This rating is strictly on my experience with El Gallo Giro. This week I ordered online 2, 96 OZ carriers of Champurrado and a Rosca. When I went to pick up the carriers, they felt really light and one of them felt even lighter than the other. When I asked the ladies at the front if they were sure it was a full 96 OZ, they looked at me like I was crazy and said yes. One of the girls even turned the two carriers over, uncovered them and looked inside and said " Yes they both look full". I got home and poured the liquid into a measured container, only to find out that I was right, one of them was 2 Quarts, when it should be 3 and the other was less than that. I drove all the way back to the place to complain that they had short changed me. I think what bothered me the most is that I asked them to confirm that I had received my full order and they looked at me like I was crazy, or trying to get something free. To rectify the issue, they offered me 3 additional carriers and i told them I only needed one to complete my full order. I wasn't trying to get anything for free, but it leads me to believe " How long have they been short changing their clients. Lets talk the bread.....The bread is one of the best in the valley. It's always soft, fresh and hot. I can't write this without acknowledging that they offer one of the best in the valley. Their food on the other hand, is lacking and they have people that can't really cook or serve a decent item. I had their Pozole, it was all soup, barely any hominy or meat. When I complained, the girl stuck her spoon in the Pozole to confirm that I was right. She added more hominy and meat and sent me on my way. Why would I have to complain? Are you not seeing what you're serving? I ordered Tamales; they were 85% Masa and 15% meat....my mom would be turning in her grave. I saw a woman just dousing a poor piece of bistek with oil, can't imagine eating it with all that grease. I like this place, but only for the bread and a cup of coffee or champurrado....the rest is not something I would ever order again. Haven't tried the food here but as a bakery, this place has great selection! Would highly recommend the bolillos for their amazing value - 3 for $1. I stopped by to pick up some bread on a random weekday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all. Parking lot was empty as well, so easy to park. Everything was organized nicely inside and it was very clean. I was really here for the bolillos as I had heard about the amazing value, but out of curiosity I tried a variety of other baked goods as well. Of all the sweet pastries I got, the concha (small round bun) and the oreja feite (similar to palmiers) were my favorite. I would skip the croissant like pastry (bigote danes) and the item that looked like roll cake. The bolillos were okay, but you can't beat the price. I don't know how they can get away with charging only $1 for 3 of them. They're pretty massive too! My family and I used them for the next couple days in our breakfast sandwich and they were good for that. They offer some other foods here as well and seem to specialize in tortas and tacos. Would love to come back and try their food sometime! read more

I love, love, love El Gallo Giro for their tamales. Not only do they have tamales, their tamales are delicious. They're fluffy and always have a good amount of stuffing! Also, they sometimes have ones made with oja de platano which are so hard to find so being able to find them + be delicious is so great. They also have so much more like tortas, aguas frescas, and pan dulces. Everyone is always so sweet so I love stopping by. read more

I woke up craving for the Guava & Cheese Strudel from this place Of course I have to obey the craving! So I went and get the strudels (can't get just one!). When I was there, I couldn't fight the craving for their burrito bowl! This time I got it with Al Pastor and it was so satisfying! Although, I have to admit, the grilled chicken is still my favorite. The cook behind the grill, was a pretty girl; Kenya. She was clearly very skilled in prepping all the ingredients and handled the grill & cooked all the Tortas for other customers, also cooking mine. She packed my bowl full to the top! Thanks Kenya! This store/ location is THE BEST, comparing to other two locations I've been to. It maybe older, smaller, but one would feel the warmth and the good homey vibe here! At least I feel that way! I won't even try to check other location anymore... because, whyyyyy?? read more

OK visit. But not as competitive as in the past. Service - usually was OK. But less OK this time. There were two people at the cash register , but only one helped. The other person ignored us (and the few people that came behind us, so the line grew ) Food , overall OK. Torta and tacos. Horchata is still solid. (The one gallon horchata is $25!) Price. We know prices have increased a lot at fast food , but compared to the quality - price doesn't justify. read more
