This was on of our spots after a Yelp event. I had a pretty good experience. The staff was very kind and accommodating. We had a larger group and it was nearing their closing time. The whole time they made us feel welcomed and didn't mind helping is at all. I ordered the fajita (shrimp) bowl and it was good! They gave enough of all of the ingredients to balance things out and the shell (bowl that it came in) itself was good as well. The prices are reasonable. It's an ok restaurant, I get the cheese dip most often. I've tried burritos,combo meals, tacos and I just don't like the taste. The beef tacos, I have no clue where the beef is from but it doesn't taste very good. I'm usually ordering to go which means I stand at the counter for a few until someone comes to ring up my order. There are much better options for Mexican food, but this and all the El Mezcal restaurants I've been to are just ok. I'll return for cheese dip though read more

This is my automatic go-to Mexican restaurant if I'm having a craving for it. We always get our food within 15 minutes. They provide a delicious basket of fresh tortilla chips and salsa while you're seated. The booths are also large and spacious. A few on the staff can be slightly difficult to understand since English isn't their first language, but there are other staff members to help if needed. I had a very good experience here with one of my best friends. We came during lunch time and it wasn't packed, which was great! We were seated and greeted by our waitress in a timely manner. I really wanted some queso covered fries, but that wasn't on the menu :( I was SO happy that my waitress still made it happen for me and put all of the toppings that I requested on it. I could not detect Tequila in the pre-mixed Happy Hour Margarita ($3.50). their ultra-thin unsalted Chips. As thin as Lay's Original Potato Chips. Salsa is spicy, Margarita glass is salted ~ Who needs the extra sodium? I almost ordered a Taco Salad, but decided on a #20 Combo ($8.50) because of the veggie Chalupa. It also included a Beef Burrito & Enchilada. The pale pink Tomatoes were pitiful. Lettuce was pale too. I would have loaded those back onto the Delivery Truck. It was a slow weeknight. Woohoo! Doesn't get much better. And those things are loaded with meat and cheese, and some lettuce. Was definitely worth my 2$ for dinner! As for the rest, they have a more diverse menu than most places, with specials including items like tamales that I haven't seen on most menus. Overall, their taste is great!! I really enjoy my food each time. It doesn't seem too greasy like some places. Their salsa is a little on the spicy side, I do wish it was a bit milder. Me and my wife work looking for a New Mexican restaurant and deciding to try this place. The service is good and the place was very clean. However I personally was disappointed in the food. I ordered a taco Salad with shrimp and the shrimp tasted fishy, not very appetizing at all. I am giving this place three stars only because my wife loved her dish. None of the employees wear masks. Our waiter did and maybe one other server, but that was it. Nothing was enforced, customers walking around maskless everywhere. When checking out, I asked the attendant to put a mask on. I was asked why I "didn't believe in my immune system" and was yelled at in front of everyone to "not come back." We pulled up and waited and watched as idiot after idiot walked right up and crowded around the front door. Every time the poor guy that was working came out these a-holes complained and harassed him and got in his face because they wanted to order food. This guy was doing his very best to make everyone happy and he was working as fast as he could. We waited patiently and eventually received our food. Nice atmosphere clean and relaxed. Chili Colorado is my favorite Mexican dish, I eat it every where. A word to the wise do not order it here. It is as though they have some kind of pre prepared meat that they use for a bunch of different dishes and just threw some sauce on top of it and called it chili Colorado. The meat was tough chewy and even had some gristle in it chile Colorado should be chunks of meat very tender this meat was as though it was prepared for fajitas thinly sliced. Had hair all throughout my meal. Hair in my cheese dip, hair in my quesadilla! I was disgusted and to top it all off I got a $56 dollar bill for two small margaritas, cheese dip, and two entrees. A bit overpriced for poor quality food and obvious bad hygiene. The reason I don't rate this place a one star is because of our waitress. She was so bubbly and nice. I am not sure if the Yelp map is out of date or what but this is a review of the El Mezcal located next to Kroger in Cordova. I usually place my orders to go. When I arrive my food is always ready. Food is always hot and the employees are very nice. They are fast also. Don't ask for a margahrita to go, they won't do it. I have tried. Oh, and if you have a large order they will put it all in a big ole beer box so you dont look like a fool fumbeling around with multipul bags or trying to carry to much food. read more
