Good, real good! All the sauces were amazing including the salsa. We had the el diammante, a tamale and a fajita salad. My only complaint is the chicken was like the frozen chicken that is rib meat and pressed. The fajita salad didn't have onion, peppers, etc. The tamale was one of the best I have ever had and the chili sauce tasted like mole. Rice and beans were rice and beans. Nothing special. read more

Recommended by the lady working out at Wegner, we stopped in for dinner on taco tuesday, 1$ hard shell tacos!! My husband orders that as well as the chicken chimi meal, I had the bacon cheeseburger, which was also recommended. The service was good, and the place was pretty much full. The burger was obviously made fresh there, they are char-grilled which I dislike, however for anyone who does like that then it was an amazing burger!! My husband loved his, but the tacos could've used some flavor. Who would've thought that this small town would be serving some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! We stopped in Mount Ida for a day on our way to Kansas City from Houston and this restaurant was one of the few options we had in the area. We really did not have any expectations from this place but walking into the restaurant, we were quite pleasantly surprised! The ambiance and decor of this restaurant was just so friendly and pleasing to the eye! And our server was very friendly and accommodating. I got the carne asada and was overwhelmed by the portion of the food for the price that I paid for it. The food lasted me for three meals! For dessert, we shared a plate of sopapillas that really elevated the whole experience because it was that good. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. read more

We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was here. I usually get tacos de carne asada, as they did not have any specifically I got the Mariachi Plate, which was beef fajita tacos, they were excellent! My fiancé got the chicken fajitas which he said were very good. The service was very attentive and friendly. We would definitely recommend this place. Whenever I come out to Mt.Ida area for crystal digging I have to stop at El Diamanté to eat. Best Mexican food and nice friendly service!

Dude!! This place is da' bomb! I came in from Fort Worth for a lake vacation and we were too tired to cook tonight. Being from Mexican Food heaven, I didn't expect much. I WAS WRONG!!! Their salsa could make it in Texas! They were busy and the food took a little while but our glasses and salsa were never empty. The food came out correct and hot. The portions were HUGE. The fajitas were awesome, both beef and chicken. The enchiladas were good. Skip the beef taco, but otherwise A+! El Diamanté is the place to eat in Mount Ida. Who would think a small Mexican joint in little Mount Ida would be so good. We live in Houston and have our share of Mexican food to choose from daily, but we really enjoy El D when we are in Mount Ida during the summer time. My favorite dish is Burrito Uno with beef. The staff are very friendly and it is always a great experience. read more

Great place to enjoy a Mexican meal. Food excellent. I had green pepper stuffed with cheese. Good cheese dip. Tamales excellent. Everything we ordered was good. No complains. It's clean, the staff is friendly and the beef fajitas were some of the best I've had...marinated steak was tender and favorable while the veggies were grilled perfectly. just now First time to this restaurant, we are from out of state (from Houston, TX) and extremely disappointed!!! I am a server and have been a server for years, and if we as servers or our host ever greeted guests/customers they we were greeted today.... we would have been terminated immediately. Your restaurant CLOSES at 2 pm, NOT 1:50 pm. We walked in after being on the road since 8 am and wanted to grab a bite to eat!! We are greeted as we walk in with the host saying "I'm sorry we close in ten minutes, if you know what you want, you can give me order now and we can get it started for you!! Ya don't EVER turn customers away, just because you close in 10 minutes. As I mentioned I have been a server for several years and we've had people walk in 2 minutes before we close; we're they turned away.... NO THEY WERE SERVED as normal! They werent rush in anyway!! As the owner, this is not good business and you need to serve the public up to the second you close!! Poor judgment on your host!! I have family in this town and I will be back in this town, but your restaurant will not get my business!!! read more

Ordered iced tea and enchiladas, the tea was hotter than the enchiladas. Probably not at safe serving temperature. Chips and salsa brought to table late. When waitress asked if ok and I told her no response. I would think with only two tables to wait on and only five people in the restaurant service would of been better. I brought food home so not total waste of money, hope dog does not get sick eating it. I should of just not paid and left the enchiladas. I would definitely not eat here, it was good several years ago, but not anymore. Worth driving to hot springs, at least food could of been as hot as the ice tea. Had eight cubes of ice in hot tea. The restaurant was recommended to us by some local folks and true to their word the fajitas were great. Service was very fast and attentive. The fajitas for two bested our own Houston restaurants. Hubby was extremely pleased. Chips were hot, queso had perfect consistency, tortillas were thin and steaming hot. The fajita plate had tender shrimp, beef, chicken, and sausage. What an unexpected wonderful experience! The daily special was $5.99 including drinks. It was the equivalent of chicken fajitas and queso over rice. We needed a to go box. The flavor of the queso and cheese with an abundance of white meat chicken was superb.Also the restrooms were extremely clean. The wait staff although very busy, were excellent and friendly. I have been to many Mexican restaurants. This one is a 5 star for sure!! The seating is beautiful carved and painted.

Love the grilled chicken breast plate. Can get my queso fix with grilled veggies and a salad.

Finally a Great Chili Relleno, west of Hot Springs! YAY! I had the Chili Relleno platter and another day, a taco platter. Lots of great food to get around on their platters:) Fast, friendly service and reasonably priced. Sundays after church... crowded and noisy which is to be expected in a tight, small place.
