Stuck in Willits overnight with vehicle issues. Ate dinner here night one. Outdoor seating with roof and patio heaters. Food came quick, very hot, big servings and all tasted great! Next day for lunch, we ended up here again due to logistics and weather. Again, quick service, good food, plentiful servings. Wait staff was awesome both visits. Was fortunate enough to pass on the under renovation McDonalds to find this spot right down the road on our drive to Ft. Bragg. Post covid service was excellent! Fresh chips served with a variety of salsas to start. Ordered the carne asada fries and a couple pastor tacos to share. Food came out promptly and the carne asada fries were served on a hot plate. All of it was high quality and delicious. Portions were good, especially considering the more than reasonable pricing. Finished off the meal with hot and fresh churros that we had to try given the reviews. Overall, very satisfying lunch stop and a place we can visit again when driving through. read more

Absolutely the best Tortilla Chicken soup I've ever had! Tons of chicken in a tasty broth topped with sour cream and avocado slices (also included a side of Mexican rice to add to the soup as desired) along with a cheese quesadilla and I was in culinary heaven!!! This was the perfect meal on a very cold night sitting outside on the patio next to an outdoor heater (indoor dining was not allowed because of the Coronavirus). The employees at El Chicano again are very nice and attentive! The food is excellent -- juevos rancheros, various salsas, eggs, crunchy hash browns, plump tamales, perfect nachos, Mexican hot chocolate, coffee, et cetera!!! The coffee and Mexican hot chocolate are served in beautiful mugs on top a napkin on top a little plate and with a tiny stirring spoon. Chips are served upon arrival with a little cups of beans and salsa, and are replenished if desired. The pork tamal we ordered was perfect with the right amount of masa and a generous amount of perfectly thick chunks of pork. The green salsa on top was incredible!! The over-medium eggs were great! The hash browns were perfectly crunchy!! Their prices are wonderful !! Thank you!!! This is our third visit this summer. My husband and I stopped in while traveling. Authentic Mexican food! We had the enchiladas Rojas & suites, both cooked to perfection.

The service was Super quick and friendly. The whole place has great atmosphere and really yummy food. Highly recommend. It's worth pulling off 101 for a quick sit down meal. We are locals and were having our oil changed on our car near by. We have always driven past this business since it opened. We decided to walk down there and check out the menu. They had just opened at 10:00 a.m. so we were the first to enter. The menu was extensive and we considered eating there until we walked around to find a table. All of the tables were dirty from the day before and that was a real "turn off". We ended up leaving and going to another Mexican restaurant and discovered a new great place to eat. Perhaps we just hit this place on a bad day, and I see good reviews on it. This business definitely needs to clean up the place each evening at closing or get it cleaned up before opening in the morning. read more

The food is good here. And when the whole country was on lockdown,they provided a nice patio to eat outside and have a beer. My review is solely on service. In hopes that the owner sees this and can try their best to find some help. I understand we are in a time,where finding reliable help is very difficult. However, I watched this business suffer today while waiting for my food. There is only 2 boys working the FOH. A busser/food runner would have SAVED them. But these two boys are taking tables inside and outside, answering phones,making margaritas, exchanging money and are expected to clean tables in between. This is absurd and the business suffered greatly bc of it. The people were nonstop. The phones were nonstop. People were seating themselves at dirty tables. People were obviously upset. I'm a regular and have been in the restaurant business,so I'm forgiving and I'll be back. But some of those people I saw today,will not be back. And it's a shame bc the food is good. The boys that are struggling to hold it together, ARE GOOD. But they desperately need help. I hope the new owner sees this review and hires new help,or starts helping themselves. It's not fair to those two boys working their butts off. Remember...new business owners don't get days off! They should be present everyday to help out WHEREVER needed. Ok first of to start this lil jewel. My girlfriend, and I ordered 5 min till closing which is awesome that they even took the time to write the ticket. so I was expecting something kinda half done or something like that. boy was I wrong!!!! the pazole I ordered was out of this world hands down the best god dammmm pazole I ever consumed in my entire friggin life, not only did it come the soup itself they added all the good garnishes plus rice, and what not. We finished our meal at 6:35 and we waited until 7:05 for him to take our plates and give us our bill. My wife finally got him to give our bill. This restaurant has a great selection and generally good food, but I stopped coming here for a couple of reasons: 1) The ventilation or air circulation doesn't seem to work all that well. I always end up smelling like a greasy, smoky restaurant when I leave. 2) My shrimp is undercooked EVERY single time. I have to send it back to cook it more thoroughly because it's still raw in the middle. The last time, I just took my unfinished shrimp home and finished cooking it there. I could always order something else, but the shrimp plates are my favorite dishes. read more
