Wonderful assortment of baked goods- and by the looks of the glass display cases, this place gets hit pretty hard! 10 or so tables inside, a sofa, and a comfortable, not-hurried atmosphere. Several regulars walked in and chatted, which is a great sign. I ordered a breakfast crepe and coffee, son ordered a lunch sandwich bagel, and we split a cinnamon sugar danish- which was fantastic! The crepe- if you are a crepe connoisseur- was of the pancake-ish variety. Like a big flapjack, with egg, sausage, gouda, and avacado. Good! But as I eat more crepes, little did I know of the variety of crepes. Now you know. Son's bagel sandwich was solid, coffee was strong, and the danish- made up of twisted strands in a coil- was yes, fantastic! Looks like awesome stuff comes out of this little bakery. Apparently they have a very short growing season and they're quite expensive to purchase. They are delicious and oh, this pie did not disappoint! The fruit filling was plentiful and the berries were whole, not mushy or overcooked. Absolutely wonderful ! I generally dislike pie crust but this was a great crust, tasted good and even better, golden brown and completely cooked underneath! This charming little French bakery is just off Market St on E High Street. We could only find…read moremetered parking on the street. Even the parking lot behind the building had meters. So that's a bit inconvenient; however, for quick pick up I suppose most could make a quick stop and run to the bakery and hurry back for the pickup. There are fresh pastries on the wheeled racks as well as chilled ones behind the glass display. We had some Cream Cheese Turnovers and we loved it. It's not too sweet and the flaky pastry and the creamy cheese really go together nicely. We also had the Caribbean Cake and Lemon Lavender Cake from the chilled selections. The flavor of the Caribbean Cake was too dominated by the cream of coconut (with shavings), overwhelming the mango passion compote, but was still very nice both in terms of texture and taste. The Lemon Lavender Cake, on the other hand, was just meh for us. The only thing we liked about it was the tanginess. Texture-wise it was neither fluffy (bottom layer portion being the cake layer) nor creamy (upper few layers), just curd overall. And we had to spit out the slice of lemon used as garnish. The Rhubarb Tart (w/ strawberry compote, almond cream, and mascarpone cream) was sold out on our visit, making us very curious. Hopefully we get to try that next time we're in town.

I get the tuna melt every single time, and listen... their tuna is unreal. Perfectly seasoned, not too mayo-heavy, toasted just right it's basically my emotional support lunch at this point. I also never skip the seasonal drink special. Today's was the apple chai-der and it was so cozy and delicious. Their drink specials always feel like you're sipping the current season through a mug. Zig's also has an entire cooler/freezer wall packed with soups, applesauce, and grab-and-go meals. My all-time favorite soup is the Tomato Pepper Jack absolutely phenomenal. If you see it, grab two. Trust me. The bakery case? Dangerous. Cupcakes, pies, whoopie pies, parfaits... it's basically dessert heaven behind glass. And then there's my holy grail: the Buffalo Cauliflower. It's a rare find, and when I spot it I buy it in full apocalypse-prep quantities. No regrets. Between the rustic vibe, great coffee, incredible baked goods, and comfort-food lunches, Zig's is one of those places you keep coming back to because it just feels good and tastes even better. My husband ate almost the entire shepherds pie by himself...he was hungry and it's good. I just finished eating a chocolate mint cupcake that was so tasty. Their chocolate croissants are fabulous as well. Service was friendly and speedy yesterday. I was there at 4pm so I have found they are less busy at that time of day when I want to buy things to take home. If I lived closer to Zig's I would probably be there more often, but as it is, I am still thankful it's only a 30 minute drive from my home.
