This place is phenomenal! Beautiful views. I recommend going around sunset. Our server was patient, kind and attentive. I had the mofongo with shrimp and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was not overpowering and they didn't hold back on the quantity of shrimp. Their beans are also delicious and tasted like my grandmas homemade beans. The virgin piña colada- 10/10! Visited El Makito with the family for an early dinner recently. We had nine people in our party and there were plenty of seats available. The view from the balcony was amazing, overlooking the ocean. As an appetizer, we requested a sampler, which included many traditional deep fried vittles. They were hot and tasty. For dinner, I requested churrasco with tostones and my relatives requested seafood and mofongo. Our waitress was fast and friendly. While we waited, we chatted and had some tasty drinks like Coca-Cola, made fresh on the island, mojitos, and the like. A good while later, our food was delivered. It was hot and fresh. My tostones were very tasty, especially when dipped in mayoketchup. My churrasco was too salty, but it still had a good flavor and was a good portion size. It was overcooked, but I didn't mind. Fantastic seafood on the East coast of Puerto Rico in Naguabo. This place is indoor seating with air conditioning. They also have the option for outdoor seating. There is no reservation, you just wait outside and waitress will get you seated. Food was amazing, we ordered the lobster, mixed seafood and shrimp dish. All weee phenomenal! Price was normal for seafood on a coast of Puerto Rico. Service was amazing, food came out in decent time. Limited bar selections, but you go there for the food and ambiance. We visited on a Saturday afternoon. It was quiet, but business was brisk. We sat out on the balcony. Such a beautiful view. Our server was very helpful and attentive. They took time to answer questions without a sense of being hurried. The food was fresh and delicious. My husband had the Ensalada de Pulpo. This was the best we've had. Seating host by the name Keila was very disrespectful, refused to give me her name, but I got it from the manager which I requested. After waiting 1.5 hours to get seated we waited 1hour and 15 minutes for our food. The manager (female, would not give her name). Manager did not apologize and stated that her employees are not disrespectful. I would not recommend theirs restaurant to anyone, horrible experience and terrible customer service. We chose the location due to the view, but they wouldn't accommodate our request for a seat by the window, even though there was an entire row of tables along the left side of the restaurant facing the water. A party of 5 people decided to leave because the waitress refused to give them one of the open tables with a view. The waitress had an attitude from the start, at one point arguing with my elderly aunt about what she had ordered. The food wasn't out of this world, it was just ok. Basic fritters like surullos or calamari weren't good, left them on the plate they came on. If I were in the area again-- wouldn't eat there. Don't recommend. read more

Food was very good. I enjoyed my red snapper very much. My husband wasn't a huge fan of the cubed steak but he's never had it before. I think it was a texture thing. The only thing that bothered me was that the restaurant closed while we were still eating and they put the chairs on top of all the other tables while we were still eating. We weren't procrastinating but felt rushed to finish our dinner. So much so that we just got the rest to go. I understand they want to go home but we all ordered decently priced meals. They were making good money on us. A restaurant should never out chairs on top of tables while guests are still dining. It's rude. The view is pretty and the food was good so we might be back if in the area. We will just go earlier. read more

Our reservation was at 6:30. We waited over 45 minutes before we were seated. Many people came and went before our food finally came after about two hours. I'm pretty sure it was sitting for some time as most of it was very cold and basically awful. Super location on the water though. This should have been an incredible evening, but it wasn't. This Restaurant has been around for a long time and used to be consistently not just good but outstanding and one heck of a bargain for the excellent food, setting and service you always got! But not any more, read on please... We called ahead of time to make a reservation and I was shocked, and I mean SHOCKED, that they answer the phone after two or three rings. This is Puerto Rico, no business answer their phone and when they do is usually because you've annoyed the heck out of them calling repeatedly and letting it ring for 20 or 30 times each call (there was a reason they answered, and you'll read it in a second) but let's just say that "Luis" (I made up the name) answered the phone, took my reservation and quickly hung up as I was literally asking if he needed my name (you know where this is going). He seemed to have been talking to another customer. Once we got there (Lord the view is awesome!) it just seemed a little odd because what appeared to be a customer talking on his cell phone waved at us as if he knew us as we waited to be seated. The outdoor was completely full, as expected, but there was plenty of seating inside so we figured we could wait inside until something became available. Now if we could just sit and order some drinks while we wait we'll be rocking! Remember that customer on the phone? That was "Luis"! He finally asked whomever he was on the phone with to wait for a second so he could talk to us, I told him we made reservations to sit outside and were told that a table for was reserved for us. He said "we have no reservations for you and the patio is full". After splitting his time between his, I will assume distraught girlfriend by the sounds of it, he understood we wanted to sit inside and wait for something to become available. In Puerto Rico you cannot get upset at this sort of thing because if you do you will have a miserable time every day you are here. Good, that is now behind us but wait!!! Now we need to deal with our waitress "Maria" (another made up name by me) fighting and screaming at the other waiting staff because, oh wait for it, they were giving the tables that were becoming available outside to people that came after us but they knew! There were at least three other couples waiting in turn ahead of us for a seat on the patio. This we witnessed three times, right on front of us. I mean, I am laughing as I write this review but it was not funny last night! Remember, if you let this sort of thing bother you in Puerto Rico you will have a miserable time, it is how they/we roll in this island. Then there was the food... I have to admit, the view of the water made it taste a little better but even then it just was not worth what we paid for it. Don't get me wrong, it was not bad, it just wasn't as spectacular as it used to be and the prices have gotten considerably higher. If we go back what we will do is get a place outside and just have drinks and appetizers. No doubt "Luis", "Maria" and the staff may hate that but hey, that may be what it takes for the service to get better! It was a bit of a bummer because I have been coming here sporadically over the span of 20+ years and it was always not just good but outstanding. Perhaps it is now declining and likely to disappear in a few years as the life of restaurants go. Let's hope they get their "mojo" back one of these days. read more

A very popular seaside establishment with a reputation for longer than desirable waits. We have always found the food to be delicious and plentiful. The service while pleasant and helpful does not seem to be able to get the food served in a reasonable time on occasion. Place is always crowded and packed. Maybe we just need to relax more. After read some reviews here, Im a little worry about service, but today service and food was very good! Our server was very nice. Must try fish sticks (homemade and very fresh) and mofongo balls for appetizer. I ordered lobster in garlic sauce with coconut arepas A+!! My partner ordered Fish stuffed mofongo and is really good and big. Prices are a little high for the area, but food is fantastic. Food arrives to the table in about 15 minutes, but everything its made to the order and at the time so its ok!! read more
