Went to rent an rv. The office was empty so I called and a woman came out very unwelcoming. I asked to see the size so we can choose but she wouldn't open the doors to show the interior. I asked her for pricing and she said she would have to check the computer. Not welcoming and I couldn't make a choice of which to take because she wouldn't help us. Based off her attitude alone I would never do business here and the other reviews confirm this. Seems other people felt the same way because the place is completely empty, no customers to be seen, just a big office with all empty rooms and one very rude woman. read more

We just bought a used Class C RV from El Monte. It was an ex-rental unit. When they are done using their RVs as rentals, they sell them. We had been shopping this specific floor model and had found it at a couple of other dealers. However, we loved that El Monte puts theirs through a refurbishment process. The ones we saw at other dealers had obvious things wrong with them and the dealers didn't seem to care. We dealt with Ammar at El Monte. When we put a deposit down on our RV, it was going through the refurbishment process. When we first saw it, it looked so much better than others. We still had it inspected and only minor issues were found, but Ammar made sure all of them were taken care of! That wouldn't have happened at any other dealer from what we had previously experienced! Ammar has been so helpful and has continued to answer any questions we've had. Then she started to teach a trainee on how to log data in the computer, with us and another couple waiting. they circled the couches so you could not sit, leaving two chairs and two empty sanitizer dispensers. AC was nowhere to be felt, but she had fans in her offices. After an hour we left. My husband told her it her service was a joke and she said "unbelievable". We made the reservation 2 months in advance, she made sure we got the best deal and discounts available. Upon arrival to pick it up, Thomas helped us with the check out, again outstanding service. Patient with us (our 1st RV trip), explaining everything and made us feel very confident. The Rv was very clean, well taken care of, absolutely no issues at all. I'm giving them a three because with the unfortunate events that transpired they were willing to rectify the issue the best way possible which was to refund some for our troubles. it was unforeseen circumstances with the grey tank. unable to use a clean shower for the entire 4 days of camping and resorted to the camp ground facilities. YUCK!! But they definitely did their best to make me happy. Roadside assistance was a train wreck. Not much help whatsoever and 3 phone calls on hold over 30 minutes each time. But the general manager was more than pleasant. The young lady who checked us in was as sweet as sweet could be. The lady checking us out not the best in customer relations, who was the assistant manager. One out of 3 is a pretty good ratio comparatively. Over all if everything had worked properly we would have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Even though we had issues the two customer service experience I spoke about that were positive I would definitely give them another chance to earn 5 stars. The potential is there. read more

Excellent experience! I realize they mostly deal in rentals, but they also sell their used RVs. I bought a 2014 Thor Four Winds from El Monte RV in Orlando in March 2018. The entire experience from start to finish - and after - was wonderful! Thank you Chuck and Ammar! The nuts and bolts: -No pressure on the sale. -Everyone was very courteous and knowledgeable. -RV was in excellent condition, well-maintained and clean. -After sale, they held the RV for several weeks until I could get up there to drive it home, and even chauffeured me to and from the car rental place. -They located and mailed a missing window screen. -Basically, they delivered what they promised and more, and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience! The longer version: I drove 4 hours to purchase the RV because of the great price posted online and excellent reviews on Yelp and Google. Was a little nervous that I'd drive 4 hours and it would be sold, so I called before I left home to let them know I was on my way. They weren't open yet so I left a message and asked that they call me. However, I learned later I had accidentally called the El Monte in Texas! It seems the Texas location had the exact same model listed for the same price, so I had inadvertently looked up the wrong phone number (found this out later). I was about 2 hours into the drive when I called again - this time luckily got the Orlando location when I searched - and told them I was 2 hours away. Well, long story short, there was someone else interested but they held it for me because I was driving from 4 hours away! I know, I know, you can say that's a sale's pitch, but I believe them and I'm very grateful they didn't sell it before I got there! So I bought the RV, contingent upon inspection. I'm brand new to RVing and don't really know what to look for, so I paid someone who does to go over it with a fine tooth comb. The good news? He didn't find a thing! The bad news? I paid someone $500 (with travel) and he didn't find a thing! Lol! Okay, he did find a few VERY minor things, but overall my RV was in excellent condition which shows how well they maintain and service their RVs at El Monte, and that they weren't trying to sell an RV with problems. Since I'm 4 hours away, it was several weeks until I could get up there to pick up my RV. They kindly held it there for me, made sure it was clean and ready for me when I arrived to pick it up, and even drove me to and from the car rental location in Orlando.  (That took over an hour, and Chuck waited patiently for me. The car rental should be VERY happy I'm not writing a review on them!  cough... Enterprise... cough) Chuck also went over the RV thoroughly with me, inside and out, which was not an easy task since I know basically nothing about RVs except what I've learned from YouTube videos. Chuck also made sure I had a full LP gas tank, water hose, bedding, leveling blocks, and lots of other stuff I would need to start my adventures into the world of RVing! After I had my RV home for a few weeks, I noticed one of the window screens was missing. I noticed this missing screen when I Ammar, General Manager, was first showing me the RV, and he said he would replace it. I was kicking myself for not noticing before I left the lot as I wasn't sure how they'd be able to fix that from a distance, and I didn't want to drive 4 hours for a screen. No problem! I emailed Chuck, who told Ammar, who located a screen and shipped it to me within a few days. An oversight that they quickly remedied. Now that's service! There are lots of other little details that made my buying experience wonderful. Although I've never rented from El Monte, based on my buying experience, I would not hesitate to recommend them! Accused of causing damage to awning that you could plainly see had been previously damaged. Women that checked me in took all kinds of pictures and then closed the awning went to her office and told me I had to pay $465.00 in damages. I said NO, she said my credit card on file had already been charged. She gave me a receipt that was not readable, refused to give me a darker copy. Told me the VIP insurance that I bought with them did not cover the awning and that she told me that when I rented it, which she did not. I was also told that I would be given a lesson on how to use the RV before leaving the lot and she refused to do that. I asked if she left the awning open so I could take my own pictures and she said no so I grabbed the keys from the corner of her desk and said, I am just going to open it and take pictures and she said that I already returned it and I cannot do that without additional liability so I asked her to open it. At first, she said she would. Then she continued to tell me that I signed papers right in front of her desk, as she pointed to the front of her desk where there were not only no chairs but barely no space and the office had signs about staying 6 feet away. I never went in her office. When I said that, she accused me of being rude and said she would not open the awning for me if I was going to be rude to her. Of course, I said she was the one being rude, then she shut the door to her office, basically throwing me out although I was never in her office and yes I called her a bitch and she told me she was going to call the police and I called her a bitch again and left. The awning was patched with tape on both sides and I did not cause any damage. I feel like this was some sort of set up the way this happened. When she went into the RV to look for other damage which not only was there none but I had cleaned the RV before bringing it back. When she opened the freezer, I told her that the freezer had not been useable during my rental because it smelled so bad in it, even the ice that I had in there had to be thrown out because of the bad odor, she told me she didn't smell anything. I had rented it for 300 miles and brought it back having only used 225 miles. read more

Generator didn't work on the vehicle from the first day. They could not get me roadside service or a replacement. They originally tried to discount the vehicle rental $150. I eventually talked the manager into $300. I was able to stay in the vehicle one night because I rented a separate generator. read more

Most people come to El Monte to rent RVs for their Florida trips, but I went there to buy an RV for my mother, who lives out of state. I was looking specifically for a short Class C in really good shape. Because it's for my elderly mother and I'm the one who would have to maintain it, I wanted to get something that was in good shape and simple. El Monte sells their RVs after they get some mileage on them, but many people rent them for cross country journeys, so they had some newer units that had high mileage, so were within our budget. The good thing about buying a former rental unit is twofold: First, because they have professional maintenance on a regular basis, they have had regular fluid changes and basic maintenance, plus mine came with a complete vehicle history report from mile zero. Secondly, because rental places charge an arm and a leg for every scratch, people are much more careful with them than if the RV was their own. Sad but true, though it works for me in this case. The first time I went there it seemed deserted, but I found a sales girl who showed me around, but couldn't discuss anything. I came back the next day during business hours and Ammar, the General Manager, took really good care of me. He was very open and honest about what the history of the RV was, gave me plenty of time to inspect the one I wanted, was helpful during a test drive, etc. El Monte sells their RVs with an in-house warranty that covers it bumper to bumper for 30 days, so as we inspected it I found a couple of issues for his staff to fix up. Because it had been for sale for a while the house batteries were dead, so they added two new house batteries, resealed some windows, (then roll sealed the whole roof, without even being asked. That was nice) and put in a new freshwater tank. When I came to pick it up it even had a tank of propane, ready to go. Ammar helped my Mom handle the paperwork for temporary plates, payment transfers and was very, very, very patient with an elderly lady who doesn't like to do paperwork at the best of times... So, in summary, I couldn't tell you about renting an RV from El Monte Orlando, but I can tell you that it was a pleasant, easy experience to buy one. read more

It is worth the travel to rent from the Orlando location. The service and RV condition are top notch. If you have an issue it is promptly corrected and followed up on. Can't wait to return next year. We've rented RVs from this location for a number of years to support our news organization's special event coverage. Each time becomes less satisfactory than the one before. This time was the worst, with little indication of anything better on the horizon. Staff rushed us through pick-up, weren't interested in answering technical questions, didn't have answers to some specific issues and couldn't be bothered to find them, sent the vehicle out less than full (of gas), did not send us out with all the necessary equipment for use in the field (especially a segment necessary to dump waste residue), and when we called them (thereafter) to get some questions answered, we were disconnected all four times, without satisfactory result. Upon return, we got contradictory info from two separate staffers, delayed and shuffled around between personnel who did not want to address our issues, and despite the fact that we told them we had places to be, attempted to hold us up to speak with absent personnel who were away from the office and wouldn't be back, "for a while." It was a frustrating mess... and we recommend doing business with other companies, instead... as will we, in the future. Supplemental Note: In finding that a promised refund had failed to be deposited, we contacted El Monte RV's Orlando office (where our rental occurred) and were eventually forwarded to the 'manager' (supposedly named 'Omar'), who told us, in a documented/corroborated call that they had attempted to refund our significant deposit but were refused by the bank. No one called us to tell us this despite the fact that some three days had transpired since he reported the alleged failure of the attempt to refund the $$$. He then told us, in no uncertain terms, that he was going to refund it again, right away as we were on the phone, and reported that he was successful in doing so as of that time (approximately 1700 or so, ET). He gave us a confirmation number. Hmmm.... Still... none of this was adding up... we contacted the Small Business department of our bank, a large operation, and reported what El Monte RV had told us just minutes before. The bank asserted, categorically, that no attempt to refund the monies (about $1000) had occurred days before and that the so-called successful transaction did not appear anywhere in the bank's record system. Another staffer confirmed with another authority that no transaction to refund the funds had been logged in that day or at any other time. Period. The banking staffer was concerned over the details we related and immediately escalated the matter. We were subsequently informed that they were required to discontinue the card used because of the false information reported to us by El Monte RV, and their concerns about other potential hazards in relation to the misinformation already noted. We are now without our primary biz card, on the road, and having to chase down a replacement due to the reported cancellation of the card. This has cost us some three, almost four, hours so far, we're still on hold with the bank to resolve the necessary issues, and El Monte RV's lack of accuracy/truthfulness/integrity has cost us dearly. Calls to the national office have been fruitless... no supervisor is available and we keep being put through to voice mail even though the attendant says they are putting us through to a live person. We have gone through this process several times to no avail. It's been an unmitigated mess and we're tired of the misdirection, multiple false statements, and waste of our time and resources. Sent photos, work with our financing, and made sure our camper was everything we expected and more. He continued to make sure everything was right before we left with our camper. Stay away! We drovea hundred miles to fo see a specific RV they claimed they had on the lot. After driving 2 hrs and a 100 miles we discovered it was a bait and switch. I want to give a special Thanks to Alghafari and Megan. This was our second time renting from them and I can tell you that they where fast and courteous. It was our annual trip to Fort Wilderness and the fact that they are only 30 min. away is great. I rented a C28 and our RV was clean and everything worked great ! We had nothing but pleasurable experiences during this time, the company handled everything professionally. Yet Yelp only shows the one negative review and counts 3 positive ones as not necessary/relevant. Our experience with El Monte was again successful. The office staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Both picking up and dropping off our rental RV was quick and easy. We had a great vacation with the rental RV and enjoyed it very much. The biggest "problem" we had all week was not always knowing how to get our RV stairs to open, but we figured it out. Was told all equipment would be checked prior to rental delivery but first night we had no hot water as the valves on hot water tank behind a panel were closed. Had to get help from a neighbor with a screwdriver and knowledge to turn valves on. The road side assistance is in California and has limited hours and time zone difference to assist. Delivery driver knew very little about the operation and set up to get us going. Had to make numerous calls for help. Made our vacation very stressful. read more
