This is the "Tres leches" cake. The tray is supposed to be wet with the 3 milks. As you can see the cake was dry. No trace of milk on the tray. Cake was dry, inside jam was the store bought processed kind. Also cakes are way overpriced for the taste and quality. This was the smallest one at $29, the medium (regular sized round cake) was $39 and a sheet cake was $49. They tried but there are way better cakes elsewhere read more

Heard about a Mexican Bakery called El Hornita Bakery out on Rutherford Blvd. Took a ride out there and WOW...as you can see from the pictures this is a really cool place. I roamed around the store and a lady came out named Maggie...the owner. We strolled the store and she answered my questions about the different things throughout the store. She showed me how you pick up an orange tray (like a lunch tray in school) and a set of tongs. Go through the store opening cabinets and selecting the pastries, cookies, or cakes you desire and loading up the tray. When you are in a candy shop, by the time you get to the checkout there's sticker shock cause you're like "how much???"...not in this case. The entire tray of goods I selected, barely over $6!!! Forgive me for not remembering all of the names of the baked goods, but...The Tres Leches is raspberry and DELICIOUS. One of the best Tres Leches I have ever tasted and they have a number of different flavors. The pastry shaped like an arrowhead covered in sugar is loaded with pineapple. The thick cookie is a vanilla cookie that literally melts in your mouth. I picked up a roll I believe is similar to a Spanish Bocadillo that will be an incredible sandwich tomorrow. The cake is a mango fruit with cream...yet to be sampled. They have meat filled pastries, cakes for any occasion, and of course just a few pastries to satisfy your sweet tooth. Can you say pastry heaven? I walked in on a Sunday afternoon, and there were soooooo many selections here. I loved it so much and will definitely be back. You pretty much just walk in, grab a tray, and grab a tong. After that, you walk around and grab whatever you want, and put it on the tray. When I say there is a variety to choose from, there was so much here. I love pastries, so this was pastry heaven to me. Now let's talk about prices. The prices here was amazing. I grabbed a coconut juice, big slice of cake from the fridge, a donut, and about 6 other pastry items, and the the price was only $11. Yesss I will be back! Every single week! My husband and I went in here and there was no one who spoke English and no one who understood English! They tried to use a phone translator but even could not understand us. We were trying to figure out how it worked in there. There was no one to explain! So after about 10 minutes we just left. Not a good way to run a business. read more

A REAL bakery. Fantastic. Love the place. Murfreesboro has needed a bakery that had sweet and savory offerings. Where have you been? So I stopped in to check the place out. It is quite big, with lots of goodies. After wandering around, I grabbed a tray and thought to myself, "OK, I'll get some stuff that looks yummy." A case by the door was FILLED with huge cookies. I grabbed a Neapolitan tricolor, tri-lobed thing and put in on the self-serve tray you get at the door. Then I found these triangle looking things that had the word Philadelphia and a Spanish word that looked like cream. Assuming it was a cream cheese pastry, I put that next to the cookie. That cookie was bigger than my hand. Samples of something like a tiramisu were on the counter. Generously filled, I almost had my dessert for the evening from that sample. The cases were filled with beautiful looking cakes. Hefty slices were in the case, but I passed on those because I would not be able to keep them cold. Circling around, I found my last selection. It was not labeled, but it was big and covered in chocolate. Picking it up with the self-serve tongs, I realized how dense it was, and headed to pay. Minimum order for a debit card is $5. OK. Then sadness hit. My three pastries only came to $2.71. I was NOT going to leave without my goodies. The shelves below the counter had full loaves of bread. Without thinking, I grabbed on that looked yummy and put that on the counter, bring the bill to a whopping $5.99. So, OK, nothing is labeled and the staff has not mastered English. Their bakery spoke delicious. At home, my wife and I dissected the treats. The Neapolitan cookie was a cross between a sugar cookie and shortbread. I was right about the cream cheese pastry, and it was good. The chocolate covered bomb was wonderful. It was similar to a spice cookie. The bread was great, too, not white fluff from a commercial wrapper. My eyes guided me to some great selections. One could say that I am an adventuresome eater, just grabbing stuff off the shelf. Well, to you I say, for a tick under six bucks, how could I go wrong? I guess if you have food allergies, you should stay away, though. If you cannot tell what a cookie looks like,or a loaf of bread then stay out. If it is important to you that you get white bread and not sourdough, stay out. If you want to tantalize your taste buds, go in and come home happy. read more

Awesome bakery! It is self-serve so grab a tray and tongs when you walk in. Grab what you want out of the cabinets then go to the registers to pay. You have to ask for the refrigerated items. There are no prices, names or ingredients listed. There were lots of people around to answer our questions though. They were very helpful and everything was CHEAP. We walked out with 1 package of cookies, 3 large cookies, slice of cake, flan and a couple of doughnuts. I paid $10. It is a Mexican bakery and while I can't speak Spanish they spoke enough English for me to understand. If I need to learn how to speak Spanish to shop here I would! :) read more

This is an amazing bakery! Everything is fresh and the cakes are beautiful. My kids especially like the cream cheese filled hat pastries. Although I don't speak Spanish I have never had trouble communicating with the staff. They are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this bakery. read more
