The fish was perfectly cooked--flaky with a smoky char--and paired really well with the fresh, tangy slaw and light toppings. A squeeze of lime brought everything together. Shoutout to our server Mike, who was fantastic--great energy, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better. The only thing that we were kind of upset about was that the pork was very dry and burnt. It was very hard to cut and certainly didn't go down easy. Salad was all fresh ingredients. The rice and beans were all fresh. The shrimps were fresh. However, the special dish that I had gotten was not fulfilling and I'm not sure we will be coming back. Before we entered the restaurant we were "distracted" by the vibrant ice cream store in the same strip. We walked in and were overwhelmed with all the ice cream options. Speaking to the owner, he said his family owns the EL Primo Plaza. We were on a mission for food, but will definitely visit the ice cream store in the future (our plan was after dinner, but dinner was so delicious and so filling, there was no room for dessert this time...better planning next time!). The restaurant is in a Mexican convenience store, but this is not your typical Mexican convenience store. They had so many options for everything. And they have this great bakery in the back before the restaurant. Everything looked SO good! In the back is a full sit down restaurant. We were seated and it is nicely decorated and has a view into the kitchen to watch them make the food. Our server promptly greeted us with some chips and what I think was a mole sauce. They were very tasty. We decided on a watermelon drink and shared mixed fajitas. The watermelon drink was fresh watermelon and it was very refreshing. The mixed fajitas came out piping hot, full of steak chicken and good sized shrimp. Sometimes at other places you get the baby cocktail shrimp, but these were a good size and nicely grilled and seasoned. You get a nice amount of sides to make your fajitas. There was so much food that we asked for extra shells at no additional cost! We thought we put a dent in the food, but we had so much still to take home. Everything was so fresh and seasoned well. The meat was nice and tender. There was a good amount of peppers and onions but it wasn't overpowered as sometimes also we have gotten fajitas elsewhere when there is mostly veggies and very little meat. We were absolutely stuffed by the time we left. Very good. We have added it to the list of places to return.

Walked in and the vibe was already a win, warm and inviting, the kind of place where you just relax right into the vibe, or head to the large bar and watch some World Cup action. Went for lunch. Service was on point too, attentive but never annoying about it. Friendly and had real suggestions when asked about faves. They brought out complimentary ceviche and honestly, incredible start. Fresh, acid balanced perfectly so you actually taste the fish, clean, instead of just lime juice and spice. And can we talk about the rice? Sounds basic, looked normie, but it was somehow the most flavorful part of the whole meal. This flavor bomb looked plain but IYKYK that this level of execution just looks simple. The rice alone will have you thinking about indulging your inner fat kid and ordering extra to take home. Like the dessert that you'll likely skip because the portions are filling. Ps. Get the flan! We went all in and ordered the seafood chimichanga, steak, shrimp fajitas, and guac on the side. Everything was cooked exactly right. Nice char on the grilled stuff, proteins juicy and tender, nothing dry, nothing overdone. The sauces were bright and punchy too, tasted like rich Mexican flavors with that fresh from the sea quality paired with exceptionally grilled seafood and tender meat. If you're anywhere near Montgomeryville and haven't been, fix that. This place deserves a crowd.

Sadly, we both left disappointed. I ordered the fajitas Veracruz, a combination of chorizo, steak, and chicken. Fajitas are my go-to order whenever I try a new Mexican restaurant, so I was really looking forward to them. Unfortunately, they arrived warm-ish, with none of the sizzling you typically expect from fajitas. The steak was significantly overcooked, tough, and grisly. The chicken was okay, but the entire dish lacked flavor. The green peppers were also barely cooked. I ate a few bites, brought the rest home, and ultimately decided it wasn't worth keeping. I realize you don't know me, but I LOVE leftovers, so the fact that I decided to throw them away says a lot. My husband ordered the seafood tacos, which came with shrimp, octopus, and chorizo. He said they were okay, but also felt they lacked much flavor. After tip, our lunch came to about $60. Unfortunately, we felt that was too expensive for the quality of the food we received. We really wanted to like Boca Del Mar, but based on this experience, we won't be rushing back.
