Flew in late and this restaurant was close to our hotel. Server did his best to answer our questions in English. We got 1 Arroz Mamposteao (rice & beans) entrees with churrasco (steak) and another one with chicken. Both meats were well seasoned & not dried out. The pechuga de pollo (in garlic butter) my son got was also well seasoned & tender. Husband got mofongo for the first time so he couldn't tell if it was supposed to be dry, but the shrimp inside needs more flavor. read more

Got here thanks to a co-worker referral. He was right on his opinion about the place. At first, the place looked packed, which typically is a good sign. Service was great, location casual, but air conditioned. Lots of options in the menu, we were all very pleased with our selections. My wife loved the mamposteao tasteful rice, the mofongo was great. I loved it all, its hard for me to pick between the beans and the beefsteak. Recommended A+ Portions were reasonable, quality/price deserves a five (5) stars no doubt. read more

This place is AMAZING! Our waiter Ray was awesome too! I had the chuleta kan kan along with white rice and beans and tostones de pana. Yum! My mother had the same but with a 6oz. churrasco. They also have an amazing hot sauce that we even bought to take back home to PA. And you can not forget about dessert!! The tres leches is a must!! Soooo good! Eating here is an absolute must every time I visit PR. The dining area is somewhat small with the seating being pretty close together. It works in this setting because staff and patrons alike are very welcoming. Service is quick, the food is delicious, and the cocktails are always good. My favorites are the mojitos. We walked in and didn't speak any Spanish, they sat us down and had their chef who spoke fluent English help us. He was very sweet and so helpful. Ok, I was told by several people that this was the best place to eat in Levittown, well I say not, I ordered chicharron de pollo, arroz mampostiao and a salad, well let me say the chicken was under season and the arroz mampostiao was not it at all it was arroz guisado and beans. The salad was good. Will not come again. The only reason a gave 3 stars is because of the staff they are outstanding. read more

My review is super late but I still remember how amazing the food was especially the beans...OMG THOSE BEANS Y'ALL!! I just booked a flight to PR just so I can go back here and eat. On top of the good food; the service was awesome too. There were a few locals at the bar where we were sitting and they even gave us alot super good recommendations too. Best mofongo camarones ajillo.......we were in PR 10 days. Ate lots of mofongo. Could not find better. Perfectly cooked shrimp, garlic infused instead of an oily garlic butter poured on as an afterthought. Would highly recommend without reservation. The restaurant is a bit dated but family oriented. I chose this place based on other reviews here and elsewhere, and because of its proximity to my mom which is where I stay when I visit the Island. The food was good, but frankly I have had better tasting PR food at any roast pig food truck on the Island. We ordered first some Mojitos as we were celebrating my partner's birthday. We originally wanted some margaritas but we found out they used the pre-mixed syrup instead of fresh ingredients. The mojitos had no flavor, the limes were bitter and tasted like they had been left outside too long, the mint had been shredded instead of muddled and it had been diluted in soda water till it tasted like a mojito flavored seltzer. Not even a hint of rum. We tried to drink it, hoping that by squeezing the limes some more it might give out more flavor, or maybe that the sugar had not dissolved yet, but that didn't work. We explained this to the server and sent them back and asked for beers. When the bill came, they had not removed the mojitos from the bill, so we asked to talk to the server who took the order, he referred us to the bartender/manager (?) who said we should have to pay for the drinks since we drank half. I tried to explain that we were trying to figure out if there was a way to make them taste better, and since we were not given water we drank some before we gave it up for a bad job and returned them. He then argued that if we wanted water we should have asked for it, and to do so next time. I replied there would not be a next time. Needless to say, I did not pay for the three mojitos, but I anyway left a 20% tip because, despite the attitude of this person, the service had been good. The churrasco was tasty but the mofongo was "soso", it desperately needed some garlic. The seasonal vegetables were perfectly seasoned, though they were obviously frozen and not seasonal. The Criollo shrimp was a bit bland, but the "chicharron de pollo" was good. We didn't even look at the dessert menu, since there was a "panaderia" across the street and we went there for "Quesitos" and a "Cafe con Leche". read more

I can't remember the last time I visited a place as empty as the Kampestre restaurant and I understand it was Tuesday and the service may go slow. It was about 6:00 pm when we arrived at this restaurant. To start with the terrible service we were given, no one welcomed us, so we walked in a bit lost. Most of the staff was talking between them. Even the cook was present. We were 4 and had plenty of tables to choose from. It was very empty. We saw that tables of 4 people were very small and for that reason we went to the table of 6 people near the bar. The waitress told us that we can sit at any table except in the big ones in case that a large group arrived. This was not the only table of 6 people in the restaurant. The bartender from the bar also told us that we can not sit there. We felt very uncomfortable. We also found out of place a police officer in uniform sitting on the bar. Needless to say we left the place. With the idea of pleasing an imaginary large group of customers they lost 4 who would rather go to a local restaurant than a chain. I am an advocate of local support and I love to visit local businesses, but I won't sponsor such a bad service. read more
