I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was excellent and the amount of food you get is crazy.

We are on vacation on St. george Island. We have gone here every year for 5 years for spring break. We needed a break from seafood so we drove over to Eastpoint. It was a cool looking store. Pretty big. We waited for 20 minutes, as a party of 8 even though there were tables open. The chips and salsa were delicious. When we got our food, we all ordered rice. The rice was delicious. The reason this is 4 stars is because the amount of rice (and beans) we all got was UNBELIEVABLE. I (as a 12 year old girl) got rice and beacons with tortillas to make my own burrito. I promise you, I took 4 bites and my food was gone. I was starving at the end. Everyone else agreed that there was not a lot of rice. But, I'm sure that this might have just been today, and others might not have had this trouble. (Considering that one of the reviews said they could share a whole plate) I would recommend this place for kids. There is a huge menu as well Edit: Forgot to mention my food was cold. I have been in this restaurant more times than we have been in Florida! A must go to when visiting the area. They have plenty of space for a fairly big sized party and, plenty of space for the smaller sized parties also. When ordering, the waitstaff uses all 6 senses to make sure your last bite of food is great. I ordered the Enchilada Trio and inhaled my plate; truth be told, I don't think I even tasted the chicken in my enchiladas, because I inhaled them so fast, that's how good they were! ENJOY. That didn't keep the service from being less than good. Don't go during a soccer game because that's what they're watching. Then one order was totally wrong. Not sure why anyone wouldn't give this place 5 stars? This is standard Mexican place, but the food is great! I ate here for both dinner and breakfast. I had the Poblano Relleno for dinner. I wish I had taken a picture! It wasn't the standard stuffed peppers covered in cheese and over baked. It came in a Hot stone bowl and the peppers were draped over the edge like a flower. The bowl was full of shrimp, peppers & onions. Delicious!! Breakfast is standard American fare, but they do have a couple Tex-Mex options. Service was quick and attentive both times! We ate here twice on our recent trip to St. George Island. Margaritas were pretty good, but the food was even better. Between my husband and I on these visits, we had the chimichangas (good), the ChorioPollo (good), and the Chicken de la Crème, I believe it's called. THIS IS THE ONE TO ORDER. I cannot emphasize this enough. It isn't covered in the queso that you're used to. It's SMOTHERED in some sort of cheesy, gooey, stringy, thick, warm, white cream. I think the last breakfast I enjoyed at a Mexican Restaurant was actually in Mexico, although I chose a traditional breakfast here at El Jalisco the decor and service immediately had me wishing I had chosen a tortilla instead of a biscuit. This part of Florida still hasn't fully recovered from Hurricane Michael (October 10, 2018 - Cat 5) but these are resilient people and they have made great progress in putting it all back together. The restaurant businesses are still struggling to fully get back and like most areas there are "now hiring" signs everywhere. This restaurant seemed to be fully staffed, for all I know the entire staff could of been family and friends whatever the case may be this crew was working their tails off especially since it's one of the few open for breakfast service and it was pretty busy. I didn't exactly find this place by happenstance - the night before we were having dinner at a different restaurant and struck up a conversation with a deputy sheriff who was picking up her to go order, we ask for a recommendation and she immediately suggested this place. We walked in and were immediately seated and given menus - I noticed the menu showed they served Coca-Cola Products but they converted to Pepsi so I got a Mountain Dew - yes soda for breakfast although I was craving a cup of good strong coffee, being pretty observant I noticed they only had non-dairy coffee-mate on the table and that convinced me I wanted a carbonated beverage because I'm of the opinion all restaurants should offer ultra-pasteurized half & half. The service here was good although getting the check at the end of the meal was a little challenging especially if you plan to pay at the table, I found standing at the counter is effective. The Food Get the pork chop, even better get two. The hash browns were good and they were crispy. The eggs were cooked correctly we had scrambled and over-medium. The ham was good but I recommend the pork chops. Biscuits vs Toast - get the toast (they have smuckers Concord grape jelly) or get tortillas. Well back here again after a long while. Ordered meal off menu and a coffee, got my ticket and meal is priced $1.20 more. At register i told them they overcharged me by the menu price. The girl wasn't sure what to do! Another came by and deducted the coffee. Bill is now $7.54, I give a $20, she gives me $12 and they start talking. I'm waiting for the rest of my change and ask her for it. The other gets very indignant and puts a dollar in my hand. "Just go, just go, keep the change" I try telling them they only need to change the price on the menu so it's correct! "Just go and have a good day"! Kinda useless the drama!! Haha! Food was mediocre. One item was I had chicken fajitas and was worst I have had. They cooked the onions and peppers but the chicken was not cooked as usual with the veggies but simple piece of grilled chicken laid on top. Now my friend who had combo of steak, shrimp and chicken got his chicken cooked with sauce and veggies. But was really bad was our service. Our server seemed more interested in hanging out at cash register. Has to wait awhile to get orders - she did not speak clear English. Friend got bean dip and we had to remind her of our spinach dip which was more queso than spinach. Had to ask passing server for more chips. Had to ask another server for corn tortillas I ordered vs flour I ordered. Never got our water refilled. After cleaning our table had to yell for attention to get tickets. Ok the food is decent but the staff sucks. Walked in and no one greeted us. There were a bunch of employees sitting at a table eating food and talking super loud, like literally yelling. We were finally seated and were brought chips and salsa (also property decent tasting) but the girl who brought it basically threw them down. When we said thank you she didn't say a thing. Then shortly after than she started sweeping the floor with a broom. Dust was being kicked up. I almost got up and told her that was completely rude and unacceptable. We had a dinner here recently. During the ten days we stayed on the island this was by far our most economical meal. We paid about the same as we would at a Mexican restaurant that wasn't in a tourist area. The inside of the restaurant looked just like that have hundreds of other Mexican restaurants and that was just fine with us. Not every restaurant near the ocean has to be decorated with fish paintings and seagulls statues. The food came out very quickly and was good, but not spectacular. It was a bit on the bland side. The service was competent, but not enthusiastic. Our server obviously wanted to be somewhere else. The next time we are in the area I'm sure we will have at least one meal here. Before I start, the food was great and was not at all the problem. However, our server provided arguably the worst service I have ever received across the entire of the southeast that I have traveled to. As a server myself, I have never been to a restaurant where I was not once provided an itemized bill prior to paying. Other tables received a checkbook, however we were told to pay up front but were not provided a check. Upon going upfront, he proceeded to run our credit card before providing an itemized bill prior, and we did not receive one after. The prices on the menu reflected that our bill should've been around $65 accounting for tax and rounding up a bit for safe measure, however our bill was $72 and did not add up. On top of this, we were not once checked on our entire time. Our drinks, chips, and anything else you could think of ran out and was bone dry and there was not a server in sight. However, it was not very busy and there was no excusable reason for the service provided. We paid our bill without making a huge scene, but if you are in the area I would absolutely recommend traveling further to a better restaurant. We were starving because the place we thought we would eat at was closed and it was getting late. El Jalisco was open and we found a parking place. I had not researched it ahead of time (unusual for me) but we have it a shot. So glad we did! It's not the best I've ever had in my life, but it was very good! Big points for the meats - the beef was not swimming in grease and the chicken was tender (not mushy) and all was flavorful. Each weekday, two of the lunch specials are discounted and that's a real bargain. Chips were hot and the salsa came out in a small carafe with two separate dishes so we had our own! That was a nice touch. Service was less than stellar - we didn't see our waitress after we got our food. She did seem to have a lot of tables, but no one came by to check on us and we had to go find her for our check. Otherwise it was a pleasant surprise! read more

I came here on vacation as a last resort, but it was excellent! Our server was very understanding and friendly despite somewhat of a language barrier, and he made sure we had everything we needed. The coffee was hot and delicious, and they gave us plenty of refills for free despite the menu saying no refills. I ordered 4 pancakes and it was a good sized portion for 7$. I liked that they had warm syrup and honey available for the pancakes also. My grandparents both got the shrimp omelette, and they could not stop raving about it. As a tourist, it felt like my Mexican restaurant at home. However, the food was visually plain, but, good. For instance, my husband ordered a burrito and expected rice and beans on the side. It was inside his burrito. I ordered street tacos with carnitas and they had a special sauce that made up for the lettuce and cheese. I ordered a "Swirl Margarita " .
