Looking for night life in Madrid? Well would you think to look for it in a department store? Huh???? Yep! El Corte Ingles is hopping... a gastronomic/ cocktail feast for all senses! Octopus tacos? Yep! Iberian sandwiches? Check! Sangria with olives? Si si! Seriously, I don't know about you but after a rough day of shopping, touring, working etc you need a serious cocktail to wind down! Life on Calle Gran Via is hectic thus El Corte Ingles is happy to help! Just take elevator to 9th floor and voila your in Madrid Disneyland.. so many options of different bars, cocterias and cafes. You can also purchase epicurean delights such as vino, olives, torrone, you name it. Also, you can see eye popping views of Gran Via!

El Corte Inglés is one of my favorite stores in the planet. I was excited to return to Spain and visit this place after many years. They have a wonderful selection of everything - from appliances and groceries, to white-label fast fashion and toys. Anything you need they have it here. I was excited to find a great Playmobil selection here. Much better than I have ever seen at US department store. I was also pleased to see that prices appeared to be reasonable on most items here despite its central (and somewhat touristy) location. I also discovered a new (to me) Spanish brand from Galicia call El Pulpo. I wanted to buy everything from their section in the Young Mens fashion floor. Its was really great stuff. A young saleswoman named Noelia was very helpful in finding my sizes. I only wish they sold it in the America If you are visiting Madrid, stop in this store. It may be strange to visit a department store while you are visiting a foreign country but this location is something to behold. It is also where the Spanish shop (when they are not shopping on amazon) so it is somewhat authentic too!

Head to the top floor and enjoy a cafeteria style lunch with amazing views of Madrid. Grab a wheel cart to take your around the food court and pick out your selections . I had a salad ( you pick your base and 6 ingredients) - it was light and delicious. My son chose the sushi - pretty good choice. Great casual lunch with magnificent views of beautiful Madrid. Recommend!

Located next to the plaza Del sol this huge department store nine floors up and down gives you a huge amount of shopping but prices are definitely on the high side. Top floor restaurants makes it very nice to absorb the sun and fresh air while dining on one of many dining options.

Spain's version of a one stop shop. There are plenty of El Corte Ingles around the Madrid area that we stayed. They are very large and about 3x the size of a typical department store. It's as if a grocery store, best buy, food court, and department store had a small baby. I had fun walking around and browsing, and ended up on the top floor at this particular location to get an amazing view of the Madrid skyline. There are not many tall buildings in the city centre that we stayed so this was a fun way to see a lot of what we had walked and toured day after day. Ate lunch here overlooking the view and purchased a few gourmet food items to take back to the USA. Def somewhere I would pop into if you were visiting Madrid on vacation.

Delicious tapas and only three euros apiece.

My favorite store in Spain! They have EVERYTHING one would need for the house including groceries! How great is that? The quality is excellent. I wish I lived in Spain so I could shop here all the time. The store on Plaza de Callao near the Sol metro station was the best I visited in Spain. They have a book store, a pharmacy, clothes etc. but on the top floor, I believe it was the 6th floor, is like a food court but not fast food. There is a terrace there and you can view the city of Madrid. It really is quite spectacular! They even have a charcuterie! If you are in Madrid you must go there and if you don't do anything else go to the top floor and walk around. It's amazing. I love it.

Nice location. I got a suit on sale for $50!! I'd compare this place to Macy's or Nordstrom.

Good Department store. This is a good place to purchase turrones (local sweets) to take home as gifts.

Great store! It's a Macy's upstairs and Kroger's in the basement. Stopped at several as we traveled around Spain.

The intimate or lingerie department had beautiful and high quality lines as well as designs made in Spain at reasonable prices. The extended return policy also helps if not trying on items in the store or in a hurry. Their stores are multi levels food and grocery items in the lower level, perfumes shoes, handbags electronics on second, women's, men's etc. don't know how many of you will relate but back in the day "Burdines" which is now known as Macy's only had Restaurants in their stores and La Corte Inglés has a wonderful restaurant that brought back memories. Didn't want to give away my age but it's like saying I'm from the era of whoolworth's, Tom McCann Shoes, tube TV's, cellular phones were a brick and Wordstar was the it program lol! I definitely recommend you visit La Corte Inglés for the experience. Their window displays are like the old fashioned ones. The decorations throughout the entire store was impressive. If you can visit late November to mid December you will be blown away. Hasta luego,

The primary flagship store for the chain is located in Madrid at 79, Raimundo Fernández Villaverde Street. It encompasses several buildings and carries the most comprehensive collection of designers of any large store in Spain. I briefly coaxed Gayle into one building of the Madrid Complex sometime during the evening before Día de la Hispanidad. El Corte Inglés was also close to the Hotel, so why not? I don't recall what I was looking for, but I remember the entire place to be packed with people. We walked and shopped around, but left relatively quickly. After all, we didn't come to Spain to spend too much time in a large equivalent of Macy's. And as Gayle and I later traveled through Bilboa, San Sebastian, Girona, or Barcelona, there was a El Corte Inglés around just in case we changed our mind. Yet, there's a grocery store in the basement and one always needs wine and nibbles on the road......

You can find pretty much everything you are looking for and there's always some new store every time I go. You can find restaurants, cafes, huge variety of clothes/shoe stores, cinema theater and much more! It's usually very alive and crowded during winter but it can get a bit quite during the summer. I love the fact that I can find all of my favorite stores here. Outside the mall there's other stores such as Media markt, Ikea, other furniture stores and a big supermarket. It's 20/30 min away from Madrid center but totally worth the trip! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR TOURISTS! You can get there by bus or by subway (which is like a 10 min walk from there). I would recommend to go by bus since it stops right outside the mall but the subway works as well! For those of you getting there by car: 3h free indoor parking or outdoor parking (unlimited free hours). The architecture is stunning, you will love it!!
