was packed, which is always a good sign. The staff was great and friendly and the food service was excellent. The place was clean, great atmosphere and well priced. I suggest the super nachos/botanas which would really feed four. Definitely hitting this place up again in the near future. read more

Been to this place and man it makes me feel right at home, as a Hispanic American it felt awesome to be there, and yet it is so amazing to see people of all backgrounds coming together for this establishment, the setting is so nice and calm and has a beautiful place that I believe commemorates the owner and history of the place(correct me if I'm wrong!) food is really good and I love going every Sunday to get some beans eggs and potatoes, sometimes I get pancakes but I always try to try something new, great place and definitely recommend for people all over the valley!! read more

Today I decided to order take out from Zamoras Restaurant on North 23rd St. I called the restaurant in order to place my order to go. My call was answered by a lady and said please hold on give me one minute. So I waited, assuming that they were busy. I kept waiting and waiting. I decided to drive to the location in case my call was taken of hold so that I can place my order. 13 minutes later I arrived to the restaurant still with my call oh hold. To my belief, there was only 6 cars in the parking lot. I entered the restaurant and oi was greeted by the manager. I informed the manager that I had called in to order my food and I was still on hold for 14 minutes now. The manager attempted to pick up the business phone to get my call but as she was pressing the wrong line. The manager showed me and asked for me to hang up and call again. I called again and the tome was busy. Yes busy because the manager had the phone on tone and my call was not going through saying that the business had problems with the phone. After all that she asked me if I wanted to order and I told her no that the service sucked and I was going to order anything. The manager said oh you only came to tell me that and I responded yes I did. The restaurant just lost a customer due to their neglegence and not knowing how to treat a customer. read more

Had been here before for lunch never for breakfast and I was really surprised on how packed this restaurant gets. The food is good service can me a little better but it's understandable due to the amount of people that go for breakfast. I'm a coffee drinker and not sure what happens but the coffee didn't taste that good in my opinion. Food was really good and the amount is more than enough. I had the chilaquiles with chicken and scrambled eggs and red salsa very very good. My in laws and husband had the rio grande plate which consist of egg Barbacoa , a cup of menudo and potatoes. They really enjoyed that they were able to have a variety of food. The downside of this restaurant is that the parking is really small and since it's close to the hospital there are a lot of people. If you do not mind waiting for a table this is a good restaurant to have a good Mexican breakfast. read more

I prefer the bowl however they have a cup size too. Best part is the homemade tortillas which is a perfect fit for the meal. The second item I enjoy is the carne guisada plate. Extremely dishonest restaurant!! Gave me my bill, all charges correct, I added a tip. Waiter offered to take my card to the front and process the charge for me, I thanked him and allowed him to do so. Total bill including tip was $80 He takes it to the front, runs the card and come back and hands me a receipt for $83.50 I look at the receipt and see he added a $3.50 "checkout charge" Despite this being an illegal charge that was added to the bill after I signed agreeing to a total of $80, it's also a highly unethical practice. I would never recommend going to this place and I have submitted a fraud alert with the state. If you have eaten here or ever go here, please triple check your charges to make sure they are correct!! read more

What a great place. Zamora's is conveniently located on the corner right across from Doctors Hospital at Renaissance. After spending many days with my husband near there I decided to try this restaurant. PARKING is ridiculous, period. There are few spaces and you must drive in and out of heavy traffic if you don't find a place right off... which you won't. I have heard so much about this little Mexican restaurant and wanted to try it, so I braved the traffic at noon time, and after three tries I found a spot. Walking in I saw that it was not as small as I first thought but it is only a bit larger. Very cozy restaurant. I was seated within 10 minutes and given a menu and chips and a small bowl of salsa. I found the chips too hard and a bit stale for my taste, and the salsa a little spicy. I ordered my regular, iced tea, and perused the very adequate menu. I decided on the Mexican plate. The plate came with a large dollop of Mexican rice, a Chalupa, a cheese enchilada, which by the way was delicious, refried beans, and I ordered a small spoonful of avocado on the side. This is a place that I would return to often if it were closer to my home. it is a 25 minute drive from me. I would honestly like to try more things on the menu as I found this little place very satisfying. The service was excellent and the waitress stopped by several times to see how I was doing, and she kept my tea glass filled to the brim, which pleases me greatly. I SHALL RETURN! read more

I come here from time to time for breakfast, you really can't beat the price and the food is usually consistent. One thing I do enjoy is the coffee, always taste fresh and always hot. This time around I had the nopales w/egg and chorizo plate. No complaints about the food, tasted good but with so many Mexican restaurants in the area, I'd put this restaurant in the middle of the pack when it comes to breakfast. You're not gonna be blown away but you won't tell yourself you'll never eat there again either. read more

1st time here and I was very impressed. It's not a looker from the outside. But very good food from bontana to the seafood. Awesome waitstaff. They also have a unique crab sandwich not to many places offer this. I'm talking about th whole crab. The restrooms were very clean.
