The exterior looked inviting and the parking lot seemed adequately busy, so I noted to my husband that we would have to check it out soon. Several days later we brought our infant and a friend and were warmly greeted by staff who explained the ordering process and instantly made us feel welcomed. We didn't have to wait for seating but it's was nice to see a local business like this pretty busy with patrons. We had a hard time figuring out what we wanted (it honestly all looked good) but decided on brisket nachos, a pulled pork loaded potato and burnt ends with fries and baked beans. When I say everything we ate was phenomenal I mean it rivaled a lot of the major local spots that people flock to in KC for BBQ. I also loved the sauces and did feel the regular/spicy had enough of a variation to appeal to differing tastebuds (I'm a spicy fan and while it wasn't the hottest I've had it had some bite.) Despite some other reviews on here we felt the price was a great value - especially on the nachos and potato - for the amount of BBQ/food. The Mac and cheese we ordered for our daughter was also some of the best we've had out of the house and as a Texan I loved the flavor of the queso on the nachos. We have since returned many times and the service and food have been consistently good. We have brought friends and family each time who similarly rave about the food and good people serving it - and many have returned on their own without us. We also recently took the chance to try their (weekday morning) breakfast burritos after salivating over them on the menu...WOW is all I can say. Worth every penny - huge and had tons of flavor. My dad is quite the foodie and could not stop raving about them. I hope this business continues to have lots of success/growth and that they continue serving up good food here in the northland (and beyond, if they please.) Such a wonderful local spot!

We brought a group of 15 people, so we had plenty of opinions at the table. Unfortunately, not one person left particularly impressed. The brisket was overcooked, and the rest of the BBQ was seriously lacking in smoke flavor. They were already out of ribs at 11 a.m., but we were told they'd have more ready in about 30 minutes. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, ribs appeared -- but they tasted like they had taken a detour through an oven rather than a smoker. Naturally, being a BBQ-loving group, we had to investigate. We looked outside for the smoker and found it... but the smoke stack looked like it had been on vacation. There was virtually no smoke smell outside or inside, which probably explained a few things. I know BBQ can have an off day, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. I'll probably give them another shot sometime because I'd genuinely like to see what all the good reviews are about. I got the 'Mighty Meat' baos 2 of them and 1 Chick-a-licious Baos as a part of my combo meal. The mighty meat Baos were filled with slow braised shredded beef with spicy Korean barbecue sauce, and the Chicken Baos were flavorful packed with marinated lemongrass, grilled chicken. The baos were steamed fresh after ordering and packed with plenty of meat, layered with fresh toppings, creamy sauce, jalapeños, and kimchi. Every bite was full of flavor, and I enjoyed them so much equally that I'll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu. The lavender lemonade was another highlight freshly squeezed with half a lemon added right into the 32 is container. It's such a fun touch and makes the drink even more refreshing as you sip. The owners were really fun to chat with and told me that they have recently started the food truck and would love to venture into the Kansas side as soon as possible. They mentioned that they would be at the 'Kansas City dragon boat festival' in September, so definitely give them a call to confirm those details!! The individuals working the truck were nice but they were a bit unorganized-the iPad for payment was off, I was unable to get a receipt, I wasn't able to scan my app to get points, and I just had to guess/stand around for my food because they didn't seem to have a way to notify me that my order was up. I wasn't able quote five minutes and it was close to that amount of time. I like the lobster grilled cheese paired with the lobster bisque. The grilled cheese isn't huge but it is filling and they put a good amount of lobster in it. The bisque wasn't as good as I remembered it, it used to be richer and it seemed a little thinner than it was in the past. But it was still good with chunks of lobster. I've also had the lobster rolls and they are a little on the small side. They have a new lobster roll flight where you get to the all three varieties. And honestly, that's the way to go. You'll get the most bang for your buck and way more lobster than by getting just one. Overall, it's good and I like to visit them every now and then. They are on the pricey side for a food truck but it's lobster and we live in the landlocked Midwest so it is what it is. At first, I went to the wrong side of the truck because I didn't see anyone. I could hear people in the back, so I went around and asked, "Hey, did you guys close early or something?" The employee responded, "We didn't close early. We close at 7," and the way it was said came across as very rude and dismissive. I explained that the website showed they were open until 7:30 PM. He told me it didn't. I even asked if there was anything I could purchase since I had driven 30 minutes based on the hours posted online, and I was told no. I completely understand that employees have a closing time and that schedules can change. My issue is that the hours posted online said 7:30 PM, and I arrived before that time. I also have a photo of the truck timestamped at 7:12 PM, so I was clearly there before the posted closing time. I would have been much more understanding if someone had simply said, "Sorry, our actual closing time is 7 PM and the website hasn't been updated," or even apologized for the confusion. Instead, I felt like I was being treated as though I was at fault for following the hours provided by the business. Unfortunately, I left without getting to try the food, and the interaction left a really bad first impression. I hope the hours are corrected so other customers don't drive out there expecting to be served, only to find out the truck has already closed.

It is so awesome to be able to get a custom beverage and snack right in front of your office first thing in the morning. The convenience factor alone gives it 5 stars. That being said, even if it wasn't convenient I'd seek out this local gem. When I see the CoffeeCake truck around town I feel excitement build within me. Maybe it's the caffeine addiction talking but they serve up some of the best drinks to come out of a truck. I usually stick to a non-fat latte or a freshly brewed tea (hot or iced depending on the season) and my favorite coconut muffins! (For all you coconut haters, I'm glad you hate coconut because then there's still a muffin left for me by the time I get to the truck!) My coworkers favorites are the flat white, pablo, dirty chai, mocha, hot chocolate, and, of course, the infamous coffee cake. Service with a smile is an understatement. Nothing like an iced Americano (with soy milk, yay!!) to brighten these languid, humid days and CCKC's is perfect in flavor (nutty, strong, not bitter). I was too hot for a baked good, but I look forward to this option in the future. They look/smell divine!
