Although many people complain about the service, I think that's not too much of a problem compared to the quality of food! I always love getting anything with chorizo there. It's super tasty, and the sizes of their quesadillas are humongous! Definitely good for a good 3 meals. I love the chips and salsas they give. The light green sauce is my favorite. Can't forget the henny horchata and margaritas they offer, plus the prices are unbeatable! The loaded nachos only had chicken, refried beans, and white cheese. Lacked any flavor. The guacamole was pretty good but also lacked flavor. This hidden gem is spectacular with oversized tortas, and birria mulita. This is the first time I've tried a birria mulita and it is pretty much a stuff meat and cheese pie. The only negative thing about this was that it wasn't flavor enough, however, the sauce definitely makes a difference. The other surprise was the chimichanga burrito that was stuffed but then again lacked flavor. Perhaps it was a off day or i was supposed to drench the sauce over it. Overall, I would come back. I used to love their food but unfortunately their service is consistently bad. We made a $50 pickup order today through their website (the lowest price I've ever ordered). They gave us the wrong item (despite being shown the order confirmation email with the correct item listed. Instead they gave us a $6 cup of rice and wouldn't give us the correct item as ordered. Incidentally if you are charging me $6 for a cup of rice it should be the best damn rice I've ever had! SPOILER ALERT: It wasn't!! So here we are trying to support local businesses during a pandemic and they are constantly getting orders wrong. Previous delivery orders were often missing items so I tried doing the pickup order and clearly that didn't work out too well either. Food quality has also been hit or miss lately too whereas it used to always at least been good quality. If you ever want to get delivery know that the food will always take a minimum of 1.5 to 2 hours to get delivered and it will ALWAYS be cold. Your order will also likely be incorrect in some fashion (most often missing items that you will never see nor get refunded). So take your chances with extremely overpriced food, sub par quality lately, horrible customer service, and of course a delivery time that you could starve to death waiting for them to actually show up. read more

Not sure what has happened in the last year. Changing review from five to two stars. We've ordered twice within the last month and both times our order was an hour late. The first time it happened, we thought it was a fluke bc they've been timely. The food was also not a flavorful (lime, cilantro, onion), but again we thought it was just a fluke. We typically order the steak tacos. The second time around, our order of three steak tacos and one torta (a sandwich) was an hour late. The steak was tougher than last time and there was cheese in the sandwich (had stated in order "no cheese please"). We were able to get a full refund via Grubhub. When I moved to Staten Island 3 years ago I wanted to find a 'go-to' spot for each type of food.. Chinese, Mexican, sushi... etc. This is definitely my go-to Mexican spot for quesadillas! Me and my boyfriend loveee ordering their pork quesadillas. It is absolutely amazing, the pork is perfectly crunchy and juicy at the same time, the portions are huge! I always end up having left overs. They use to cut it into 8 pieces but I guess they stopped and only cut it into 4's now.. no biggie! Doesn't hurt to just ask them to cut into smaller pieces when ordering. We've also ordered their chicken wings with fries, also amazing! The chicken is SUPER juicy, falls right off the bone all while being so crunchy. The side of fries is also amazing, super fresh and hot when served and once again.. HUGE portions! We were able to split it among 3 people and still had leftovers! The service is great, the ladies that have taken our order and served us each time are great.. super polite and provide great service. The restaurant itself is also super cute, with all the paintings, piñatas, decorations. It reminds me of Mexico (when I was on vacay). By far my favorite Mexican spot in Staten Island thus far. Not to mention they're open 24 hrs and only a 5-7 minute drive from where I live! I order frequently via delivery and they have never disappointed. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I decided to try this place because I was having a big mexican food craving amd it isn't so far from my workplace. Firstly, The menu I ordered from ( doordash ) said 1 liter of soda, what they sent was a can of soda for $3.50.... seriously. I also ordered the chicken burrito. What a joke. They should just name it a rice filled burrito with a few small pieces of chicken, because that's what you get. And it was cold. One word to describe my experience: Disappointment. Service: Expect to wait an hour or more to get the food. There was 4 groups of people (total of 8 customers). Waitress was nice. She didn't seem too enthusiastic about working but she probably had a very long day. She was kind enough to leave an entire jug of water on the table for us. They automatically add-on a service charge on your bill. Very unreasonable when there are only two people there. Food: Expect dry/overcooked (almost burnt) meat. I ordered the 3 Amigos (Steak/Shrimp/Spicy Pork). For $15 the portion size was tiny. On the plate it looks like it's alot food but it's an illusion, just spaced out so it covers the plate. I'm not complaining so much about the portion size of the protein. But they definitely skimped on items most restaurants give generously: Rice and Beans. There was maybe two table spoons of beans on the plate , it was conveniently covered w three fried tortillas pieces (see photo) and maybe 5 table spoons of rice. Salad literally had two tiny pieces of Avocados. The rest is just grilled green onions ( inedible), grilled jalapeno and grilled cactus. And did I mention they burnt the crap out of the meat? Prices are unreasonably expensive. For the money spent here you can go to other spots on the island or in Brooklyn to get twice as much food. $40 with no drinks/appetizers/desserts. Just two main entrees. The only positive thing about this place is that it's open 24 hrs a day. I will not be coming back here again. Plenty of other good Mexican spots on the Island. Pros (the only pros): open late, food is usually edible Cons: everyone who works here is a lazy a**hole. Its a low-grade Mexican restaurant, I'm not looking for five star service or food, but don't bother getting delivery if you want to eat within the next 2 hours and don't bother sitting down inside for the same reasons. I've sat at a table and the waitress ignore me for over 20 minutes in a mostly empty restaurant then act pissed off when asked to do her job. Don't worry, its not one waitress in particular you have to avoid, all of them are like that. If you're extra lucky one of the guys that live at the bar will violently harass you while you wait for your pickup that should have been ready 40 minutes ago. Last time I got food the flan wasn't even edible, someone clearly messed up cooking it and they served it anyway. They might as well taken a dump in a styrofoam container and charged $3.50 for it. I decided to order through grub hub tonight I missed one phone call the driver insisted he waited for 20 mins but called at 9:00 and when I called back it was only a few minutes (9:10 to be exact) then he told me he canceled the order I hung up and informed him I will be contacting the restaurant. Speaking with the woman at the front she said her driver said he waited 20 mins which in fact was a lie because I was on the phone with her at 9:15, they claim it's so busy for delivery my question is how far did he really go that he couldn't pop a u turn to come right back ?! Recently attended my niece's Christening and we went here after a family meal. I'd tasted some of their food from leftovers that my husband brought home, so I was excited to actually experience it myself. First off, I love the set up of the restaurant. The unique artwork on the walls is such a nice touch--we were all admiring it. The smell of the freshly baked sweet bread was so comforting--especially since it was such a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon. They had us set up at a long table and brought out some delicious guacamole (just needed some salt) and homemade DELICIOUS chips! I could have eaten another pound of it. It was a prix fixe menu of different kinds of tacos (pork, chicken, steak) served with a side of beans and rice. OMG. Those beans were unbelievably tasty. I really liked the addition of pineapple to the pork tacos. After the meal, the kids were able to run around and play, and the adults were able to stand around and talk--it's really spacious and open in there. Service was accommodating and friendly. Best part the girl who answer the phones has the audacity to ask me 10 times am I sure I'm missing part of my order because she packed it herself. This is a pretty decent restaurant, which I would recommend to friends who enjoy Mexican food. That said, there are some major caveats. First off, the good points. The chorizo gordita I ordered was spicily delicious. I didn't have a big meal, so I can't vouch for the rest of their menu, but I have no complaints about what I did eat. That said, the waitress spent about 2 minutes trying to persuade me to order the standard dish after I had explained to her why I simply wanted the sausage-sans beans, rice, etc... Now, if I had made an extraordinary demand of the staff, I could understand the confusion, but I simply asked for them to do less work and had to reemphasize what I wanted, despite the old adage, "the customer is always right." I was also surprised by how long it took me to be served, despite the lack of patrons-less than half a dozen during mid-day when I arrived. That said, It was a good meal, and other than that interruption, the server was extremely competent and amiable. So I would definitely recommend El Patron in the future. read more

I would definitely recommend el Patron for their authentic Mexican food, prices are decent and food is great and it's open 24 hours, but sometimes the kitchen can be slow if the restaurant is only half full. Our third time eating food from this place ... I thought third time would be a charm .. like leading a positive direction - better service & getting orders right ... Sadly , this is going to be our last time eating here .. It started out great . The waitress brought us the fanciest iced lemon water in big mason jars . When we got the order , they messed up my order . I ordered shrimp burrito & I didn't know they put the wrong meat (chicken ) until I got to 1/4 of the burrito. When we tried to get the waitress' attention, she was " busy" pouring shots for the male customers. The kitchen staff wasn't even apologetic for putting the wrong meat in my burrito. Well the food is good. The problem is the staff. Not all of the staff. Some of the girls are great and then you have a couple that have no business waiting tables. Their margaritas are nothing to talk about. Forget getting good service if there is 3 tables or more. The staff doesn't care one bit. They are very unprofessional.
