Authentic is real. Everyone goes here for sure. Very busy joint, cafeteria-style. You line up to order and pay, and they bring out to you. And they had pozole! Hard to find anywhere. Based on the reviews on yelp, we decide to stop as we were driving through. We're so glad we did! That's exactly what we were looking for. Wonderful affordable authentic Mexican cuisine. We ordered the chimichanga, the Carnitas, the taco plate, the guacamole and the enchiladas. The chips and guacamole is the best! Everyone was equally thrilled with a taste and freshness of the food. The food is good, and priced reasonably. Never had issues with it being cold or disgusting. Just make sure to double check if you have everything in case you do take out. The girls who cash you out and answer the phone suck though. Horrible service and could take a couple of courses on professionalism. Best Mexican food we've had in years You know you're at the right place when you can get pozole *and* menudo and it's a weekday. Our family of four ordered a bunch of food - enchiladas, tacos, and quesadillas - with a mix of carne asada and carnitas. If it had been just me I would have ordered the lengua...but we were sharing. Some agua fresca, Jarritos, and Topo Chico washed it all down. Truly amazing food and at delightfully low prices. If you happen to be driving through town and are getting that craving for authentic Mexican food after seeing the various establishments along the road, look no further, you just found taco (that's what we were craving) heaven! The tacos are super cheap ($1.50), are served on fresh corn or flour tortillas, have a self serve sauce and toppings bar, and come packed with delicious meat options. I went with the pork, chicken, and steak tacos and was absolutely delighted. I was also lured into an order of a sope after seeing another customer get one and it was fantastic. The menu has plenty of amazing looking entrees as well, but we came, we saw the tacos, and we conquered them :) The service was very friendly and there is also a case of baked goods for dessert that somehow i managed to avoid this trip...maybe next time! I've eaten here about 3 times when passing through Arcadia, it's a great place to stop when you are driving through from Siesta Key or Venice back to Orlando. I've had the Barbacoa Burrito which was a bit too soupy for my taste, They always have a huge thing of Horchata(sweet white rice drink) for you to serve yourself from. I've also had the enchiladas with Mole sauce a few times those are good. The salsa bar is boss with a good variety of dips and toppings but sometimes their chips are homemade and not very good. Since relocating to PG from the Chicago area, we've been struggling to find good taqueria/street style Mexican food in the area. We found it in Arcadia at El Charro Authentic and it's definitely worth the drive. Sure, we've tried the sit down Mexican joints in PG and PC, but who wants to pay $13-15 a plate for mostly rice and beans? We enjoy sampling different menu items and various meats. They have grilled steak, pastor, barbacoa and seafood too. It's a restaurant, bakery and convenience store all in one. All the food is the highest quality and freshly prepared just behind the counter. They have a salsa bar loaded with several fresh salsas, onions, carrots, radishes, limes, cilantro, etc. They have an awesome selection of cold Mexican bottled beer as well as Horchata out of the fountain. El Charro is the most authentic Mexican food in Arcadia (there's about 15 Mexican restaurants in Arcadia so that's saying something) I've tried most things on their menu and the tacos are simply the greatest. You can actually see the employees making the fresh corn tortillas and it really adds to the overall experience. I recommend going on Tuesday for their "Taco Tuesday" special. If you're thinking about going to another restaurant for a quick bite then shame on you! Who raised you? Get your head in the taco game and eat at Charro and you can thank me for the amazing recommendation by picking up my check when you see me in line waiting to order. I'm a tall, goofy lookin' feller.
