And the choices we had were near empty pans with not very appealing items. Fried pork steak was ok. The baked chicken had a horrible super salty seasoning. The soup was passable. Ribeye is the best steak offered! Service is always fast and attentive. Never had a bad experience. The atmosphere is very welcoming and serves as a nice place to fill your belly. This place needs a good cleaning. Service was good. Salad bar was very messy. Giant chunks of onion as well as large chunks of cucumber. Each container had parts of other containers contents in it. Really needed to be addressed. Nothing special on there. The cheese was mozzarella instead of usual cheddar. I paid 10.00 for one trip to the salad bar. This is our first time eating here. The diner it a little dated but not so much for this area. The table we sat at wobbled. The staff was friendly and inviting but the menus were in need of replacements - three people ate and all 3 menus were torn. The sodas were bad - cannot figure if it was the soda or the ice. They have a lounge and I think the sodas came off the tap and if that is the case they may need to either clean the lines or check the CO2 ratio (or both). They had a salad bar - nice addition to your meal for $2 or $2.25 (depending on what you ordered). The salad bar had plenty to choose from but the veggies were cut like they were to be on a veggie tray (dipping size) verse salad size. They had baby carrots out there/tomatoes cut into wedges/green peppers in 1/4 and cut again. Now they were all fresh but large! The 3 of us all ordered something different - the chicken & pasta/cheeseburger/fish sandwich - all three came out in a great portion size - the meals came out hot! Which is a huge plus in my book! And came out made to order. The food was a good 4 out of 5. Dessert - only had a choice of 2 items - we chose the triple chocolate Cheesecake - 5 out of 5! Very good! Very rich! Now the only other thing that I wasn't hip on was the silverware came in a wax bag and there wasn't napkins but a roll of paper towels on the table. I am all about cost savings but not what I was expecting. The pricing of the food as on point - average pricing $6.50-$25 per sandwich/dinner - keep in mind it's a seafood and steak restaurant. It's kid friendly and as mentioned above it has a lounge - separate from dining area. We did not go in. I liked this place but not some place I would want to eat at weekly - maybe monthly. read more

We had the steak and fried shrimp. An excellent cut of meat, while the shrimp was lightly battered. This is a rural Florida roadhouse of the top order. The interior decorations are panned in some reviews, but in truth they are exactly what goes here. Good service, very good food, happy clientele- what more do ya need . We were driving from Daytona to Fort Myers Beach on highway 17. It was time to eat and we noticed this restaurant with a crowded parking lot in the city of Arcadia. Since this is cattle country and the name of the restaurant was Reef and Beef we thought we would stop in. It definitely is not fancy. They could use some new seats and booths and major sprucing up of the decor. In fact, they should gut the place and totally remodel. That being said the food and service were phenomenal. Other than the premises, everything far exceeded our expectations. For $20.95 we ordered the 14 ounce ribeye with the Texas fries as a side. They allowed us to substitute a vegetable for the salad bar. The salad bar had very fresh and crisp greens, ripe tomatoes, fresh or pickled cucumbers (we loved the pickled ones), peppers, eggs, etc. the steak was phenomenal, on par with a fancy / expensive steak house! It was cooked to perfection and was tender and juicy. It was seasoned perfectly. I assume the beef was local since we were in cattle county. The Texas fries were hand cut and fried to perfection. This was such a deal! We took a chance on a shrimp dinner, since this was inland (but only less than an hour from the coast). We received a large portion of perfectly fried shrimp. The shrimp were large and hand battered. The coating was very thin, so you could really taste the delicious shrimp. Another point, is that the shrimp were not butterflied, which is a plus in my book. This was better than any shrimp I have had at any Florida coast restaurant. Go figure. So, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The service was excellent, as well. A superb value. The only compromise is the atmosphere. I regret I didn't get a picture of the salad, steak, or shrimp. read more

Really wanted to try the steaks here after seeing a couple pictures of great looking steaks on face book....Well I now believe those pictures must have been jacked from another restaurant that actually knows how to cook a steak and the facebook post was false advertisement. I ordered the 10oz sirloin cooked medium with roasted potatoes... and what I got was a very unevenly cooked steak from well done to a cool rare with a side of deep fried small potatoes...... We found the Reef & Beef because we have camping property in Arcadia. We don't live there, so your mileage may vary. They do a big lunch trade, and they serve good food. Think ... Fred Flintstone and the car that topples. All this is in the restaurant in the front. But it is just the warm up for the honky tonk in the back. Big ol' rustic place. Full liquor bar. Pool tables. Stage, but no chicken wire. Always entertaining. Big, big crowds on Friday and Saturday night. You know that scene in "An Officer & A Gentleman" where Paula and Lynette get dolled up in the car on their way from work to the dance? Yup, seen it there in the parking lot. It's like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. One trip, the four of us guys were drinking quietly when two couples sat down at the next table. The two girls were drinking 'blow job' shots with no hands, and we applauded. One thing led to another, and soon we got an invitation to come back to their house to party. And a discount on our dry cleaning. Another trip, the 70 something year old bar maid came to take our drink orders. We all order normal drinks - beer, Crown & Coke, Makers Mark - until we get to our baby faced buddy. He orders an Amaretto & Coke. Without missing a beat, the bar maid looks at him and says "oh, you're MY bitch tonight. I get off at 1:00, bring him back then." I was driving an Explorer that night. Our Sunday School class of about 20 visited this restaurant for dinner. It was great!! Wonderful service, large facility that could have held twice our size. They offered a full menu, A large salad bar and a variety of tasty sounding dishes in addition to succulent desserts. We had the fried shrimp which was terrific!!
