Food Great, Service Excellent Newly built restaurant very nice. I would highly recommend. El Cabrito

Insanely fast service at El Cabrito! We ordered and had our food at the table in less than 5 minutes. We were able to sit down, eat, and be back out the door in under 45 minutes without ever feeling rushed. The salsa tasted fresh and was really good. The queso was good too. Restaurant was clean. Definitely a good place to stop in Winona if you want a sit-down meal but don't have a ton of time. I was really impressed with how quickly they got our food out! read more

This was only our second week patronizing this restaurant, and unfortunately, it will be our last. While dining, a friend noticed bugs appearing around the rim of her drink. She immediately brought it to the attention of the manager, Jose, and showed him the napkin with the bugs on it. Jose admitted that the cup was dirty, but what we were showing him was not simply dirt -- it was bugs. Even after seeing the bugs and acknowledging that there was clearly a cleanliness issue with the cup, he refused to comp her meal or even remove the drink from the bill. Even if he personally chose to describe it as a dirty cup instead of bugs, a customer being served a contaminated or visibly unclean cup should have been taken seriously and handled appropriately. The interaction also left us feeling that our concerns were not treated with the same level of consideration that other customers might have received. As Black customers, we could not help but question whether the response would have been different had the complaint come from a White or Hispanic customer. Because of this experience, we will never patronize this restaurant again. We will also encourage school groups, churches, organizations, families, and friends to support the other Mexican restaurant and surrounding restaurants instead. Finding bugs around the rim of a drink was disturbing enough. Having the manager see the evidence, admit the cup was dirty, dismiss what we identified as bugs, and still refuse to make the situation right made the experience even worse. Given what we personally observed, we strongly encourage the local health department to inspect this establishment and ensure that its drinkware, food-service areas, and sanitation practices meet appropriate health and safety standards. Customers should be able to dine without worrying about bugs or unsanitary conditions. read more

Excellent service and very reasonable prices. I recommend the Tacos Al Pastor- the accompanying creamy sauce is subtle but delectable , and the flavoring for the pork ( even for a guy who much prefers chicken) is great too. Pollo fundido's has great sauces too, and the Agua de Horchata is great to wash it down with. Great people and love the decor in the new location . A genuine Mexican/southwestern gem nestled in our little patch of rural Mississippi read more

This is the most popular restaurant in Winona, MS. It's also the most reviewed restaurant in Winona, MS. It's for a reason too because it is a 5 star Mexican Restaurant. Great customer service and friendly staff along with delicious food is why. Anyway, I got their shrimp fajitas . It was delicious too. I got big portions too as I got so much food that I had to ask for to go box. I wanted to though because it was so I good that I wanted to save it for later. They took care of me while I was here too. They kept my sweet tea full while was here. They have a big menu here with a great big selection. Yes, you will be glad when come here just like I did. read more

This has to be the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The food was horrible. I ordered the quail, it was burnt to a crisp. Then I ordered the t-bone steak and fries. The fries were soggy, and the steak had zero seasoning. I asked for well done it was burnt on both sides. My wife ordered spinach dip they bought out some spinach soup, watered down. Don't waste your money cause they ain't cheap either. read more

The establishment definitely needs some updating. The service was okay but you can tell our waiter was in a hurry. The chips and queso tasted amazing and the food was good. The layout was messy and a bit confusing. read more

Great food, great service and great prices too! We stopped for lunch on our way north and really enjoyed it!!!

Went late afternoon, so it wasn't especially busy. Server came right over and took our drink orders. Returned quickly and we ordered. Soft taco, beans and rice, tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was a really big bowl! It had chicken, rice, avocado, onion, broccoli, and zucchini. The tortilla, cheese and lime came on the side. The lime squeezed in was a nice complement to the broth. I would definitely order that again. Big glasses of tea and lemonade. Some Tvs on the wall with sports on, Spanish music in the background, clean place. Manager stopped by and checked on us. Overall good experience. read more

Great place and lots of great residents that know you by name. It's always great to visit my younger brother. This would be a place where you want to stop by at anytime. Food was ok. Waiter was marginal. The food came out in pieces. Fajita came out with no tortillas. One couple was done with their food before we received our meal. Then to top it off there was a family behind us with a little boy who talked at a volume that exceeded a 10. That was not the restaurant's fault, but our dinner was strained. The mother said nothing! So sad. This is second time through Winona and both times our food came out in shifts. Waiter didn't understand much English and taco salad was soggy. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant in our area. The food is very good and there is a great variety. The service is quick and efficient. And they have a good children's menu. Hostess took us to the back of restaurant near the bathroom although there were several booths open. Okay maybe they're spreading out because of COVID. Later she seated another black man even closer to the bathroom, still several booths open . One minute later Hostess seated a white family in the open area. I'm giving the star to our waiter because he was cordial and attentive. Management needs to replace hostess or teach her better. read more

One of my fav Mexican restaurants! Great food and good prices! Fast and friendly service. The restaurant is older but clean!

I have a lot of complaints about my experience to this restaurant in Winona, Mississippi. We stopped here on a trip from Oxford to Houston because we were starving. I wish we would have just gone through the drive-thru somewhere else. First off, the unsweetened tea tasted putrid. The water is absolutely disgusting here. We ended up having to order soda and I am not a soda person. It was funky. Bad tea to me will easily cost you a star, alone. Secondly, the fajitas I ordered were not sizzling when they came out and the steak tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for about 30 minutes. They only included 3 pieces of shrimp on a "mixed grill" fajita plate. That wouldn't have been enough for 3 fajita tacos, it was barely enough for 1. My corn tortillas were old and tasted every bit as old as they were. They were awful. It was like eating paper. My sister wasn't impressed with her food either because instead of the usual delicious Monterey Jack cheese they put inside of a quesadilla, they added some sort of creamy white cheap cheese. They also didn't cut her quesadilla. It was difficult to for her to eat and was more like a quesadilla Taco. What made the experience even worse was the fact that the staff stood directly in front of our table and stared at us while we ate. I'm pretty sure they were talking about my sister and I the entire time too. It made us feel so uncomfortable. Hard pass next time I'm in Winona. read more

Would've been better if the staff wasn't so racist. It's like bro, you have melanin your skin which gives you your dark pigmentation. You're being unfriendly to your own kind. Anyways they food is overpriced and underwhelming. Save yourself the aggravation black people. read more

This place was great! The service was very good, portion sizes were awesome. The food was amazing!! On a road trip passing through, stop for gas and to get a good meal. We found El Cabrito, great place authentic food. The entire staff is very welcoming and friendly. This place was suggested by someone I worked with here in Winona. Service was quick to give me chips and water. The menu was VERY dense and hard to read and finding what I wanted was by luck- queso smothered burrito. I ordered a crunchy taco just in case there wasn't enough food. I got it with chicken. The chip salsa was very (VERY) mild. Almost no salt too. But the water was ENORMOUS! OMG, it was a silo of water! The food took the normal amount of time to get to my table. The veggies were fresh and the burrito meat was waaay over cooked. The chicken was a rubbery mess. Nothing juicy or savory about it. I had to use the queso to add ANY flavor. If it wasn't for the veggies, it would have been a horrid meal and one less star. The taco was FAN-TASS-TIC! I loved the shell and the meat flavor was amazing and it was JUICY! It's a shame the guy who made the taco didn't make my burrito. The restaurant was clean an read more
