Tacos al pastor
Mark O.

Very friendly guy running the counter last night (7/13/18). I think he's the manager or owner. Pleasant to deal with. Food was reasonably priced...an al pastor taco was $2.50. A very large mug of horchata I believe was $2.00 or $2.50. The tacos included plenty of appropriate condiments. I'm not a fan of salsa verde, but the salsa roja had an appropriate balance of spice and vegetables. The meat was so-so. Tasted dry and lacked flavor, as if it had been off the spit for a long time. Will try during primetime hours next time, as I was in close to end-of-shift.

Amazing and authentic Mexican food! The homemade tortilla chips were warm right out of the fryer. I've never had such good chips, and the fresh guacamole was the best I've ever had. The prices aren't bad for all the food that you get. I didn't expect my quesadilla to be as big as it was. The entrees also included some salsa. The food was cooked quickly. We'll definitely be going back here to try some other dishes. I noticed they do grub hub and a lot of takeout orders, but they do have a nice seating area to enjoy your meal inside or outside on the tables.

Chips & guac. Street tacos. BIG menu. Hole in the wall with good food! We tried the al pastor. Maybe not the best I've ever had, but it's good. Give this place a go!

Chicken Fried Taco

Placed an order for pickup, & order was ready in 10 mins. The restaurant had a tiny parking lot, which isn't a big deal. It was very clean inside, & staff was friendly. I ordered fried chicken tacos for me and a chicken burrito for my boyfriend. The chicken was great, and overall the food was delicious. Btw, the burritos come with rice, beans, and cheese with your choice of meat and a side of chips - which is good to know because the menu didn't point this out. The red salsa isnt very spicy, and I preferred it over the green salsa (which was a bit spicier but not too much) - as im not a fan of spicy food - but both were good. I also ordered Horchata, it was refreshing, and very lightly sweetened (which i do prefer). Will def come back again! So glad that there is a tasty mexican restaurant so close to where I live!

Burrito, rice, chips and salsa

Rice and salsa are super delicious. Beans have a nice smoked taste. My burrito was excellent. There are a lot of menu items. The two women who were working were both pleasant and so sweet! A great place for a quick bite or a family/friend outing!

Huarache w/carne asada (steak).

Thank goodness the restaurant we were going to was closed on Sunday... 16 Yelpers said 5 stars to El Huarache so we went. SO GLAD WE DID. A Mexico City staple that means 'sandal' in Spanish, this thick masa with frijoles was homemade. Like wow homemade. The carne Assad's (steak) with crema, cilantro, and queso fresco (dry cheese) was really, really good. And the guacamole too. But the salsa made it all. Two homemade (red & green), with homemade chips (are you getting the trend here? Homemade!). We lived in Mexico and first Huaraches outside of there (and L.A.) that we liked. Beer, Mexican Coke, Jarritos too. Just like Mexico. I wanted another Coke and the staff was busy so I grabbed it from behind the counter, held it up, and got a nod. You pay for everything afterwards. Now on the official rotation with Hacienda la Taquerias for authentic Mexican food. If you like El Loro, please do not come here... you won't know what to order. But if you want authentic....

Legitimately great Mexican food. Easily best in the area. It's a order at the counter kind of restaurant which is cool with me that I don't have to spend another 15-20%. Clean dining area. Super friendly and helpful staff that answered questions and gave suggestions. And get this....they genuinely said thank you for coming in when we left. I would encourage people to check it out for the guacamole alone. Cooker guy definitely hand mashed it 30 seconds before bringing it to our table. Tacos are pretty standard (3 with meat of choice with rice and beans for 10 bucks), good but same as all other better quality Mexican spots. Quesadilla is well above average in size and flavor (real corn tortilla). The chilaquiles were really good as well. Stop going to El Loro and give this place a try. Your tummy will thank you.

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. It's a little off the beaten path between downtown Shakopee and 169. Every time I've driven past, it seems not very busy. So, it took me a while to want to try this. But I'm so glad I did! Everything we ordered was fresh and amazing! Definitely coming back to try more.

Burrito and fries.

So I continue to search for good Mexican Restaurants, and today I found one with great food and salsa that has a great kick. This place is a bit out of the way but definitely worth trying out. Staff is very friendly, walked in and was greeted and asked if any questions about the menu. Ordered at the counter and then found a table. Food came out pretty quickly and was a good temperature. What we ordered: Huaraches Al Pastor (diced pork chop and chorizo) Mix of tacos (Al pastor and grilled beef) Burrito (they used a burger and chopped it up for my daughter since they don't do ground beef.) The Huaraches had great flavor. Not an entree I had previously had but the beans in the tortilla and the mix of toppings made a great combination. The green and red salsas were outstanding. The tacos were very tasty and came with rice and beans. The burrito came with fries since they made it a kids meal for us. Drinks were Guava and Apple soda and a mango smoothie. Will definately be back.

Drive thru sign. Permanently closed for sure.

We love Bravis! Their new location is such an upgrade from their previous spot downtown Shakopee…read more Much more seating - booths, tables, picnic table style seats, bar seating. Love the murals on the walls celebrating the Minnesotan culture and icons. The service is always great, and the servers always have a good menu recommendation if you're unsure what to get. The bar has delicious drinks and their Jamaica juice is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Happy hour is a nice discount on some favorite items. I will say anything with shredded chicken isn't my favorite (not enough seasoning on the chicken for my taste) but everything else we've tried is a hit! We always start off with the chips and salsa flight and add cheese sauce - it's NOT a queso, there's no peppers or spice. The creamy green sauce is our favorite salsa they make, it's delicious on everything. The torta is a great choice if you're unsure what to get, the pineapple bowl is awesome if you're trying to share with others. Tacos and burritos are always a hit - I love the crunch of the pork belly and the flavor of the al pastor, taco toppings are onion and cilantro unless you get the loaded taco with slaw. The burrito could probably feed two people with an appetizer. It's a little higher priced than your typical plate of tacos but the quality of the food is always top notch, the kitchen is open and clean, and I've never left hungry or without leftovers. I will note - if you're looking for "traditional" Mexican food this probably isn't the spot you're looking for. It's still delicious just slightly different than what you'd get at your typical taqueria.

They take your number so we left to a brewery down the street while we waited. The employee did get my number wrong and I had to go up to have them doule check it. But then we were seating in a really nice and spacious booth! This place has 2 for 1 drinks (certain ones)! We love that and my husband enjoyed the pacificos. I had a regular cactus marg, which was recommended by our server and amazing - very melony. For food, we started with the queso, which is wonderful. I can always give kutos to a restuarant that puts rotel in it, would definitely get again. I will say it's rather large - so definitely a shareable size. We also both got tacos, I got the fish and my husband the pastor. I loved my fish, it was large and the toppings were great. My husband said he wished it was Al Pastor and more shredded instead of cubed - but still good. Overall, we had a great first experience and our server provided us with wonderful service. She gave us advice on our meals and we had great conversation. This will be going into our regular staples!

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but not something this stellar!…read more I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Taco, and it was a flavor bomb! The shrimp were very flavorful and the whole thing just came together nicely. Yum! Second was a kid's menu Quesadilla with ground beef which needed absolutely zero sauce because the meat was so well-seasoned. The tortilla was soft and nicely grilled. A definite winner. It came with beans and rice on the side, neither of which was special. The take on Street Corn was different, a soda cup of corn with the street toppings on top and layered in the middle. The sauce tasted like mayonnaise and I didn't care for it. It was like canned corn with some stuff on it, but one miss on an otherwise home run of a meal wasn't bad. The Queso Blanco was a perfect consistency and the chips were good if lacking salt. Note that the queso is about 1/4 cup, a small portion perfect for me. I tasted all three salsas and loved them, especially the salsa verde.

Came for the chicken and, while it tasted good, it didn't taste like anything different compared to other grilled chicken restaurants. It tasted as though the flavor/seasoning was only on the surface (skin) but not yet had time to penetrate the meat. Enjoyed sitting outside, dipping the chicken in the variety of salsas from the salsa bar! Very flavorful sauces! Next time I'm in the area, I'll come back and try the chicken again with some tacos.
