What a fun and challenging course! If you like playing amongst the trees, you'll find yourself surrounded by plenty here! The good thing is they mostly aren't the kind of trees where your disc will easily get stuck in them, but you will find yourself continually "tree-nied" if you don't carefully place your shot. I managed to hit trees on almost every hole, but the trees are tall and mighty so no damage done by my discs o' plastic. On the front nine, it's not easy to get a good drive because of all the trees, but on the back nine, you can let 'em rip. I like that the concrete launch pads are good and wide. It was a little difficult to navigate at times, especially on the back nine. One of the holes (I think it was 12) had no marking post at all and just some faint paint on a path for the launching pad. It was the only hole without a launchpad. We met a really friendly local who saw us wandering around and handed us a map of the course. Very cool!! We were there at 7:30 AM on a Wednesday. There were a few groups playing but not many. I'd imagine it could get pretty crowded as the day goes on. The eighteenth hole basket was surrounded by a big puddle of water so we skipped the putt on that one. No biggie, I would have probably missed my putt anyway! Great way to spend a day with old friends, suntanning and getting lost around the 11th hole. This is a really fun way to spend part of your weekend day, and it takes MUCH less time than real golf, maybe us it to work off lunch, or after spending the day at the beach. I've never really played before but I picked it up about half way through (when I finally got by first Par!). There are some really good people here, but everyone is having a blast and it's a great way to catch up with friends or get to know new ones. And getting lost between the "baskets" (aka holes) is actually really entertaining. Luckily the regulars here are quick to spot you wandering the wrong direction and always go us back 'on course'. ;-) read more

This place has been a favorite since I arrived in LA a few months ago - from what I hear, it has one of the best disc-golf courses in the area. It's a par 3 course (although no one in our group is yet to consistently make that a reality) and each hole has been a little bit different every time I have played due to the 3 different placement options for each one. It's quite a challenging course as there are lots of trees along the throwing path, which has provided endless entertainment for our less-than-perfect team. It does get a little busy at the weekend, so sometimes we'll start on hole 9 to get away from the crowds and then loop back afterwards. El Dorado Park is where I go when I want to have some out door fun without spending a whole lot of money. All you need is a disc and if you don't have one, you can buy one inside the Pro Shop over by the tennis courts. I was hooked on frisbee golf from the moment I threw my first disc at Morley Field in San Diego. So, I was stoked to find that I had a disc golf course in my area and it was free to play! This free course is better than some paid courses I've played. It's a full 18 hole course with alternate basket placements. There's grass, which is usually in pretty good shape and lots of trees. The low tree canopy make this a pretty cool technical course for most. It also has a few long distance holes where you can really air out some drives. They even have two practice baskets... Could you ask for more without being a whiny tool? I submit that you can not! read more

Quick Update... - Hole # 3 no longer has a mandatory. It also is now missing a tree that the city of Long Beach removed within the past 2 weeks. These two things now make birdying the hole much, much easier. read more

It's a free course for frisbee golf in Long Beach, where you can meet other people with similar interests and get some exercise while having fun! If this is not enough for you, seek therapy! I must admit: the course signs are NOT self explanatory. So just go with the flow and as a group decide which bucket you want to aim for. And when you come back for your second visit to this park- NO, your memory is not playing tricks on you. They actually do move the buckets at this park. The front 9 is populated with a lot of trees in your way, and it's not a nuisance, it's part of the game- to figure out how to circumnavigate them. Frisbee golf is more popular than I'd imagine. Many groups of players are here every time I've been. And I've been here about 20 times. Pro-tip: Go here to see the world's most fearless squirrels. Seriously. No need to sneak up on them to get closer. After having survived all the frisbees impacting their trees, they fear nothing! read more

The first hole's pad is not labelled. Luckily someone was there to tell me it was the first hole. The first 9 holes are not labeled, so a few of them are confusing as to which one you should aim for. The mando markers are also tough to see. I left after hole 11 because some dumb oaf and a group of 10 guys were taking forever on each hole. Additionally, this guy couldn't go more than 2 homes without yelling at someone and trying to pick a fight. The course layout wasn't bad, but everything else was. The setting for this disc golf course is great. Outdoors, hazards like trees & people and a very cool group of local disc'ers who seem to always be there. 18 holes all par 3. Pro shop (next to tennis courts) is small but very friendly workers. I usually get a snickers & I'm out. If you have questions ask one of the locals (who seem to be there every day all times of the day =). The course is self explanatory and hole 1 starts directly across from the pro shop. As you are walking up toward the pro shop, the tee for #1 is to your right and you will be throwing towards the library. Follow the signs from there. Love this place. I'm a big time outdoors guy, and I love to disc golf. The course is layed out well, plenty of trees, and they keep the place clean. On the weekends it can be a bit crowded, but everyone is normally very cool about taking time to throw. Beginners are always welcome, and I believe they sell discs at the tennis shop. The best part, it doesn't cost a dime to play. Please just remember to pick up your trash, and don't smoke in the park. Enjoy! read more

This course gets a 4 star for natural beauty, but only a 3 star for the disc. Playing through a forest of huge mature trees, the course is full of low ceiling shots which add to the difficulty. This is a great course to come & practice rollers or just to learn in the first place. The course is a little longer than average, with alternate basket placements on each hole. Although you wouldn't think you could get in trouble without much elevation or water, the low hanging trees cut down your drives which can leave you long upshots to save par. I would recommend this course if you're in the area, but it can't compete with La Mirada, lake Casitas or some of the other giants in the area. read more

Great, wide open disc golf course.

Course Established: 1981 Grassy course laid out on pleasant parkland with large ash trees. Good tees & signs. Multiple pin locations and they are good about changing them. The course is next to the library. Parking lot is adjacent to hole #1. 8 holes under 300 ft., 9 holes from 300 to 400 ft. 1 hole over 400 ft. Each hole is a par 3. Course Length: 5590 (Copied from the So Cal DGA Website) This is my home course and I love the length of it most of all. A few short baskets or possible aces, but mostly big long drives are neccessary. Hole #12 is extremely long, close to 500 ft. sometimes. I have thrown an ace on #3 and #11. Rollers are favorable on #7 and #8. Trees can make the course tricky. The locals are generally friendly. There are a few elevation changes, but I would like to have more for a five star and there is some traffic noise. Discs and lights are available at the Tennis Center. If you haven't played disc golf, go buy a couple discs and give it a shot. It's not as easy as it looks. If you're experienced, grab a disc with a little undercandy and get a little hyzer on it for a possible ace. read more

For a free course this one is nice. The lay out changes weekly, each hole has three pin locations so the course is always different. The locals do a good job of keeping the course clean, and some of them even do landscaping and repainting of the baskets. read more

Went and played 18 with a friend today, and had a great time. Folks were friendly and there weren't too many people. We did play on a weekday, so I can't attest to weekends. The holes were marked and nicely designed, although it was somewhat counter-intuitive to find some of the tees. The professional shop (next to the tennis courts) has free course maps. This was my buddy's first time and a great course for it. Not too many trees, etcetera. Again, it was a fine course, although a little dusty. I would give it a 3 if I were in northern Cal, but down here it's above par. read more

Awesomeness! Huge disc park and never feel rushed! I am not great, but this place allows me to practice and hopefully get there someday. Once you play one round the holes become easier to spot. The trees are an obstacle, but that is a challenge I love! One downer is the muddy dirt that can be trap holes if you are not paying attention. read more

This place is great! It's a fun course for any level, which is why it's probably always crowded. Good open holes to warm you up before the get more precise and tight. Lots of people willing to help and teach if you're new or just looking to improve your game. This place rocks, and I am used to playing La Mirada and Huntington. I like mixing it up and coming here, the shots are awesome! I love the way the course is set up, trees abundant on this course and I am all about that! Sometimes it can be busy with park goers and disc golfers but I'd say it is worth it. GREAT course. Free to play. Challenging, low hanging trees. Fearless squirrels. Friendly disc golfers in abundance. Baskets moved weekly. Only downside, sometimes the moved baskets make for a MUCH longer course, so it's hard to compare scores from week to week. I'm not good enough to care. FYI they sell discs in the tennis pro shop, and the locals are super friendly - they'll show you around the first time or two until you know the layout. It's basically clockwise from the library, but there are a couple of confusing double-backs. Just watch the group in front of you, or ask, everybody's friendly. read more

One of my favorite local courses. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for just a couple of small beefs. The park rangers took away the bench at hole 7, and sometimes you get interference by park visitors that are blissfully unaware they are in the middle of a golf course, lol. They have regular tournaments here which I recommend regardless of what level you're at. Eldorado Park itself is almost as large as NYC Central Park with plenty to do if you bring the whole crew. They have duck ponds (plural), paddle-boat rentals, a private police academy shooting range, a model airplane / helicopter range, a regular golf course, a nature center with a museum and nature trails, an archery range (used in the 1984 Olympics), dozens of miles of bike trails including the attached riverbed, tennis courts, and even a library which is right by hole 1 of the disc golf course (so, yes, park at the library). There are often large birds on the course which ads to the scenery. There are several hawks, blue heron, egrets, white crowned night herons, and sometimes even seagulls. The reason for so many birds is that the park is infested with gofers, which if you're lucky, you'll see being gobbled up by a heron. The hawks tend to swoop down on the squirrels especially around holes 2 through 7. The park rangers are merciless, so be discrete with your brews, weed, and cigs. read more
