3.5 This is our favorite Mexican restaurant we have found at the lake so far. Chips, salsa and cheese dip are great. I had the house margarita and it wasn't my favorite. I might try one with better tequila next time. I had the quesadilla rellana with chicken and it was delicious. My husband had the carne asada tacos. I think we both liked the chicken better. They are clearly understaffed, but they were friendly and everyone was hustling.

The food was quick, very tasty, and reasonably priced. I have ate a lot of Tex-Mex over forty years and this was very good.

Amazing wait staff! We dined here for the first time on Cinco De Mayo! Even though they were packed and on a wait they got all of our orders right the first time. Our server was very friendly and accommodating to our party of 5! Food was fresh, hot and cheap for the portion sizes. The chips were super thin and crispy....I could've kept eating them. Will be back again!

tiny portion of dry tasteless rice for $4

Eh.. Used to be quite good. Prices nearly double here what they were 3 years ago. Thh pollo (chicken soup excellent). Was 7.95. now $13.99. Pretty hefty increase for Zarkian fare. Ambiance is zero tho. Ordered side of rice to go $4. you get 2 cents of tiny portion of tasteless rice. Like to see some improvement. Nice thing is they forced Tres Hombres to clean up and improve their quality which hit rock bottom 6 years ago and graduslly much better. I wish them no ill will. Just encourage them if going to double their price, pick up their game.

    $5.99 Sunday math specials.

A Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with people trying to get a good meal before they head back to Kansas City/St. Louis. Only one server, but the service was outstanding. Food was great and margaritas were exceptional. Prices for a Sunday, exceptional as well.

Carne asada was very bland. Enchiladas needed a little more sauce. Rice and beans were good. Friendly staff.

We eat there at least once a week. Fast service, great food. Pollo Loco is my favorite dinner. Margaritas are good.

We were in town for our annual family vacation with my in-laws and siblings, and Carmelita's is one of their favorite go-to spots. We went on a Tuesday evening around 6:30, and it was definitely busy, but we were able to get a table for 7 (1 child and 6 adults) within about 10-15 minutes, which was not a bad wait at all. The restaurant was very clean, and the service was quick and friendly. We started with the queso, which was so good I completely forgot to take a picture of it! My fiancé recommended that I try the Jiba Dinner, and I'm so glad I listened. It was surprisingly delicious, and I would absolutely order it again. I'm still not a huge fan of Mexican-style chicken, but the quality of the chicken was actually really good. I also appreciated that they were able to accommodate my gluten intolerance by swapping the flour tortillas for corn tortillas. I honestly can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm already looking forward to coming back to Carmelita's! It's definitely a new favorite for me.

I had the tropicana fajitas and had a couple bites of the jiba dinner. All were very delicious. Service was really quick. It felt very local and personal inside.
