This is a huge department store, said to be the largest in Europe. It was founded in 1904 and has many branches. The basement has a gourmet market as well as some fancy restaurants. Service is helpful. You can find lots of gift items. I got some olives from the olive section. I asked the woman which ones to get and she explained which were especially from Madrid. They were good. There are so many fancy items, and there were sales, too.

This review is basically for the supermarket downstairs. It's huge where you can buy regular groceries, prepared food, desserts, gourmet food. Staff is friendly and helpful.

One of the best shopping centers in Madrid! You will love this place because of every little thing, good parking area, nice entrance by car, near of the metro station, placed in the center of the city, great shop collections, new fashion design and nice smell inside!

Wow. This is the biggest grocery store I've ever seen abroad. It's amazing. How amazing? Let's put it this way- I found ingredients to make tacos. Mexican food, in Europe. For those who haven't been around the world, that's basically the equivalent of finding the grail. Oh, and did I mention it's merely the *basement* floor of this mega department store?

A huge department store to do all your shopping at. They sell everything. The vat refund counter is always understaffed. Line is long.

I've…read morebeen in this store (in Madrid and Barcelona) a hundred times but have never dared to try anything on, first, because of the price tag. Yup, it's pricey. Second reason might have more to do with me than with them. I was cut from a friendly cloth and I've worked retail for many years and so I'm critical of the cool and aloof customer service approach. It just bums me out, and sometimes it intimidates me enough so that I don't try on things that I might otherwise buy, if it fits me right, even if it's expensive, You just never know. And, seriously, iciness, in general, is not good for business- that's just common sense. Ok, I'm off my soapbox now. I'll continue with reason three for not trying on/purchasing at Hoss and that's because the clothes are so damn beautiful, delicate, original, chic, sophisticated. AgghHH!!! Sometimes it's just too much going in there because I want everything, it overwhelms, and you know that old saying "All dressed up and nowhere to go" ? That's me. Well, at least for the moment. However, people do get dressed up here more than in the States, in general, at least. People seem to take more pride in their appearance on this side of the pond. Hence, this classy store. The clothes are just stunning. You can find elegant party and cocktail dresses, wedding dresses, work wear, play wear, hip lounging and drinking wear. And, the shoes and the purses and jewelry and accessories.... please!! go in, it's all good. I had a very nice experience at the Fuencarral location this afternoon. The salesperson at the door said hello to me AND smiled. I almost fell over. This was a first for me at Hoss, and my immediate response was to grab the first thing I like and try it on. And she followed me to the dressing room and tended to my requests and gave me her opinion and it was all so beautiful. Really, it just flowed. And, to make matters even more magical- my size fit me- all the way around. Length too, even for my short little american legs. I'm not kidding! The price tag reflects the impeccable fit of the clothing in this store and that, for me, makes shopping most worthwhile. Of course, when the wallet permits.

I bought a beautiful creamy long dress that was recommended to me by a very attentive salesperson, who was not sales-y at all. I am addicted to this store. I am a glutton for punishment…read more I also really want to give it another star, because I think the clothes are very stylish, hip, beautiful, cute, fashion forward, etc....and the quality is better than most of the other women's clothing stores (at this price level) in Spain. The leather products: shoes, boots, purses, belts, accessories, are way cool. The quality is good, but not stellar. You will walk into the store and slowly but surely become overwhelmed by all of the eye candy. Then, you will start to sift around for your size and then you will happily make a b-line for the dressing room. You close the curtain, and that's when the trouble begins. You will try on that blouse or skirt or dress in the size that you've worn your entire adult life but are now realizing that the upper part of that blouse sleeve will start cutting off your circulation within a few minutes and that that waist cut is not going to go up any further than your thighs. It is very disappointing. You flash to the anorexic models on the Hakei website and catalogue, you are reminded of the hungry and unhappy looking girls who work there, and you will realize that the only way you will be able to fit properly into the vast majority of this brand's clothing line is if you cut back to eating half a sandwich and smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Ok. I may be exaggerating some. In the past year, I've bought numerous pairs of shoes and boots, belts and some blouses. And I am happy with my purchases. But, it's a roll of the dice when it comes to the clothing, really. Unless you are built like a small boy, you are going to be let down many times. And unless you have money to burn, you will quickly realize that the quality does not match the price.

Trips to España aren't complete without flying home with a new pair of espadrilles. Casa Hernanz…read morewas on my to do list for Madrid. I happily stumbled upon them while on a walking tour with my bff. I was at best, only marginally interested in the tour as the guide wasn't able to hold my attention (Hemingway was right on the money with "I drink to make other people more interesting" as maybe had I had a drink he wouldn't have bored me to pieces within the first 2min) so I spent most of it wandering off and exploring nearby because the entire point of a walking tour is to actually walk while learning fun new things. For instance, I learned where this shop was without directions. I walked right in and there were several people inside but no queue upon my arrival. They have so many options, but being petite I typically rarely if ever wear flats unless they are my tennis shoes. I tried on a few different pairs and sizes since I'm typically a 36 or 37 depending on the style of shoe. A couple color options weren't available in my size but I did find a really nice neutral brown I can pair with plenty. Service was great! My pair cost 25 euro which I felt was extremely reasonable. I only fly with hand luggage which definitely helps limit my spending due to space. Trust me when I say you'll want more than one pair! There's very little I love more than supporting a small buisness with incredible products. The store feels really special, very pleased with my experience. Grateful to have visited and HIGHLY recommend for any Madrid itinerary.

The shoes seem a little more expensive, but everything has gone up in price. Be realistic - know what type of shoes you would wear, what your price point is, and what you like. If you live in a warm climate these shoes are perfect. The store can be overwhelming because there are alot of options, but please do not waste their time. The girl next to me had them bring out 10 pairs of shoes to only buy 1 pair.
