Very good hole-in-the-wall with Honduran and Mexican food. I wish I had tried more Honduran stuff,…read moreor I wish I had gone with more people to try some of the dishes clearly meant for more people. I was just there for a simple lunch. Had some very tasty shrimp enchiladas; chips and salsa (especially salsa) were a notch above the usual. Also they have a good selection of bottled beers from Mexico. I do wish their menu had a bit more info on many items. For example they had a whole page of pictures of breakfast dishes, but no description (in English or Spanish) what they were...and the pics weren't clear enough to make out what all was there).

Found this place after missing two places traveling through Knoxville. So happy we did…read more It's a small rustic place, very casual. It actually has a small grocery store in the back. The service is amazing and the staff is very friendly. Gives you a family owned feeling. We started with the Papusa's. So fresh and tasty. The masa was delicious and they were very cheesy. I could've ate this for the entire meal. I had the fried chicken on top of plantains covered in cabbage and tomatoes with salsa and drenched in a fantastic tangy crema. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Jacob had the same as I, but with beef. The ground beef was so tasty. I could eat here every week. I have never had Honduran food before, so I don't know if I can say the following statement. But, I felt like grandma was in the back making a real authentic family meal.

This place is a mix between a sparse convenience store and a hole in the wall restaurant. But, if…read moreone looks past the informality, one would see a place where workers and families stop on for some tasty, home style South American food. I picked up a burritas hondureñas, which was like a corn tortillas sandwich filled with meat, eggs, beans, cheese, and avocado. It was good but the hot sauce on the table kicked it up a notch. The papusas were everything one could want and more. Cheesy, thick, and topped with a tangy curtido. I left feeling pleasantly plump and happy to see a place like this on my quick trip through Knoxville.

I waited a little over an hour for my order 2 empanadas 2 arepas and 1 cachapa and the main issue was communication. When I arrived, there was only one person ahead of me, so I expected a quicker service. 30 min Later I was told there were many phone orders before mine. A heads-up about longer wait times would really help customers plan better and decide to wait or not. The food has good flavor, but better organization and communication would improve the overall experience.

It was cheesier than I expected and just too much. The cheese overshadowed the taste of the meat which was the main reason I ordered the Cachapa that had meat. One good thing though is that it wasn't heavy and did not give me indigestion unlike other heavier, cheesy foods. I should have just ordered an empanada instead. Maybe I'll give them another try if I'm the area to see how the empanadas are. Perhaps that's what people have enjoyed from this business.

I said she wants it with green sauce because that's how it's supposed to be made not red tomato sauce. The beans tasted very sour like moldy cheese and the rice was very bland and flavorless. I ordered the guacamole which was just chopped up avocado with salsa and an extreme amount of lime juice. So I definitely would not recommend the guacamole because it's not legit guacamole. My daughter said her food was very bland. Soooo why not get legit Mexican to cook some flavor into the food?

Salsa wasn't too spicy, which I liked. The decor is vibrant and colorful. Our server was attentive. You pay on your way out, which is different from some other restaurants. My only complaint is the margaritas didn't taste fresh. They were definitely made with a mix and the alcohol wasn't really present. It tasted more like sugar. We only drank 1/4th of the drink and left it.

One of my biggest pet peeves is Mexican restaurants that are exactly like all the rest - I appreciate when a Mexican restaurant does something to make it stand out from the rest. This is a good restaurant with good food, good service, and the same stuff as most every other Mexican restaurant in the city. Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad place - it is a place like so many others with the same menu. Even the interior and ambiance is the similar to restaurants in the area
