Great, friendly service, so I bumped it up a star. However the food was disappointing. I ordered the Mexican pizza. However, the crust is just a deep fried tortilla which got super soggy and impossible to pick up with your hands. The toppings are basically the same as fancy nachos: ground beef, cheese, onion, guacamole, sour cream, & salsa. It was just a sloppy mess. I may try them again, or may not. read more

This restaurant is convenientLu located and reasonably priced. I go In to pick up their chicken taco salad because my granddaughter loves them. I picked one up today. The usually crisp, fresh tortilla bowl that holds the salad is great. Today the tortilla was so stale it was not edible. I could not return it but question any decision to continue business with them. maybe the cook just gave me a stale totrills because I ordered take out. No repercussions for them. Decided to mix it up and stop here instead of our usual Mazatlan. They have really great tortillas - super fresh and homemade. They're honestly so good that I would order them to use at home. Sadly, we weren't impressed with much else- the house margaritas tasted like a mix instead of made fresh and the meat was pretty overdone in both of our dishes. Was looking for a taco place that a friend had told me about and thought this might be it (spoiler alert - it wasn't), so I came for lunch during break of a motorcycle class @ PCC (I had to be back by 1:15 PM and got there around 12:20, so plenty of time). Service was quick and I got seated immediately, brought water and chips and salsa. I ordered a steak salad, which didn't take long to arrive, and I promptly ate it. It wasn't great, but I don't know if that was just because it's salad and salad isn't really great to begin with, but the steak was somewhat burned and even with dressing (of which there wasn't much) it was hard to make things taste flavorful. There was a few slices of tomato and vegetables on the side that helped keep things moist but once the dressing was gone it was pretty much just dry lettuce, cheese, and steak. The stressing part was that I finished eating around 12:45 and saw the waitress who I asked for the bill. 5, 10, 15 minutes went by with her coming by once or twice (neither time with the bill); ridiculous, so I had to go to the front to pay and barely made it back to my class on time (exactly at 1:15). I might come again and try something else when I have more time, but I think I'll likely just try to find that taco place. read more

I have been dining at El Guajillo for over 3 years and I must say I like the Norteña and Pollo Poblano, the last(and final) time I went I had the WORST experience! We were seated at the 8-person table near the fireplace. I was on my first piece of food and out of the corner of my eye I saw something crawling up the wall(just a foot or so away from me). I joked that it was a bug and when we looked, IT WAS A COCKROACH!! I could barely chew and swallow the bite in my mouth; not to mention, completely lost my appetite. Literally, the thought of eating anything was creeping me out. I called over one of the waitstaff and showed her. She grabbed a wad of napkins and reached by me and grabbed it, then disappeared with it without says a word I was with my parents and some friends, so I was trying my best not to let it ruin the meal. Ya! I tried to eat again but I was so grossed out, who knew if there was one in my food. About 5 minutes later the waitstaff girl came back with a quizzical look searching all over the area and said, laughing, "you'll never believe this, when I went to throw away the napkin, it was empty." Alright, NOW I REALLY could not deal with that anymore. I asked for the manager, and she said "no body was on charge at the moment". ( that was a lie!!! because the owners are always there cooking or waiting tables) and one of the buss staff told us that our waitress was the owner and she also mentioned all about how they DO NOT spray in a regular basis to keep the risk of pests down. Yah, that was really ruining my appetite. The waitress then asked one of the girls to box up our meal. Like I wanted it! NO THANK YOU! I had enough, so I saw the owner walking to the kitchen and GUESS WHAT!!!! She was recycling a basket of chips back in the chip warmer!!!!!!!!!!!!I my family, friends and I leave that place so disgusting about the whole experience. Terrible service, very slow. We had a great meal here! Started with the chicken taquitos. They were delicious I got Carnitas Enchiladas. This was something I asked for. The beans and rice that came with the meal were great. To be honest, we felt a little iffy about going here because of the reviews...but a friend recommended this restaurant to us so we decided to just gamble. We were not disappointed and are currently talking about going back tonight because everything was so great. The service was top! We had a great waiter who didn't hover but still made us feel taken care of. The Margaritas here are huge, yummy and won't cost you an arm and a leg in comparison to some other restaurants. The large Nachos really weren't THAT big but big enough. We also had the Taco salad, kids nachos, and kids quesadilla. The kids loved their meals and had 0% food waste if you know what I mean. Also the rice here is super good and I was bummed I didn't have my own portion (I had nachos). If you're looking for reasonably priced Mexican food that also tastes good, I'd definitely recommend this place! As a family of 5 we ate here for under $55 (with alcoholic beverages). read more

The El Guajillo Enchilada was really good. 4 stars. But we also ordered a Tostado Salad Deluxe and it showed up with no "crispy tortilla shell" and no salad dressing! So I got a styrofoam container full of dry lettuce and meat. When you pay all the delivery fees and tips, it is beyond disappointing when the restaurant doesn't deliver the food as described. I could have popped open a bag of dry lettuce here at home and saved myself the $12 salad fee and the $12 delivery fees. read more

Definitely far better food than other sit-down Mexican restaurants in the Tigard area. Food is fresh, not all Americanized and they have multiple tasty homemade salsas ranging from mild to hot! You just need to ask for it. Food is not full of beans, but they have beans on the side with a reasonable amount of protein in the main dishes. From burritos, chili rellenos to house specialties, this place offers some great authentic tastes with plenty of garlic and spices to make it interesting. Service is ok to good. This place....was weird. A sign on the front of the restaurant said "Pizza" and I was looking to get a pizza for my girlfriend who wasn't feeling well. I didn't want a chain pizza, so I looked for a pizza place. The place I -was- looking for said the address was here, so I stopped without looking at the name. Inside, I saw it was a Mexican restaurant. But the menu said they had pizza. It was very...weird. They have booths and menus and presumably wait staff, but they also have what looks like a deli counter with registers, which is where I made my order. The lady behind the counter seemed very confused by my order, which was just a large pizza with pepperoni and pineapple. Hard? She had to consult with someone in the kitchen, who came out and questioned me about it again. I repeated myself maybe five times. They got the idea and said it would be a little while. I took that time to go and look around the place. It was a full service restaurant (with no one in at 4 in the afternoon on a Friday), but in the back was what looked like a mini nightclub. A bar was there, that required the person to walk around the side of it to get behind it, and a little wood dance floor. The lady from the kitchen who questioned me on my pizza order came back, probably to make sure I didn't walk behind the bar and help myself. I got myself a Coors Light, which required here to unlock a cooler and take it out. Whatever. I drank that and then my pizza was ready. And honestly, it wasn't that bad. I've had much, much worse, but it was a pretty decent pizza. The box even had that fat happy smiling Italian dude on it holding a pizza. There was a lot of cheese, you could taste the pepperoni and pineapple very well (it wasn't mush), and the crust was sort of a pizza-hut original style crust. I was seriously surprised. It just seems like the place doesn't have much focus. And it wasn't good enough for me to go back for it. So...there you go. read more

Updated: Sad to say the food has become just awful and the service has gone downhill. My family and I went recently and the food was bland, even the salsa served with the chips was bland. We added salt, pepper and hot sauce just to get flavor. The food was also served room temperature, not hot. We went a second time thinking maybe the kitchen was just having an off day. Unfortunately we had the same awful experience and the server brought us the wrong beers. To add insult to the whole experience, we later discovered in looking at our visa charges online that the staff added more to the tip after we signed the slip. We won't be going back. read more

We've been here a number of times and was, by far, the worst visit thus far. We waited for about 20 min before getting our drink order and then another 10-15 minutes before placing our order. So after an hour of waiting we FINALLY got our food. It wasn't worth the wait. If we hadn't ordered, we would have left. Best Mexican restaurant in Tigard! I love there Agua Chile! & there molcajete is our family favorite it taste great and has a good amount of food for two! There ambiente is great! There tables and decor is beautiful, really authentic and there customer service is amazing! Definitely a place to stop by if you want delicious authentic Mexican food! Ohh & I almost forgot! Ordered the Molcajete de mariscos. First ingredient listed was: CRAB. I chose it based on that. When it arrived, it had 0 crab and a massive overload of shrimp. I asked her where the crab was and she just said "sorry, we were out so we gave you more shrimp." The was overflowing with shrimp, which, if I wanted a bowl of shrimp for dinner, would have been fine, but I did not (which is why I didn't order a bowl of shrimp). She did not offer to reduce the price or offer a replacement. I left 90% of the meal at the table. I have no problem with a restaurant being out of a main ingredient - that happens. Why the restaurant employees don't have the integrity or sense to tell the customer before they make the meal so the customer can decide whether to order something else is beyond me. Prior to ordering the subpar meal I was given, I considered ordering a different meal and adding crab to that meal. If I had done that, she would have told me they were out. Instead, she withheld the information and hoped I wouldn't notice. Will not eat there again. That is really shady business practices for no reason. read more

Came here for lunch with a group. Very good. From the outside, the building is a bit off-putting what bars on the windows and all. But inside you will find good food and good service. For a fairly large group, all orders were handled correctly. All food hit the table plus/minus a couple of minutes. All checks were correct. Everyone agreed that the food is tasty and. I liked the mole sauce. The portions are good. The restaurant and the menu are family-friendly. Vegetarian options are available. Would give -10/10 do not recommend this restaurant, the service was horrible and we had to wait for 35 to 40 minutes for the food, it was cold and the meat was like leather unbreakable and it wasn't that good my carne Asada was mostly burnt and my father's fajitas were all cold definitely will not go back!. Horrible service no one came by to refill the drinks. Once our food was served no one came by to ask us if the food was okay or if we needed anything else. Wow! I stand corrected! Our previous visits were within the first months they were open, and while those early visits left me unimpressed, tonight was awesome! The decor and ambiance is completely different and super welcoming and comfortable. The service was phenomenal! Truly the most attentive and helpful service I've had in many months. We were a large group, and at least half of us special-ordered. Everything was served exactly as we had requested. The gracious staff was friendly, funny, and great with the kids. But, most importantly, the food was really, really good. I don't remember their previous chips and salsa but tonight's was awesome with fresh cilantro. Every person at our table loved their meal! If you're looking for a quick lunch for yourself, El Guajillo might suffice. But if you're looking to dine in with anyone, best skip this place. The layout is very scattered and cluttered - giving it the feel of a take-out place that also has a handful of tables to dine in. The booths are a bit low, making eating at the table awkward. There's also multiple entrances, though only one is clearly marked and monitored. We ordered some simple tacos and enchiladas - and neither was too impressive. I could think of at least five other Mexican spots that were much tastier. The prices are about normal and the service was generally pretty good. With that said, we were told that we couldn't use a Father's Day coupon due to it expiring - even though the expiration date was clearly two months away and Father's Day hadn't even arrived yet! When we pointed out the server's error, she shrugged and acted like she was doing us a favor by applying it. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more
