Love this fast food concept for this super authentic Mexican restaurant. With the drive thru or walk up available (and open late) this has quickly become a favorite for me and my family. The prices are responsible and the quality is fresh and delicious. I usually order tacos. They come with 2 corn tortillas and spicy salsa. I normally get the lengua and pastor meats. I also love the queso. It comes slightly spicy so keep that in mind. Service is great. Sometimes I come and there is a long line of cars waiting and it usually doesn't take long to get your food. I saw a line at this spot when I was looking for another place and was intrigued. It's a drive-thru in a restaurant plaza and they have a menu like a typical drive thru but you pull forward to place your order. I initially went into the pick up line instead of the order line but quickly corrected my error. I ordered a Barbacoa taco and Torta; as well as a spicy pork taco. The tacos came with onion, cilantro and lime on the side. After placing my order I pulled into the pick up line and waited about 6 minutes for my order to be brought to me. I brought my food home and was excited by what I saw and ready to eat. The Barbacoa taco was okay 2.5. The meat was greasy and tasted like they fried it because it was crispy. I was expecting a more tender piece of beef that tasted like it was slow cooked for hours. The Torta was okay (3.5). The bread was delicious and fresh but the toppings and meat were meh. Not as fresh as the bread. The spicy pork taco was delicious(4). I did add a little salt and it made it the best dish of the night. How sad that I always come to this place and today. Was the day I notice that I no longer will be supporting this place! I came in today order my food as always and right after I order a police officer comes in and order his food! Which was double my order and it just so happens that his food comes out before mine! I'm so sad I found this place as I was moving out of this area but I'm glad I was able to experience it. I've lived one mile from this gem for almost five years and discovered it a week before I moved 30mi south. This place has everything you could ask for.. low prices, great food, fresh everything and it's so small that you're unable to stay long. There's a tiny eating area connected and it's only useful on a warm day. The prices are more than affordable and the condiments are fresh and cut daily. I've had the chorizo, chicken and steak quesadillas and they tasted like heaven. I can't tell you which one I like the best but I can say they're all 10/10 stars for sure! I was being extremely lazy today and wanted tacos but only a drive-thru so I visited here. It's a very small place so it's easy to miss. I pulled up to the drive-thru and the lady at the register seemed rushed because I was trying to look more at the menu. After you order, you give your money at the windows and they tell you to drive to the other side to pick up the food. They do have an option to sit in but it's really small so this would not be a place for a group. I ordered horchata and carne asada tacos. I was extremely disappointed in the horchata. It was very watered down and barely any flavor. The tacos were a decent size but they didn't have much flavor to them as well. Y'all. The flavors that I just experienced. The freshness, the authenticity, the quality!! I ordered the Torta de la casa and 2 barbacoa tacos thinking the Torta won't be that big at a price point of $7. Boy was I wrong. I had no business ordering the tacos and couldn't finish it all but I'm glad I tried the barbacoa taco. It was like pot roast on a taco - the meat was so tender and flavorful. The Torta was definitely the highlight for me but another reviewer was right - it would be nice if they would cut it in half to make it easier to eat. That was only a minor inconvenience because it was so delicious. I will be returning way too often and so glad I gave this place a shot! This is literally a hole in a wall. At first glance you will be like WTF? This place has been here for years and their fresh food is the reason why its still existing. Their menu is simple but that is what makes this place special. They don't get overwhelmed with a crap load of items on their menu where they can serve it right up and fresh. To me this is the best place for tortas. The only thing that I don't like about the tortas is the melted cheese that they use but other than that they are amazing. They are not greasy like other places and their milanesa is cooked fresh. The food is cheap but it's good. I get a torta, 2 tacos and drink and pay $10. Some tips to this hole in the middle of a parking lot: 1. Place your orders at the window. As soon as you enter the sitting area there is a window on your right. A lady will come up and will take your order. 2. They are limited on English but they can understand it. 3. You pay after you are done eating. They take credit cards or debit cards. 4. The whole time I was ordering the lady seemed rushed and to top it off they forgot to give us our drinks. The menu is very simple. Tacos are a bit more pricey than Don Pedro. Portions weren't what we expected. Steak nachos was as simple as the name. Tortilla chips, chopped steak, & a white cheese sauce. The steak was flavored to perfection. But the portion was incredibly small. Definitely wasn't what I had hoped for. Chicken burrito was just lettuce, sour cream, & chicken that was breaded, fried, & shredded. It was so dry & had more lettuce than chicken. I would've been better off going to Taco Bell for a chicken burrito. El Grill's $3.75 vs. Taco Bell's $1.29 What a huge disappointment... Chicken Torta was a pretty average size. But the chicken in it was the same. Bland, dry, hard to get pass. Hot Salsa was not like salsa! No spice to it at all & all I could taste was watered down tomatoes...like something out of a can..just bad. Steak Nachos - 2 stars Chicken Burrito - 2 stars Chicken Torta - 2 stars Hot Salsa - 1 star While the food could have been better, service wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best. I have passed this place off jimmy carter for a long while. Being from San Diego I love authentic mexican food.....so i have been very picky and just make my own at home. Because this place LOOKS LIKE WHAT WE CALL A TACO SHOP IN CA! I decided to stop. WOW!!! YUM! YUM! I ordered 2 taco barbocoa 1 asada steak taco and they were so HOT AND DELICIOUS! THE REAL DEAL. I've been going here for over 10 years, and they've always had THE BEST tortas... It's legit Mexican food and always super good. Of course it's a little shack that's pretty old and mostly just for drive-thru, but the food is the best. I always get tortas de milanesa and horchata (although for over a month they haven't had it, and I'm afraid maybe they don't make horchata anymore?). The bread is better, meat is, and I'm pretty sure they put beans on the sandwich which no one else does. Whatever it is they do differently, they should keep doing it. read more

My first exposure to Mexican cuisine began in a Michigan taco bell circa 1979 after a morning of roller skating. Little did I know that it would take 4 decades to finally reach the taco mountaintop. And at the top of the mountain is El grill. Everything about each of their tacos is perfect. This place is a cute little joint that sells great mexican food - the authentic kind. They have awesome tacos, the kind that come as homemade corn tortillas, shreaded carne asada (steak), chicken or pork, minced onion and cilatro - thats it. That simple little taco is sooooo good. I heard they have really good burritos too - haven't tried those yet, but I've had the quesadilla - really good too. This place sits in the middle of a parking lot in a large plaza thats on Jimmy Carter Blvd and faces Singleton Rd- its not hard to miss. They sell tortas too (mexican sandwich) which are very tasty too. This place gets really packed at lunchtime. I usually drive through their little drive through and wait about 10 minutes while they prepare everything. They only except cash so make sure you have some handy before you go. read more

Lol Despite the outward appearance I am SO GLAD I ate here! The food was delicious! I got asada nachos. They came with beans, cheese, fresh avacado, lettuce, and steak. the cheeae dip was amazing! They do have a drive through and a very small covered patio area w/ 4 tables! At ate on the patio. You walk up to a window and place your order and in about 4 min they open the window to let you know your food is done. It caught me off guard they didn't ask for payment before we ate.
