Food was very good. Service was good but very slow. TVs and Bars restraint is pretty big.

We recently stayed at the Saint James Bay golf and Pickleball resort and had an amazing time. Dining at the Crooked River Grill on site only added to that great experience. The staff was super friendly and the dinner there was so tasty each night we dined. The first night we had the blackened seafood platter and the egg rolls for an appetizer. Both were so good! We closed the night with the chocolate cake and it was amazing! The second night we found out it was shortstaffed but we couldn't tell. It was only because they had a limited menu that we even found out. I had the salmon with the wedge salad and my husband had the Alfredo with salmon. And again, we had the chocolate cake! The drinks were good. They have live music on Saturday evenings in the beer garden which is a lovely place to dine as well. We are looking forward to our return. read more

If you are staying at beautiful St James Bay and don't want to drive to Carrabelle or Panacea for food, this is a good option. Service is friendly and food is good. There is something for everybody on the menus. I have visited the restaurant several times and have always had a good experience. Most recently, I really enjoyed the Chicken Picatta. The desserts are pretty good too. The best thing about Crooked River Grill is the location. It's a great place for drinks and snacks with friends after a round of golf or pickleball. read more

Cannot express how awful my brother is feeling after our experience having my moms birthday dinner here tonight. My brother asked the waitress if the fries were gluten free after making it very clear that he is gluten free and he was told twice that that they were gluten free. 5 minutes into eating the fries the cook came out and said "well the fries have only a little gluten in them and you'll be fine". Well my brother has celiacs disease and has been in pain and distress for hours since leaving this restaurant. The waitress was very apologetic and sweet, the cook was not. No manger or anyone else ever came over to say anything. This was my mother's birthday dinner on our family vacation and it was ruined by the cooks negligence to speak to the truth before serving a food to someone with such a severe allergy. I cannot express how disappointed we are and how terrible my brother is feeling - likely will for days to come. read more

Ate dinner there with a group of four with reservations. It was a slow night, which is usually a bad sign. The host gave us a cheery hello, but then walked off without a word and fussed with three or four tables. So we wandered to the area where he went and took a logical table. Service began slowly and got slower. The food was good enough, but not great. "Another drink?" No. "Dessert menu?" No. Not once after being served did our waitress ask if we needed anything. Our waitress appeared to leave. I had to walk around and tag another waitress and tell her it was way past time for our check to be presented. She was harried but did produce the check. Every place can have a bad night and I may try it one more time, but this time was quite terrible and I am not optimistic. For a venue inside a golf course this is an awesome place to come and enjoy a nice cocktail and food. They also have a great buffet option on Sundays and live music on the weekends. The service is friendly and adequate. Overall a nice experience. read more

We stayed at St James Bay Resort for a weekend getaway & Crooked River Grill was the restaurant that was at the resort. We had Sunday breakfast which was great! Everything was made fresh & well cooked - the coffee was strong & good too! Chef came out to speak to us- very nice! Lots of nice seating options too! Monday we grabbed breakfast sandwiches as their weekday breakfast menu is limited and those were also good! It's a good place & very convenient if you are staying in the area. read more

On 8/16/25 my friend, Irene, and I had the great pleasure of dining at this establishment. Upon learning the entrée I wanted was no longer offered, our wonderful waitress, LouAnn, asked Chef Santos if he had any suggestions for a substitute. Chef Santos made us a customized meal that was amazingly flavorful and pure perfection. After our meal Chef Santos came to our table and spoke with us for a while. He and LouAnn were professional and such a delight. The atmosphere was calm and everyone was friendly and and a joy to talk with. We were searching for lunch via Yelp on a roadtrip. Honestly we were disappointed that we could only find a golf course restaurant in the area. The wife was getting "hangry" so we thought we were surrendering to a mediocre meal. But alas, this grouper sandwich was the best we'd had on our roadtrip around the gulf from Tampa to New Orleans. Here recently, my wife and I, along with an additional couple went for dinner to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We ordered Shepard's pie, along with a double GT (adult beverage). When we got the tab, the drink cost more than our entree. 23.00. 46.00 in two drinks. Double gin and tonic. A month earlier we were there, ordered the same drink... 14.00 When ErinW was questioned regarding the additional cost. Her response was- "I don't know, I just push buttons and that's what they charged you"..totally unacceptable. I will not return. It's not so much the ridiculous charge, but more the "I don't give a rip" attitude. No attempt was made to find out a reasonable explanation. Delicious grilled seafood and great hospitality! We were staying at the resort so we decided to eat in the restaurant. There were lots of seafood options on the menu and on the recommendation of Jessica, we tried the Ochlockonee Bay Sampler - a platter with grouper, shrimp, scallops and crab cake that we had cooked blackened style. Spent our thanksgiving in Apalachacola fishing and wanted to try something new so we stopped by for dinner. What a great place! Not only was the food delicious the atmosphere was nice and the staff are wonderful! I ordered the Seafood Platter for lunch/dinner and chose blackened with seasoned vegetables as the side. The food was well prepared and the shrimp and scallops were tasty, however I can't understand why you'd serve Swai as the fish on the seafood platter when your restaurant is literally less than a mile from the Gulf. Swai is a Vietnamese farm-raised catfish and it often comes from densely-packed fish farms where chemicals and antibiotics are used in excess, causing water pollution and health concerns. The fish was NOT good, trying to save $$, but cutting corners here is quite obvious. The vegetables could use a little less seasoning. Also, the gator bites we ordered as an appetizer came out with the mains! When we first came in, we were the only people in the place, so can't blame it on being busy. read more

Last night was the final straw, took the wif out for what I thought would be a dinner. Boy was I wrong! Arrived about 6:30, sat fir 10 minutes finally got a waitress ordered drinks and dunner. Drink was good but service was beyond bad! I ordered the prime rib and wife ordered a burger ab fries. After 30 minutes food finally came wifes burger ordered med rare came out beyond well done, mine came out cooked righ but baked potato was cold. Wife sent burger back came back raw! Finally told them just to keep it. Waitress never came by to check on us, had to have another Waitress get us water and clean our table. On top of everything else they add an additional charge for using a credit card! Without telling you. I don't know who's running it but I will never go back and will tell everyone I know not togo. read more

I went here while in town visiting family. I felt like I was being served by family. Everyone here was wonderful, server, bar staff and management. The head cook (Nola?) came out to ask how our meal was and the front of house manager (Becky) ensured that we had a wonderful time. Now the food - I had the Grouper, which was phenomenal! My daughter had the quesadilla which was well stuffed (I had some of the leftovers). I would recommend both, as well as the Spinach and Artichoke dip and Gumbo. Portion sizes were a great value for the money. I would absolutely return when in town again. There was a wing special going on - I wanted to take advantage of the seafood. read more

Our golf trio ate here before playing a great round of 18 on the course. Good for a convenient bite before golfing. I had a chicken salad, and my companions had a BLT and the Philly cheesesteak. The fries were the highlight of the meal for sure. They were crispy on the outside and really nice and soft on the inside. I'd probably just get a large order of those if I came back again. The chicken salad was good and a little bit unique in that it had carrots in it. Very tasty and fresh though. Our waitress said the recipe for the chicken salad changes every day depending on who makes it. Service was quick, but not especially friendly until it was time to pay. They gouge you on the drinks, chips, and candy bars. It was $14 for three candy bars and three bottles of water, but I didn't note the price for our meal. read more

The food was decent but not particularly striking of "fresh" seafood. I've had better seafood at nice restaurants in the midwest. The service was awful!! Took at least ten minutes to get something as simple as crackers. The server had no personality. There was a hole in one of the young children's with us styrofoam cup which resulted in a soaked table chair and child and there was no offer what so ever to remedy the situation, from cleaning it, to bringing a new chair to offering a desert, etc. read more

We ate here because we were staying at the resort for a night and there are limited dining options in the area. We were seated quickly. We asked for a high chair but the server never brought one. Upon ordering, she let us know that 18 other people had just come in so our food might be slow to come out. Not a huge deal, but she was clearly flustered - and there weren't that many tables in the place, maybe 10 total with 2 servers on shift. The food was interesting. The tortilla chips and salsa came with salsa that was definitely purchased in bulk, but it tasted like Costco salsa (which is good, in our book) so we were fine with it. The grilled gulf shrimp were definitely good, but not amazing. Our side of mashed potatoes were 100% instant potatoes. I ate them all the time growing up, I know a dehydrated and rehydrated potato mass when I taste one. It wasn't gross, but I was irritated that I was paying for pantry food. We also got the kid's grilled cheese, which was absolutely prepared with Kraft singles or a similar quality cheese. Tasted like elementary school lunch, which was nostalgic, but again, not something I'd want to pay for at an actual restaurant. Drive into Carrabelle and eat in town, it's probably worth it. My husband and I have eaten here a few times and not only is the service great but the food is awesome. Management goes over and beyond to make sure everything, service and food (both done in and carry-out) is perfect for you. During quarantine when I was tired of cooking, the meals that were served to go, as specials were wonderful. After my stroke recently Management even messaged me to check in on me and told us of some heart healthy mealGrilled Seafoods that they serve. Which I might add are very delicious too. I came here twice during my vacation and it was very good. My first experience was the Sunday brunch buffet and it was the absolute best! We came at 12 and they were constantly adding fresh food to the buffet. I got a big plate of fried seafood and breakfast meats and they were hot and delicious. The Shrimp and Fish were straight out of the fryer, and the Bacon was some of the best I have had. The pancakes were superior, after I ate all of them out of the buffet they made some fresh for me and brought them to my table. The desserts on the buffet were excellent too, the best was the lemon custard fried pie and the chocolate pie. The second time I came they only had their regular menu, so I just ordered 4 pancakes. It was a lighter breakfast, but I thoroughly enjoyed several cups of hot coffee along with the pancakes. Overall this place was exceeded my expectations by a mile, they have great food, prices, and service. I highly recommend you give this Golf Course Restaurant a try. read more

I'm new to the area and have been in the Crooked River grill several times. Most were enjoyable, not great just a nice lunch or dinner. Yesterday, Sunday, my wife and I went for lunch, the brunch menu was in place. I wanted Shrimp and Fish but sway was the fish of the day, they called catfish. Significant difference. We were 1 of maybe 4 tables when arriving and could tell they were understaffed. My wife ordered an omelette I ordered a burger ( medium rare), server said they would only cook to medium. We received our food in a decent amount of time, however they didn't bring condiments requested when the order was placed. I ate half the burger before I received the condiments after asking twice. Wifes omelette was ok, hot, my burger was as dry and overcooked as possible. I ate it anyway. The only time my server returned to my table was to drop off the check. I also went to the bar to get tea refills. After waiting an extended time for my server to pick up CC for payment I went up to the bar, hoping for someone to tab me out. After waiting another 10 minutes there, the chef/cook was standing there and I ask him to close out my bill. He told me I'd need to have my server do so, I said good luck with that. He then snatched the check / CC from my hands with an attitude and closed me out. I want this place to do well, we have few restaurants in this area. Management dropped the ball. Way understaffed! To my server, I'm sorry I didn't tip you, but your management should. Just saying! read more
