I had a beef milanesa at this place when I visited El Paso, TX in November 2013. Yes, that's right! Almost 12 years ago! I had the worse milanesa EVER! It had no flavor. I guess besides being a lack of seasoning the cook did not bother adding a pinch of salt. In other words, the milanesa tasted like a sheet of paper. This place is such a little hidden gem. Only our second time here, but both times we've had excellent service and the food was scrumptious. The complimentary salsas that you get with the chips were spicy, but edible (unless you don't eat spicy--- then don't try them ). Restaurant is clean and comfortable. El Paso - Typical of Mexican 'fast-food' restaurants in this area. Lots of carbs (tortillas, beans, rice, etc) and cheese with every meal. I had the steak and combo (whatever it was on the menu that cost over $10.) for dinner. The "steak" was about 3 millmeters (ok, maybe 4) thick, of some kind of Beef (or not), that was as TOUGH as a vulcanized goodyear tire! (and that is tough). And then there was the issue that it seemed like the guy in the kitchen dropped an entire container of salt on that "steak". I have never had a piece of beef that was as tough and so tasteless that the "chef" had to SALT this as if he was salting a road covered in ICE. DO...NOT...GO...HERE !!! DO NOT GO HERE !!! read more

While in Rome do as the Romans right, the surroundings had all the pizza and burger joints you find in every city then I found this place. Service is great, atmosphere is welcoming, clean establishment. I ordered Fish & Shrimp Soup came with a side of rice and toasted buttered roll, Awesome! I give it 4 stars. The burritos were huge. The service was great my waitress name was Cantiana ( hope thats right) she was great, very courteous and nice. I would say ask for her but she is on her way to college so good luck to her. But all in all it was a good place to eat you will leave satisfied. Have been going to this place for years because it is convenient to Fort Bliss. Food is ok and priced well. The waitstaff is great. As of today, I will not be returning. The owner who is the cashier is very rude and disrespectful to her employees. It's upsetting to see someone treat employees in that way in front of customers. I will not continue to patronize this woman as she is a horrible employer. read more

Stopped by here since it was right next to our hotel. I ordered the fish special which ended up being a soup for starter then a plate with tilapia, Mexican rice,baked potato, salad (just lettuce and tomato) and bread. Service was great! Food came out quickly! My hubs loved his dish which was the tampiquena chicken and my kids loved their cheese burgers! I was ok with mine. I got the shrimp cocktail and it was just ok to me. Shrimp was good but I've never had celery in any cocktails I've ever ordered. Which made the sauce taste different... Kind of too ketchupy. Strip mall location, appears to have a loyal fan base. It's difficult to create a niche in the Mexican market in El Paso but this place is trying and isn't half bad. The most flavorful thing here was Albondigas soup....the broth had just the right amount of salt with melt in your mouth vegetables, perfect meatballs, huge portion and served with a side of tasty Spanish rice. This, I could eat all day. We opted for the tacos, we wanted to try the Gorditas but the server said they had a lot of masa. The ground beef in the tacos had a nice seasoning with the cumin not to strong. Unfortunately, the shells were grease soaked and had a bitterness of old grease. Still, we scoped out the meat, mixed with the rice and salsa and it was yummy. The server was friendly but the woman at the register...well she may have been happy once...maybe. Smile, look your paying customer in the eye, thank them for their business. It's simple. We wish them the best but no real reason to return. read more

My mom kept raving about this place which she's visited several times before. When i visited from out of town, we had to go. I was very pleased with the look of the place, clean, colorful, ample parking... The food tasted homemade to me, the beef 'caldo' was rich, meaty and served hot with tortillas. I had green enchiladas and they were cheesy and delicious. The prices were unbeatable and the service great. We did have to wait a bit for our check, but that was the only glitch in an otherwise very pleasant, satisfying visit. read more

Wonderful meal and service. I had the pork canitas and an ice tea. Food was quick and authentic. On the menu they had an item called Winnie. I ask what it was and he brought me one on a plate to try. Yes, I'm from the mid-west. Once I saw it, it was a wiener variant as in hotdog. The reason I bring this up is to show how engaging the server was and helpful. Price was very reasonable. Locally owned and definitely recommend for a good meal. This is not Outback Steakhouse. I'm not a fan of national franchises. So have a local expectation and you will be rewarded. read more

The owner was super rude since we walked in. Two of our orders came out wrong. Barbacoa tasted like fish. The owner yanked the plate out of my hand when I tried to explain what was wrong with it, even though I offered to take the other plate that was sent back so they wouldn't have to make a new plate. She came back and yelled in my face asking why I didn't want to eat it and that there was nothing wrong with it. I would have rather had Taco Bell! The food was very under seasoned. I had the #10 Chaparral Combination Plate. The steak which was a thin slice of round steak, flank or skirt steak would have been better, not a lot of sauce on the enchilada and little to no flavor, the chile relleno was soggy and again needed more seasoning, everything but the beans and rice need at least needed some salt. The guacamole was nothing more than a small slice of avocado. The service, beans and rice were the only things that were not a complete disappointment. I do not recommend. read more

Everything started pretty well. Restaurant located in strip center. Nice location, good parking. Upon entry, it is nicely decorated and very clean. Our waiter was very courteous. Chips were brought to our table with both a red and green salsa. Both very good and hot. Impressive menu, had quite a bit to offer. After we ordered, we were brought a small bowl of soup. Soup was very good. My mother and I placed our orders. The waiter brought me the wrong order. I had ordered the mexican plate, but he brought me the gordita plate. He insisted I had ordered it, which I had not. He returned to the kitchen and brought my mother's order. It was wrong. She had ordered shredded beef tacos but received tacos with ground beef instead. Waiter insisted it was shredded beef. We had to show him that it was not. He took the order back and returned with her shredded beef tacos. Tacos were dripping in grease. We don't mind greasy tacos, up to a point. These looked like they were dropped in a pan of grease. Even the lettuce and tomato in the tacos were covered in grease. There was just no way she could eat them. The hamburger meat in my taco also did not taste very good. It was not sauteed with anything. No onion, no spices, nothing. It had a slightly funny taste, but I imagine it must have been the oil since there wasn't anything in the meat. The flauta was small but had meat end to end, so that was nice. Also, that avacado and sour cream were fresh and not watered down. A nice surprise. The chile relleno was very good, but was a bit crunchy. Perhaps it wasn't on the fire long enough when it was roasted, if it was roasted at all. Also, once we had our drinks, the waiter did not ask us again if we wanted a refill until we were almost ready to leave. We had also ordered two glasses of water as soon as we arrived, and we never received our water. It wasn't like they were busy. There were only three other tables with customers at the time. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I just couldn't. I think they have a chance to be very good, but they definitely need to make some changes. The cook needs to pay more attention to the quality of the food he's putting out, the waiter needs to communicate better with the cook to assure the customers get the right orders out the first time. And it would be a big improvement if they could saute their meat. It's just a little thing, not time consuming or expensive, and could make a world of difference. I know my mother will never go back there again. If I do, it won't be soon. read more
