Barbacoa Plate
Ricardo J.

We came here on 05.26.24 for breakfast with the family. They love it here, being long-time locals and supporters. I had the barbacoa breakfast plate, which comes with barbacoa, two eggs your way, beans, and tortillas. The barbacoa was so tender and delicious, while the beans and eggs were cooked perfectly, full of flavor. Our corn tortillas were also on point. We felt like we had gone back in time due to the prices and portion sizes. I believe my meal was $6.99, and it was one of the more expensive breakfast selections. All six of us ate well for around $50. The service was also excellent and the setting was just right. Kinda old school in there - and it was easy to see why it was full of locals.

Seating Is Hard To Find An Opening. Waitress Took Long And Couldn't Take An Order Correctly. Food Was Completely Nasty I Wouldn't Recommend Anyone Coming And Wasting Money Here. When Trying To Pay, Cashier Was Extremely Rude! Waaaay To Much chaos .

The flan is to die for!!! Creamy and delicious!!!

Having a craving for cheese enchiladas! Got them here for a great price. Whether beef, chicken or cheese, all the same price. You're served chips and salsa while you wait for your order. Wait staff was attentive and friendly!

Service was outstanding and the food was the best I've had in the Valley to date. Fajita Taco Plate came with 3 LOADED tacos that had onions and bell peppers. Also came with a side of refried beans and rice! Chips and fresh salsa were also good. I plan on visiting again and trying the Mexican Plate. But this was perfect!!

A co worker wanted to meet here for lunch and I had heard good things about this spot so I was looking forward to this place. The reason I give this place 4 stars is because the amount of business they get has surpassed the capacity of their building/tables/parking. It was completely full and the staff wasn't sufficient for the amount of people they had. In regards to the food they had some great lunch specials which were at a very economical price. I had the Mexican plate which included a free sweet tea as part of lunch special. The food had a home made taste to it and sure made up for the rest of the issues.

Bean and Tortilla Breakfast- comes with egg and a meat option(bacon) all for $4.29

Popular with the older crowd, Taco Fiesta has been a staple of valley Mexican comfort food for a long time. The service is normal for this type of place. The restaurant and kitchen are clean. Why are there always people here? Simple, because you can get a good meal at a good price. Taco Fiesta is especially popular at breakfast. I recently had breakfast of scrambled eggs with bacon and refried beans with homemade flour tortillas all for $4.29. I think I will frequent this spot more often as it delivers exactly what it promises, a good valley meal at a good price.

Terrible service, waitress looked upset or something. Had breakfast, and food was mediocre. Will not go back ever again.

Love this place. Simple Tex-Mex food at a great price. Some of the best enchiladas I've ever had! Definitely worth the stop when in McAllen.

If you're not looking for this place or haven't been here, you may not find it because it is somewhat hidden from the road. Outside you wonder if it's a restaurant. Inside - different story. It's a bit small but very comfortable both in size and atmosphere. We tried their breakfast taco plate which actually has 3 tacos and beans or potatoes. The tortillas are phenomenal - some of the best we've ever eaten! The tacos are much larger than most breakfast tacos and they come like a taco - not the traditional south Texas breakfast taco that others think is a burrito. We tried potato egg and cheese, bacon egg and cheese and sausage egg and cheese. All of them were very good and you can tell everything is made fresh. The refried beans were good - some decent flavor - not the best I've had, but way better than a lot that I've had. The salsa was good - not very 'spicy' but not bad either. Both the quality and the freshness - and definitely the tortillas - will have U.S. coming back again!

We finally ordered--only to receive chicken fajitas instead of beef. Sent them back, waited again. Strike two. When the corrected order arrived? The fajitas were completely bland. No seasoning. The sweetbread--crispy on the outside, yes--but equally flavorless. And then we realized they'd forgotten the beans entirely. Those charro beans? The most tasteless I've ever had in my life. Strike three. The ambiance was nice (though overpriced for a mall spot), but the food was a shadow of what I experienced here a year ago. Such a shame--Mexican cuisine should sing with spice and care. This was a silent, disappointing echo.

This place is on the mid range prices for food, but the staffing and environment makes up for it. Truly enjoyed our appetizers, chorizoqueso, where the waitress mixed it up for us and served each one of us at the table on our choosing of flour or corn tortillas. Personally enjoy the corn but they're both great As the entree, went with Tacos Matamoros and they did not disappoint. On portions and taste it was great.

Pros: Always Consistent, Delicious Food, Great Service, Clean Restaurant…read more Cons: None

So was in town and haven't had a botana in over a year since I live in Dallas. Yelped "Good Botanas…read morenear me" and Zamoras popped up looked it up and the food looks good so decide why not. Ordered ahead and went and paid mind you for a botana for 2 it was 40ish dollars. Kinda pricey but everything has gone up and once a year for a good botana ill do it. When the employee brought my food I was damn thats a lot of food got took it home. Well let me tell you it looked better than it was. Ill start off with tortillas were on point really good, beans for good also. But thats where it ends opened up box with the botana and meat looked good but as soon as I tried to chew it it was dry AF! Ordered a mixed botana with beef and chicken and I had to drink water just to swallow very disappointing. But on principle cause I paid 40buks I continue to eat it cause what was I gonna do throw away 40 buks. I noticed that it seemed like the Styrofoam carton was raised under the food didn't pay any mind to it until I got to the bottom and noticed that they laid the food on bare Styrofoam mind you HOT food. What in the absolute fuk for a restaurant to be in business for this long and do some dumb shit like that is mind boggling. Anyway I noticed I was scraping Styrofoam with cheese and looked under the box and saw that the cheese and beans had melted the box underneath! You have got to be kidding me what moron decided it would be a good idea to put Hot food on bare Styrofoam at least line it with some foil like every other restaurant does so your customers aren't eating pieces of Styrofoam melted into cheese. DO BETTER....
