Dad had a racecar shop, which was added on sometime in about 1969, just past the original tire shop, and a large tire yard behind a 6-ft wood fence. That is where Dad kept my horse, Big Red, a very tall, very old sorrel gelding. My pet goat Becky was there with him to keep him company. It was common to pull into the business parking lot and see Red's giant head resting on top of the fence, and Becky standing on a pile of tires, right beside him.. I actually used to ride him in the big fields full of milk thistle (his favorite snack) which were just beyond the shop., where McHenry turned into flat farmland and emptiness. The last time I was there, I barely recognized the area, but there was that familiar sign. In reading the reviews, I see McCoy's is still going strong with the new ownership, who are still providing the best tires and service in town, just like in the old days!

Within 15 minutes it was down nine psi. My friend and I started looking online for tire shop recommendations, but it was nearly 5 PM on Saturday so... Most were closing soon. Luckily, Golden State Tires was open and able to help us. It was a pretty great experience, considering what a headache it could've been. We were in and out of the tire place in about 15 minutes and only down $20 for the patch. We had to drive all the way back to Watsonville that night to get ready for an early friends Thanksgiving dinner the next day, so... we really really really appreciated the ease. Rim on new car got scratched up on a curb in a drive through coffee place. Bummer. I didn't get it…read morefixed but I wanted to praise some high-quality customer service. Phone service is great. They give you the option of texting photos of the damage. I did and got a long-written response from Charlie, but he wanted to follow up with a phone call. Based on my damage Charlie could not fix it, and he explained in detail why he couldn't. He then told me about two shops that could help but explained the fixing process of one of the shops which was local and what to expect. The shop that could do the complete job is in Sacramento. I will contact them. I learned stuff that I hadn't even thought about! I really appreciated the time Charlie took to explain my dilemma. You don't find many shop owners that go out of there way like Charlie, especially knowing that he could not fix it. He could have just told me, "I can't fix that, sorry" and left it at that. Great to see pride of ownership like that.
