I noticed the El Jalapeno food truck parked at the Fulton Street Farmers Market the past few times I've been there. I like going to the farmers market on Friday mornings when it's less busy, so last Friday I arrived around 8 am and wanted a bite to eat for breakfast. El Jalapeno doesn't have a "regular" breakfast menu during the week (I heard an employee say they only have breakfast on the weekends), but I'll eat anything at breakfast time. I ordered a steak burrito which was about $12. There were a couple of picnic tables near the truck so I sat and waited for my food. I should have asked for it to go, as it came out on a paper plate, but I decided it would be best to eat at least part of it when it was hot and fresh anyway.
The burrito was massive! I definitely could have split it with Nate, who went into the market to get a different breakfast option. I took half home for later. The steak was flavorful and seasoned well and the burrito was stuffed with lots of fillings; rice, lettuce, refried beans, tomato, sour cream, and a side of salsa. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious - I particularly liked the refried beans in the burrito, which was surprising for me, because usually I could go without.
The employees were all super friendly and polite and the smells wafting out of the truck were mouth-watering! I would love to try more of their food in the future and look forward to visiting them again soon. read more
