A family owned taqueria in Bethlehem that proudly makes some very authentic Mexican tacos. I tried the pollo, carnitas, and the carne enchiladas. All were served with lime wedges and a radish garnish, and each was delicious. And, if you ask, they'll give you a choice of hot or mild sauce on the side. Be aware: hot is HOT... flavorful with a lot of heat. I also picked up a pint of their fresh made Guacamole. If you don't try anything else, get the guac!!! With solid chunks of Avocado, accented with onion, cilantro, and lime juice, it was so incredibly delicious!!! I have heard a lot of good things about this place. I finally had an opportunity to sample some offerings. The marinated pork Huarache was excellent. My first time with pickled cactus, and it was a real compliment to the dish. All the ingredients were fresh, and the marinated pork had a very classic flavor and was not over powering with salt or heat. According to Steph Rush, the tacos with steak were good, but nothing over the top. The salted beef burrito was pretty decent. I have had better in the area, but it was still really good and well above average. The homemade sauces were a nice touch. The "hot" was a little to Smokey for my personal taste, but otherwise had good flavor and great heat. The verde sauce was my favorite. Great flavor and heat, along with an even creaminess from either Mexican Creme or Avocado or both - I couldn't tell. The service was awesome for take out. All smiles and very friendly. All things considered, $27 for three (3) meals was an above average value, in my opinion. The reputation here is well deserved. #rushieeats read more

A block from my house, it took me 4 years to check out, but I sure am glad I did!!! Authentic cuisine, with a tres leche cake that is absolutely to die for. My friend and I came here last night since we read all the good reviews from here. From what we experienced it really did fulfill what everyone was saying. The staff was really friendly and they would cater to our needs. The food was plentiful and the Tortas they had were delicious. We would definitely come back again. My only suggestion would be to put a visual description within the menu. We were trying to figure out which food item was really spicy and what wasn't spicy. If there was a little visual next to the food item to indicate the level of spice like for example a pepper that would have been nice to know the level of spices. Torn on how to rate this place, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. No question the food is as authentic of a family owned mexican restaurant as you will find. I went with the chicken gorditas (nothing like Taco Bell) and they were solid. The tortilla was homemade, and it was either made with masa or cornmeal and was super thick. Had to eat this with a fork and knife unfortunately because the tortillas were so fresh they would have fallen apart (almost the same consistency as a potato pancake). Girlfriend went with the enchiladas verde which she enjoyed. The tomatillo was a bit bland but that's how I feel all authentic Mexican tastes. The one turn off l however, was that upon cutting/dissecting was slightly turned off by the appearance of the purple color of the chicken. The complementary pico is a nice gesture. The hot sauce is also pretty good (their hottest is very hot). If you like authentic Mexican, it's worth stopping in to. read more

Most mexican restaurants are authentic, so if I said this place is authentic I wouldn't really be saying much... but I guess I'll use the world anyways because it's authentic in more ways than other mexican restaurants. First of all, it caters mainly to the hispanic community (you can tell by the name; the fact that the owners hardly speak english; and that the customers are predominately hispanic). The price isn't inflated, as is the case in most "exotic" restaurants. The food is awesome. Usually, for a mexican place to be popular amongst americans it simply has to be cool and exotic, without regard to quality. Not so for this place. Homemade hot sauces! Conclusion: Best mexican in the area. Better, I'd say, than Hello Burrito, Mexico Lindo, La Lupita, and Tulum (not to mention much cheaper). Good tacos w good authentic meats. I love their tripa tacos. The meat is well fried and seasoned really well. It's hard to find tripa tacos anywhere in the Lehigh valley area. Absolutely phenomenal. I spent the last 4 years in Los Angeles where I became absolutely addicted to the authentic Mexican food served everywhere. So when I moved to PA, I knew it'd be hard to find it again. I tried a restaurant down the street which was as Mexican as Taco Bell. I stumbled on this place because my boyfriend and I were both craving Mexican. We decided to try it out. The place is tiny, only has 6-7 tables but thankfully it wasn't too busy when we came in. Staff was super friendly and attentive. You can see right into the kitchen which looked well taken care of. Food was outstanding. Tacos were bigger than I expected (I was expecting the LA street taco size, these were much bigger) so I ended up taking some home. Boyfriend had no complaints about his quesadilla which was also bigger than expected and he couldn't finish it. The steak and chicken tacos were a feast for my eyes, light on my wallet, but just OK in my mouth. I've gone back here multiple times and each time I go, I am still surprised to find Mexican food this good on the East Coast (California native here) and to find it for such a good price. I always get at least two meals worth out of whatever I order from here and they have some more speciality dishes not always typically found in east coast Mexican restaurants. And definitely some of the best horchatas I've tasted in the Lehigh Valley, too! (Can I just take the jug home with me? Seriously though..) An amazing little Mexican Restaurant back in one of the North Bethlehem Neighborhoods. It isn't much to look out on the outside or the inside, but the food is fresh and authentic. My wife had the three tacos, I had the Enchiladas Verde. We got the mild sauce and it was outstanding. We had chips and salsa of course, which was heavy on the cilantro, the way I love it. We also got the small guacamole and chips, which was perfect for the two of us. They didn't overload us on the chips, and had good size portions on the main entrees. As an ex-patriot from California, I searched numerous places for simple carnitas street tacos in Bethleham. Small corn tortillas, chopped carnitas, cilantro, onions and salsa verde. Only 5 ingredients and yet they were impossible to find until I hit El Paisano. Once the dining room reopened I also tried the quesadilla, chili relleno and burritos. All were worth returning for again and again. Drop in to this mom and pop place for a satisfying mexican food experience at a reasonable price. I'm bummed. I really wanted to love this place. It's not bad, hence the three star review, but the food was not what I was hoping for. The restaurant is small and humble, perfect for a great taco joint, and the staff is friendly enough. I had tacos (steak and pork). They're served the way I like classic street tacos: on two corn tortillas with onion, cilantro and lime wedges. The tortillas were soft and fresh. The meat, however, was dry, somewhat tough, and lacking in flavor. Not gross or anything, but a huge disappointment. The pico de gallo served with the chips at the table was very good, but the chips were stale and didn't taste like they were made at the restaurant. Sadly, I won't be back. read more
