One of just a few places to eat in town. If you're heading north from Sacramento on I-5 and can't wait till Williams. You may want to stop here. The tostada in a shell carne asada was very disappointing! A smear of refried beans, a teaspoon of sour cream, pork with the most unusual appearance and NO flavor I've ever had. Staff was polite and prompt. Tortilla Chips nothing special and salsa out of a jar. Wet super burrito was sufficient and ok. Believe it or not best meal find at restaurant was the double cheeseburger for $8.99. Very big, cooked just right with nice fresh lettuce and couple of thick sliced local fresh tomatoes. I'm not sure I'll give this place a 2nd chance. But wanted to share my experience. Both my sons said horchata was exceptional and 1st refill is free! read more

First the hot salsa served with the chips was excellent. I ordered a chicken sope platter with Whole beans. The sope had crispy edges - perfect. The interior had red walls and cute decorations, with rustic wooden furniture. I would stop here again driving from the Bay to Chico. read more

The food was half ass little to no flavor the meat was dry and tough and unevenly cooked. The service was terrible. The waitress was screwed. We ordered an order of food for one of the little kids and she didn't even have the decency to let us know that they couldn't make the food just took it off the bill and then when we questioned about where the food was we were meant with a disdained face and rudeness, like if we should have assumed that they were not gonna know how to make the tacos when we were not informed incredibly rude. Shoulda known by the low scores here that maybe we shoulda just kept driving. Visiting my brother in Arbuckle (a place I never knew existed until a few months ago) I journeyed here and told them we should try some of the local cuisine. We settle down this spot. The place was very dingy, didn't look very clean and overall just didn't quite click. The chips and salsa were bland and the food I ended up ordering (Chile relleno) was also very bland. I got the Chilaquiles Spicy and it wasn't too spicy at all. Had great flavor and was really enjoyable. The tortilla pieces were crunchy as well which is always a plus and frijoles were good texture and taste . Overall Great atmosphere and felt homey. HITS THE SPOT!! GOOD SALSA AND GOOD MEATS!! I called in around 8pm and put in a to-go order, and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When my husband arrived it was clear where to go and they keep their restaurant clean. He didnt have to wait, our order was ready to be picked up. We fed 3 people under $30, without drinks. That's pretty nice if you ask me! We ordered carnitas and asada and both were delicious My husband said he would have preferred a little more meat on his torta and the salsa a little more spicy but that is our only suggestion. My son ordered a super burger and loved everything. His burger looked good and his fries were a good portion. I had their enchilada & taco combo and the carnitas enchilada was delicious. The sauce was amazing and even though my husband said it could use some salt, I preferred it perfectly how it was! I also had an asada taco and that paired with the salsa was a perfect choice to hit the spot! Rice, beans and salad were all pretty basic but still good. For the past 4-5 years, on my way to or from Shasta and Lassen skiing I've been popping into Arbuckle and hitting the other Mexican restaurant, but to my most recent surprise, it was all closed up, shuttered, for sale and so on, so, our enthusiasm and hunger not yet quelled, we went for the next best thing, just a short corner away and found ourselves in the "El Jalisience" . . . but if you pick up one of the menus it's a curious typo, "El Jaliscience" , which had me wondering, is this the local dianetics chapter or what? Anyway, I would have gone straight for a burrito, but my eyes were drawn to #70, the "Tototlan Plate". Maybe I was just super starved after a few days of skiing. Maybe I just had nothing to compare the Tototlan with, or maybe I know nothing, but in that moment, sitting there in the window seat with my pal, Joe ( who loved his tacos ) I was in Tototlan heaven. It was delicious, but like everything, I'll have to hit the place up again, next Shasta trip and see if I was just dreaming. read more

I'm giving this place five stars because they went above and beyond to accommodate a bunch of us out-of-towners. From the Yelp map I can see that's correct, but for some reason the address that we had to get there was for the restaurant next door and we were so confused! Priscilla went out of her way to make sure that we could find the place, standing outside of the restaurant and looking for us. She saved our lives! We need a bathroom, a brunch, and we found everything we needed here. They have great French toast, chilaquiles, custom burritos, and yummy potatoes. The Jamaica had quite a bit of sugar in it, more than our Los Angeles style, so I got a giant glass of water and mixed it together. Extra hydration :-) I would come here again in a heartbeat. The ambience is great, the people are so nice, the service and the food or a great too--especially when you're in the middle of nowhere on a road trip. read more

Staff lacks customer service skills. Especially the young girls their crappy attitudes. If you don't want to be there then get a new job, that simple. Food takes a minimum of at least 30 minutes even for one burrito. Save your lunch time and go to the taco truck across from chevron. read more

Driving I-5 at the Northern end of the San Joaquin Valley you'll see a sign for Arbuckle and College City. It's worth taking the exit for a a 3 block tour of main street Arbuckle and grab lunch before getting back onto the freeway. Small agricultural town with 2 Mexican restaurants and a Taco Truck. I ate lunch at El Jalisience Mexican restaurant. Food is standard fare - Combo plates with tacos, burritos, chimichangas, etc. Serivce is fine. New owner comes by to persoanlly ask how everything is. Waitress was a teenie bopper local wearing the "Don't you wish you were my boyfriend shirt" that was 2 sizes to small. Nuf said. Place is nice and clean. The restaurant actually has a seperate bar and pool room in the back that is also pretty clean and well lighted. This looks like the local hangout for a lot of the Mexican American community. The place offers free WiFi - a total plus when you are travelling in these rural areas! As for downtown Arbuckle there is actually some promising signs of life. If they can keep out the fast food chains, truck stops, and monster subdivision homes this might actually grow up to be an interesting place to visit a little more indepth. read more

Excellent food and great service. We go in at least twice a month for breakfast and have never been disappointed. They have a large selection to choose from and you can pick from burgers to seafood, with everything in between. On a road trip and became ravenous. Went here because the highly rated mexican place in town was closed for a private event. It started with the salsa that left a lot to be desired. The guacamole, I added a salt and pepper to give it some needed flavor. I had the cheese enchilada and salad. The salad was fine-lettuce was fresh. The enchilada sauce tasted like a blend of ketchup/pasta sauce/enchilada sauce. We also ordered the rice. It was okay. If I was not so hungry, I would have left after the salsa. I go here often enough to know when they made a big change to their portions and not the prices. I ordered nachos and it came in a container half the size of what we used to get. I called the restaurant to ask if they made a change in the price to offset the portion size. The lady who answered the phone was apologetic but then stated that the size is "pretty much the same". When I told her that the nachos before were enough for myself and my husband and this order was not even enough for me; all she could say was sorry. I ordered 5 items for over $71 dollars.
