Excellent service and very reasonable prices. I recommend the Tacos Al Pastor- the accompanying creamy sauce is subtle but delectable , and the flavoring for the pork ( even for a guy who much prefers chicken) is great too. Pollo fundido's has great sauces too, and the Agua de Horchata is great to wash it down with. Great people and love the decor in the new location . This has to be the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The food was horrible. I ordered the quail, it was burnt to a crisp. Then I ordered the t-bone steak and fries. The fries were soggy, and the steak had zero seasoning. I asked for well done it was burnt on both sides. My wife ordered spinach dip they bought out some spinach soup, watered down. Don't waste your money cause they ain't cheap either. read more

This is the most popular restaurant in Winona, MS. It's also the most reviewed restaurant in Winona, MS. It's for a reason too because it is a 5 star Mexican Restaurant. Great customer service and friendly staff along with delicious food is why. Anyway, I got their shrimp fajitas . It was delicious too. I got big portions too as I got so much food that I had to ask for to go box. I wanted to though because it was so I good that I wanted to save it for later. They took care of me while I was here too. They kept my sweet tea full while was here. They have a big menu here with a great big selection. The tortilla chips were super crispy, the salsa was delicious and we loved our chicken burrito and Cancun salad which was full of grilled shrimp! Went late afternoon, so it wasn't especially busy. Server came right over and took our drink orders. Returned quickly and we ordered. Soft taco, beans and rice, tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was a really big bowl! It had chicken, rice, avocado, onion, broccoli, and zucchini. The tortilla, cheese and lime came on the side. The lime squeezed in was a nice complement to the broth. I would definitely order that again. Big glasses of tea and lemonade. Food was ok. Waiter was marginal. The food came out in pieces. Fajita came out with no tortillas. One couple was done with their food before we received our meal. Then to top it off there was a family behind us with a little boy who talked at a volume that exceeded a 10. That was not the restaurant's fault, but our dinner was strained. The mother said nothing! So sad. This is second time through Winona and both times our food came out in shifts. Waiter didn't understand much English and taco salad was soggy. read more

Hostess took us to the back of restaurant near the bathroom although there were several booths open. Okay maybe they're spreading out because of COVID. Later she seated another black man even closer to the bathroom, still several booths open . One minute later Hostess seated a white family in the open area. I'm giving the star to our waiter because he was cordial and attentive. Management needs to replace hostess or teach her better. read more

I have a lot of complaints about my experience to this restaurant in Winona, Mississippi. We stopped here on a trip from Oxford to Houston because we were starving. I wish we would have just gone through the drive-thru somewhere else. First off, the unsweetened tea tasted putrid. The water is absolutely disgusting here. We ended up having to order soda and I am not a soda person. It was funky. Bad tea to me will easily cost you a star, alone. Secondly, the fajitas I ordered were not sizzling when they came out and the steak tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for about 30 minutes. They only included 3 pieces of shrimp on a "mixed grill" fajita plate. That wouldn't have been enough for 3 fajita tacos, it was barely enough for 1. My corn tortillas were old and tasted every bit as old as they were. They were awful. It was like eating paper. My sister wasn't impressed with her food either because instead of the usual delicious Monterey Jack cheese they put inside of a quesadilla, they added some sort of creamy white cheap cheese. They also didn't cut her quesadilla. It was difficult to for her to eat and was more like a quesadilla Taco. What made the experience even worse was the fact that the staff stood directly in front of our table and stared at us while we ate. I'm pretty sure they were talking about my sister and I the entire time too. It made us feel so uncomfortable. Hard pass next time I'm in Winona. read more

We visited on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was very busy but we were able to still get seated right away and the wait for the food was faster than I expected with it being so busy. On a road trip passing through, stop for gas and to get a good meal. We found El Cabrito, great place authentic food. The entire staff is very welcoming and friendly. This place was suggested by someone I worked with here in Winona. Service was quick to give me chips and water. The menu was VERY dense and hard to read and finding what I wanted was by luck- queso smothered burrito. I ordered a crunchy taco just in case there wasn't enough food. I got it with chicken. The chip salsa was very (VERY) mild. Almost no salt too. But the water was ENORMOUS! OMG, it was a silo of water! The food took the normal amount of time to get to my table. The veggies were fresh and the burrito meat was waaay over cooked. The chicken was a rubbery mess. Nothing juicy or savory about it. I had to use the queso to add ANY flavor. If it wasn't for the veggies, it would have been a horrid meal and one less star. The taco was FAN-TASS-TIC! I loved the shell and the meat flavor was amazing and it was JUICY! As far as food goes, it was decent for a small, local type Mexican restaurant, not terrific but decent. Honestly, no complaints about the food at all. They do have a large menu. But the service....not sure what the problem is here but it has happened more than once so Im writing a review. Their hot dogs are very meaty and flavorful. I will occasionally get a southern dog. It is a must try, but a lot of meat going on!! They also have BBQ nachos that are amazing. Their tamales are the best around. Po boys are big and tasty. I'm not a lemonade fan, but I have heard they are the best around also. Oh, don't forget to get a funnel cake!

Consensus: Small Time Hot Dogs needs to work on some things. I'll give them another shot next time they are around because a good, solid hot dog is super hard to find. They need to work on a good structure for their dog (bun, mustard on the bottom along the center of the bun, ketchup on the sides of the dog, relish and kraut on the top of the mustard, then dog, then a drizzle of cheese (or none) and then send it on it's way. So overall... I will give them a second shot because the hot dog itself was very tasty. If you see this truck, support it and go buy some dogs. It's hard to do a food truck down here and it's even harder to find a hot dog truck down here. Support your local food truck!
