A visit to El Chotis is always satisfying. I've been here several times and it has never disappointed. The food and service are always on point. In the past, I e had the caldo gallego, boquerones en vinagre, manchego cheese and Serrano ham, croquetas de bacalao, callos a la madrileña, and pulso a la gallega. All are great appetizers/tapas. This time around we tried the calamares al limón and the pimientos de piquillo de bacalao. Wow... delicious. Add that to the list. I especially enjoyed the pimientos de piquillos because the bacalao was very tasty. Normally, for the main course I go with the jarrete de cordero. It never fails. But because the bacalao was so good, I decided to try the bacalao fresco con guiso de garbanzos. I got it with a side of white rice and avocado. Everything was perfect. I would recommend this dish. FYI, they have free valet parking.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Firstly, the restaurant that we were supposed to go was closed. I immediately took to Yelp and was guided here by the amazing reviews. Like I initially said, maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Not that it was bad but I wasn't blown away and for the prices charged, definitely not impressed. The location is a bit in the cut/back street. They do have valet and when we pulled up they asked if we had reservations, which we didn't, but it was nice they accommodated us. Service was really good and Our server was very engaging. He even mentioned that celebrities frequent this restaurant and it was one of the best in the island. So now I am fully excited and looking forward to an epic meal. I ordered the skirt steak with fries and my niece ordered the filet with rice and beans. We also ordered the cod fish croquettes and the ham and cheese tapas. I really enjoyed the Serrano ham, but how can you not?! The croquettes were ok. Now to the steaks, they were cooked a bit under and I faintly heard the cow moo. The fries were home made but they weren't seasoned. I did taste the rice and beans and they were good, but I can get good rice and beans and any local place for far less. Nevertheless, in hindsight, I should've opted for the risotto or the octopus. For $160 for 2 entrees, 2 tapas, and 2 glasses of house wine, is quite steep especially when I wasn't impressed. I really enjoyed the avocado salad, though, the saving grace of the table. Maybe I'll try them again when I return, and maybe not!

The manchego flan was amazing. It was the best I've ever had. I loved it. The fideuá for one is a lot. It is enough for two people. Also, it takes about 40 minutes to prepare. My advise is to order them first. The same goes with the paella.

Great food, great service, great environment, highly recommend. They even have a menu in Mandarin, hand written by a guest:)

Delicious food and excellent service. Very small and cozy place, although the volume can make conversations a hassle. I've been a few times already and everything has been delicious.

We arrived at 11am on a Monday because that's when we thought they opened. They actually opened at 11:30am, so we were 2nd in line at 11am. Once 11:30am rolled around, the line was very long. It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria. When we left, there was a very long line outside. Despite the line, they did not rush us out. Definitely recommend and would go out of my way to come back next time I'm in PR.

Keepin' it a buck! Eating here is like eating the ultimate home-cooked Puerto Rican meal…read more Rating places in Puerto Rico is tough. There are so many spots that are authentic and incredible, but La Casita Blanca stands out in its own lane. It's gotten more popular and touristy over the years, but that's because they've stayed true to who they are. The authenticity here hasn't changed, and that's exactly why people keep coming. This is the kind of place where the menu brings you right back to your upbringing. You'll find dishes like corned beef, tostones con bacalao, and other classics that just hit differently. And the vibe? It feels like family. Someone who looks like your aunt might be cooking your food, your cousin might be serving it, and everyone treats you like you belong there. Food-wise, everything we had was fire. One of the people I was with is basically an "aguacateologist," and even he said it was one of the best he's ever had. That alone says a lot. Chuletas fried to a perfect golden crisp. The pollo fricasé (pollo guisado, if you know, you know) was on point and even came in a little pot that made it feel extra homey. Arroz con gandules? Off the hook!!!! And to top it all off, they had salsa playing in the background... which honestly had me sold the moment I walked in. Disclaimer/Warning; There will be a line!!! And if you're lucky enough to get a table, sit back and enjoy every second of it.

Beautiful restaurant with outstanding, creative dishes…read more My husband and I ordered one app and two entrees. The portions were very large, and we would have been fine with just two menu items! To start, we had the roasted eggplant, lamb 'picadillo', date sofrito, 'Feliche' yogurt. Really delicious and probably best for sharing among 3-4 people as it's a bit heavy given the lamb. Nevertheless, it was really good and we finished it! For entrees, we tried the (1) rice with rabbit, sweet plantain in its leaf and the (2) breaded pork loin, mushroom cream, cherokee tomatoes from San Lorenzo, tostones. Our server was super excited when we ordered the rice with rabbit and I understand why. It was insanely flavorful. Also a massive portion haha. We really enjoyed this. The pork loin was delicious as well, especially with the mushroom cream. Plantains are one of my favorite foods, and these tostones did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's a nice mix of modern decor with homey, vintage elements. There is a very large outdoor space, but I'm really glad we ate inside. Definitely recommend - especially for a group that likes to share!

The restaurant is spacious with colorful and expressive art all over the walls. You're hearing Latin music in the background there's a large bar in the left corner. The menu is big, there's so much that you would want to try so go with the big party. Your offered three different styles of plant proteins when you order your traditional dish. We had the Pasteles, Mofongo, ALcapurria and Sorullitos. Everything came out hot and fresh. The Mofongo was out of this world. And I make Mofongo. The Alcapurria was delicious of Smith's first time having it. The portions are large enough to share. Or have leftovers. You are so lucky to meet the owner. The super friendly gentleman he gave us the backstory of why he started this restaurant. Changing his diet helped him recover from cancer. And it was about the way he ate. So he wanted to share this opportunity with meat eaters. So the whole goal of his restaurant is vegan food for meat eater so they can see that they are not missing anything. The owner also is a famous DJ. He has a talk show radio. And he's been doing it since the 70s. It was a lovely experience my Bestie found this restaurant for me. Because I'm a vegan/sometimes pescatarian. I don't get to try all the foods. It was such a lovely experience.
